I am not so savvy to the rules but from what I'm aware, any mainstream series have to adhere to the country's policies and social views on the matter, while vertical dramas don't have those limitations, They can be saucier, more violent and involve taboo topics that would not be allowed in mainstream series.

Yeah i think it totally is and has been for a few years now. It's so easy to write a story without it but certain short dramas (with not as many censorship rules) tend to be like vertical dramas (even less censorship rules) in pushing people's boundaries to what is acceptable. Dancing on the verge of risqué topics to illicit peoples' quirky fetishes is unfortunately the norm rather than the exception these days.

so many dramas do this these days. i recently watched a drama where everyone in the comments thought it was fine because they weren't blood-related but I had the same perspective as you. The drama Gemini is another example of this.

Have submitted the details for the admins to approve of Night's Wild Pull. As it's a vertical drama I don't know if they will publish it but I've submitted what I can and the information I could find.

i don't know what boxed series means but i doubt it was filmed a long time ago.

as all series and actors added are done by volunteers, I submitted some info yesterday about the series and the user/admin xxmai added it several hours later.

my mum and I recently watched this drama together and she complimented Lu Jin on managing things very maturely at the end. i think that's accurate. Lu Jin, while it took him a while to sort out his feelings, afterwards he was loyal and what I would consider the definition of a man. probably my favourite ML in a modern drama.

if Jinman didn't come back in the end none of the series would have made sense. He was super smart and no way he had survived all those years to die like that. Nor would he have given up to protect his niece by committing suicide when all her family was killed because of him. He would always fight to protect her rather than giving up in the "hope" someone would be merciful. That part was consistent with the story, otherwise the whole story would have been nonsensical.

Overall gripping moments throughout the series but a lot of Jian surviving came down to luck of the moment. I couldn't suspend my disbelief to fully immerse myself in the story. Heavy "super hero plot armour". Overall 7/10.

Dropped at episode 21. ML wasn't a great actor in Love and Redemption (which I just watched) so I wasn't able to appreciate him as an actor in this. FL was good at being a competent vengeful badass. Romance for me was meh. Didn't love it, didn't feel any sort of emotion.

glad to have provided some insight! :) in the same scene there is an idiomatic expression about killing but not burying (Guǎn shā bùguǎn mái (管杀不管埋) ) which means not taking responsibility for your actions. PeiLin previously had said TYY needs to take responsibility to finish what she started, but TYY says I don't kill and i don't bury! In comparison in this scene, she said to KJ "i'll kill when I want to kill and bury when I want to bury" (while in English it translated to she will start a relationship when she wants to, and end it when she wants to.) I think the English translation was spot on, but it lost the heart of using the same words from the convo with PeiLin.

Last 8 or so episodes really lacked substance. Can you imagine how few people would have made it through more than a few episodes were it not for LYS and XZL? I would not have watched it at all.

sorry I meant to reply yesterday but now I saw someone say you were the only one that thinks this way I wanted to say i definitely see the FL as showing wide eyed blank stares the whole series. the ML's expressions haven't bothered me, but i do get what you mean. I haven't had any sort of emotional connection in the episodes so far and I would lean towards that being from not sensing any emotional resonance from the leads. Yes you and I are heavily in the minority about this, but that's fine as everyone has a different personal experience watching something.

no romance as of yet (ep 18). FL admires ML (non-romantically as a role model) and ML only cares about money atm.
