Well, at least when it comes to the actors and their repeated confirmation of Season 2, the source is... the actors themselves. You can literally watch them say it on multiple occasions, in their lives, in magazine interviews, and so on. And the production is already casting for some roles too, which you can verify on Weibo, since the directors themselves have posted about it on their profiles. So I wouldn’t really put that in the same category as random rumors from fan accounts.

That being said, I’m not trying to confuse you or reassure you with what I’m saying. I just think we have to keep in mind that we’re talking about China. It wouldn’t really make sense for them to officially announce a second season of a BL series before filming has even started, and maybe not even immediately after filming starts. There are simply too many things that can still go wrong. Even Chinese series that have already been filmed and obtained their licenses can sometimes be announced only a few days or weeks before the premiere.

So I think there’s a difference between saying that there is solid evidence that Season 2 is moving forward and saying that there has been an official announcement with a confirmed filming date. The first one is supported by what the actors and people involved in the production have actually said and done. The second one is something we probably shouldn’t expect until the production is ready to make it public.

I have no idea, but I wouldn't take it that far. What we know for sure is that one of the producers of the series won't be involved in the second season. I'm a little worried too, but there's nothing we can do about it, and it's also kind of silly to worry before we've even seen the series. If anything, a bigger production should be a good sign for the quality of the series, with better scenes, more promotion, etc. So let's not worry about it just yet.

Are you talking about what their producer from season 1 posted today? Why would that be bad news for Season 2? If anything, the fact that the production team has changed actually confirms that Season 2 is moving forward.

It's not that I'm put off by historicals, I just rarely choose them because I find all the political stuff unbearably boring. Ant's Cry doesn't seem to focus on politics though, it's more of a warrior story. The thing is, I'm completely obsessed with SCD, unfortunately, to the point where I've almost given up trying to find something else to get my mind off it. I do want to read Ant's Cry though, because it really does seem so good from the very beginning. I just have no idea when I'll actually get around to it 😋
And YES, EXACTLY 😭 SCD has genuinely ruined us. Everything else feels like we're eating plain crackers after having a five course meal. And don't even get me started on the SanYi visuals. Now every other BL couple is just standing there like "🥺👉👈" and I'm like... I'm sorry, where are the visuals? Where is the chemistry? Where is the reason for me to care?
At this point I fully blame them too. They raised the bar to an absolutely unreasonable height and then proceeded to keep feeding us content until we had no chance of recovering. I honestly don't know how we're supposed to find another CP attractive after them 😞

I get what you mean, but I feel that way mostly about the spicy scenes. Those, of course, I'm actually really happy they edited, because they're much more enjoyable to read now, and obviously they have all those details that weren't there before. Although I think that might be because they originally translated the censored chapters? Am I remembering that wrong? Anyway, to me it feels like the rest of it, the descriptions, the fight scenes, etc., are written in a more "literary" way now after the edit. They definitely fixed quite a few of the grammatical issues they had before, but somehow the overall feeling seems to have changed a little. I don't really know how else to explain it. It's not like there's a huge difference, though.

I love these boys, seriously! They're not just two ridiculously gorgeous guys with insane chemistry, they're genuinely incredibly talented and they work so hard. I'm embarrassed to admit this, but I'm a 35 year old woman and I spend pretty much all day obsessing over these two. And they just won't leave us alone! The sheer amount of content they give their fans is insane! When am I supposed to find time for anything else? 😅 Ever since SCD, I haven't managed to finish a single other series, except for a couple that I was translating on Viki. I don't even dare start another BL anymore because I know it's just going to end up abandoned, like so many of the ones I've tried to watch after SCD 😩

I really hope I manage to read this one because I'm not really a fan of omegaverse, but what you said about the way this author gravitates towards atypical dynamics actually made me curious. It sounds really interesting, especially if the main leads are basically Chu San and Liu Yi in a parallel universe 😌
I still haven't finished Ant's Cry either, by the way. I've been stuck on chapter 9 for ages 😂 Although I have to admit, it is pretty interesting so far. Hopefully I'll have better luck with this one! And if it's cute and hot AND can help me a little with my SCD obsession, that's definitely a bonus 😂

Yeah, I think I mentioned before that the scene I most desperately want them to keep in the series is the one where Xia Liuyi begs Chusan. Although I'm curious whether they'll keep the part about Qing Long or not, because for me it's very important for the whole evolution of their relationship. Even though, I think that if they decide not to mention Xia Liuyi's past feelings, I'm sure they'll find a way to make it emotional. I trust their production team.

And of course I also saw and have already read the chapters they edited! Although, to be honest, the differences in most of them are almost non-existent. And I might even say that I liked some parts better the way they were originally written. Now they seem to have made it a bit more literary, if that makes sense? I don't know.
Anyway, why do you think I mentioned the hospital scene? Chapter 48. I read it this morning. It has become one of my favourites 🤭 It already was, because it's one of the first times in the novel that we get to see just how domineering Chusan can be, but now that we have the whole scene clearly laid out, it's so much better!

As for the fixed cps on CBL... I actually think we might have entered this era, or at least we are moving strongly in that direction. The biggest difference I have noticed compared to previous years is that most of the newer CPs, if not all of them, are now signed under the same company. That changes the whole situation because the company has a much bigger interest in building and maintaining that partnership long term.
The Revenged Love CP is actually a good example of how things were different before. From what I know, they were under different companies, so there wasn't the same level of control or shared interest in keeping them together. I haven't really researched the exact reasons why they eventually stopped promoting as a CP, but I honestly don't think it was because of only one thing.
For Sammy's CPs, I do think there is a real possibility that they will continue after season 2, especially because the production seems to be building these pairings very intentionally.

Girl, I have no idea how you do it! I'm obsessed with XiZhao! They are incredible, I honestly don't think I have ever seen a pair like them before. Although I don't remember leaving a comment myself saying that XiZhao and SanYi are separate entities, I do remember any_anka mentioning it before, and I completely agree with her.
XiZhao feel so authentic, and they are actually quite different from their characters in the series, so I could never really "confuse" them, if that's the right word. At least I haven't experienced that in the many months I've been following them. Unfortunately, I don't really have any tips to give you because personally I don't see them as their characters from the series, so it doesn't affect me in that way.
If I were you though, I would probably give in 😂 Their concerts were amazing, and in just a few days your TL is going to be full of them again since they have their Bangkok concert on the 22nd.

Ah, yes! 😭 I just want to see all their sweet moments together, and I can't wait for all the teasing Xia Liuyi is going to get, especially from Cui Dongdong. (I really hope we get the scene where she gives him the lubes 😅)
I'm also hoping they'll include the scene where Boss Xia is hiding outside He Chusan's window in nothing but his underwear so Papa He doesn't catch them together.
Oh, and one of the nude scenes I'm really hoping they'll include, or at least show as much of it as they can, is the hospital scene after Xia Liuyi gets out of prison, where Chusan "takes care of him" because Xia Liuyi never listens and keeps smoking 😁

A bit of all three, honestly 😅 It's emotionally satisfying in some ways, but it also leaves a lot unresolved. I wasn't devastated, but I was definitely frustrated... mostly because I desperately wanted to know what happens next. That said, it's 100% worth it. I can't recommend it enough. The series is soooo good, and we'll probably get Season 2 soon anyway.

Like I mentioned in the comments above, I'd say it covers about a third of the novel. It's hard to say for sure because it doesn't follow the novel exactly. Some events are rearranged, so it's not a perfect chapter by chapter adaptation.

Fair point, I can understand that. I would probably do the same if I hadn't watched it while it was airing. But it really is such an amazing series that it would be a shame not to give it a chance. I hope we'll get the long-awaited official announcement soon. For now, they are still promoting the CP.
