I'm really enjoying Double Helix so far (definitely more than the novel), but nothing can fill the void SCD left behind... Still, I like it more than anything else I'm watching these days.

From what I’ve seen, XiZhao are actually doing pretty well in mainland too. They definitely have a growing mainland fandom, especially on Weibo and Douyin, and their CP content gets a lot of engagement there. International fans are louder on Twitter and TikTok so it can sometimes feel like all the hype is overseas, but Chinese fans are supporting them a lot too.
And same! YunYi and XiZhao are my absolute favorites 💛

Although I do enjoy our deeper discussions about directing and character interpretation, I’m going to answer this very differently. From the very first trailer, not even the first episode, the moment I saw Liuyi covered in blood in that scene where he’s slaughtering people to save the Azure Dragon, I would’ve watched it even if it had been dubbed in an alien language 🤣
But yeah, jokes aside, I do get what you mean, and usually bad dubbing bothers me a little too, even in Chinese dramas where lip sync usually isn’t an issue. But this series had so many good things going for it that it genuinely didn’t bother me at all. The audio quality was actually pretty good throughout the whole show anyway. And like I already said, I absolutely loved hearing the language 😉

I don’t get why you feel bad about watching it without subtitles 😅 Honestly, I wish I was a polyglot and knew like five or six languages, preferably Asian ones, so I’d never have to read subtitles 😅

I think the lack of lip sync felt a little weird to me in the first couple of episodes. After that though, I got so into the series that I barely even noticed it anymore. Plus, I was reading subtitles anyway, so I wasn’t really paying attention to their lips all the time when they were talking. But I genuinely love hearing your language, especially in songs 💛 It sounds much deeper and clearer to me than Mandarin. I honestly don’t remember ever liking the sound of a foreign language this much.

I’m not offended, I definitely share some of the responsibility, I was the one who started it after all. Anyway, as long as we’re doing well, it’s nice to have these fun little arguments every now and then, even if they don’t really make sense 😅
