well, here when we say holiday it means no class day, no offices open, and the whole family will just stay at home or have a nice bonding time together.

well, we don't have holidays like that.

we have:
labor day- for workers
nat'l heroes day- for unsung hereos
independence day
xmas
new year's eve
all saints day- loved ones who passed away
and many more...
valentines day isn't a holiday here

we don't have the thanksgiving day, I heard your Thanksgiving day is more celebrated than Christmas. Am I right?
