Whoever (the company) is currently advising him, there are many indications that he was chosen for this drama. The director who worked with him on his last work, the stylist who has been with Liu Xue Yi since "In Blossom". The drama is from Youku. And the production company is the same as Kill Me Love Me. (So, it's almost obvious to us that he is the one chosen for the drama). PS: Whoever spread these rumors about the underage actress, I believe it's just gossip. Weibo works on data, conversations, that's what gives an actor heat, it needs people talking about him. Every day these lists with each actor's data come out. PS: I think Liu Xue Yi will be in this drama in March, and the actress will be another actress with the appropriate age, but she is younger than Liu Xue Yi, not underage, but people will complain less about an older actor being paired with an actress who looks younger than him.ππ€ππβοΈβΊοΈ PS: And they are probably preparing the audience's perception.π€π
What do you mean? Liu Xue Yi is so handsome in KMLM
Yes, they should have given him lead roles earlier. But...unfortunately, after 26 supporting roles, they started giving him the lead role. And in "The Legend of White Snake", when he played the Demon King, he already stole the show, and they didn't give him the lead role later. And when he played two characters: Haochen/Heavenly Emperor (who shined and also stole the show) in Love and Redemption. He was given the male lead in Love Never Fails, but...the problem occurred with that drama, and so he was delayed again. Finally...now: the last 6 roles he played were all male leads.
I guess it's sitting on a shelf, gaining dust... *sigh* just another day in c-drama land
Yes, only blind people don't notice his charm and beauty. And I've seen comments in youtube from people questioning his inappropriate appearance for Xianxia (and other people commenting: This person is crazy. This person is blind. He's super handsome.).
Drama Reenactment - Liu Xue Yi and Yang Xi Zi https://youtu.be/kpWa5SAU8YU?si=3Jbe9s_TYvjmjbEZ This is the 24 year old actress who could do this drama with Liu Xue Yi. She looks like she's 18 years old. And she's from the same company as him. (It would be in line with the drama and within the law.)
I guess it's sitting on a shelf, gaining dust... *sigh* just another day in c-drama land
What she means is not that he is poorly regarded. That's not it. She means that he is not very known, he doesn't have much traffic yet. (He hasn't exploded yet, as they say.) He needs more people to know about him. PS: But I think this is starting to happen. And his dramas are being broadcast and achieving success. (What is success anyway?). He doesn't go unnoticed. (In any drama.) And now they're giving him the male lead.

KLM needed a lot of changes and the writers knew how to do it (to make the drama watchable and interesting). They added the right things, but other key elements that they removed were a problem. They were brilliant on one hand and inadequate on the other. That's the contradiction.
I guess it's sitting on a shelf, gaining dust... *sigh* just another day in c-drama land
Yes, there were many expectations broken (this was a problem). This sentence below is not in the drama. It is a key sentence that enriches the character and is not there. PS: And I won't forget a phrase from the book that was in Jing He's mouth when he thinks she died: "Woman, do you die so easily?" (this phrase was his recognition of this strong woman, that her end didn't suit her. But mixed with his despair and non-acceptance of this end, which he thought was real.) PS: And (contradictorily) there is still so much interesting stuff in this drama.Despite that.

Yes, I agree, these changes were appropriate and sensible, they improved the plot. That's what's contradictory, the writers were brilliant in most moments of the drama. But... there are other key points that could also be improved. (But, I think there are many more positive points, than the negative key points that we mentioned. That's the contradiction of this drama, the genius alongside the mistakes found. That's why the drama, despite the flaws, is still an interesting drama.
I guess it's sitting on a shelf, gaining dust... *sigh* just another day in c-drama land
I also need to rewatch it, (because this drama is full of meaning and details), despite everything.
Those points you mentioned were great changes the writers made. And there are many genius points from the writers (that make this drama even more interesting). But... there are those points I mentioned, that if they were there would make most users give this drama a 10.
I think KLM is a great drama, it manages to be an interesting drama, even with some mistakes from the writers. (Much of what the writers added and/or repurposed in the drama is wonderful, such as the metaphor of the Immortal Flower. The female general not being a monster. The love between mother and son (Jing He and his mother being key to the plot). The entire narrative of him as a general. The conversations between the two enemy brothers. But: 1-A bit of the dynamic that gives the drama its name (which is love and hate was weakened very quickly), although I loved the love story. 2-The best ending was the one in the book (and because it wasn't the one in the book, they took out some phrases that Jing He says to Mei Lin at her grave. (although the adaptation to a grave of flowers and the way they adapted this moment was full of positive points (which improve other elements that would be repulsive in Mei Lin's supposed death). 3-And something created by the screenwriters, the metaphor of immortality, was not well represented. Our feeling was of death and not immortality. In addition to the immortal flower, they always said: this can't kill me. (and the opposite happened with both).) He became the emperor and lived so little. Ahhh!! They could be better. But (contradictorily), there are so many interesting things in the drama, that I can't let go. Interesting and new in the drama. And the actors chosen who add so much meaning to the plot. PS: And I won't forget a phrase from the book that was in Jing He's mouth when he thinks she died: "Woman, do you die so easily?" (this phrase was his recognition of this strong woman, that her end didn't suit her. But mixed with his despair and non-acceptance of this end, which he thought was real.) This sentence above is not in the drama. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- GeeGee 17 minutes ago @eliteles1 I actually want to rewatch KMLM again. Because in the first watch, I haven't fully watched it yet and just skip skip some episodes.
As far as I know, there is more biggest changes besides the torture scenes. For example MRJH thought that he loved the female general and they tortured Mei Lin for their pleasure. I don't see it in the drama. Also, they also changed the plot when MRJH forced Mei Lin to marry his eunuch, because in the drama Qing Yan is not a eunuch, but his personal bodyguard who still has his "thing" below.
GeeGee 9 minutes ago @eliteles1 Actually i am GLAD that the writers changed those two plots. I can't imagine how mess it is with eunuch marriage plot. Ikr it added the level of angst but still.... also i can't bear to think that MRJH loved 2nd FL besides Mei Lin.

(Sometimes it's not the entire plot that's weak. But rather, some strong points of the book are weakened or even forgotten in the drama's plot. I think also the plot of The Princess Gambit is probably perfectly adjusted. It should be quite interesting. I'm reading the book. As for "A moment but forever", the plot of the book needs to be fleshed out, as it is very short and some points are not fully developed. I believe from the reviews I have seen about the script, that they did a good job with the plot. PS: I realize that when key lines from the book are forgotten in the script, it weakens the plot of the drama, which could be better.
(I think I can explain what the person feels.) Because it seems like a type of drama, but it is another. It is not the complete red flag as a large part wanted. It is the journey of a hero and not an anti-hero. And the heroine is not the queen of revenge, she is someone on a journey of love (she is more of that). (However, me, my expectation was broken, but I enjoyed the drama, because there are many interesting elements, and new in this drama. And I love the actor.)And the actress is perfect in her interpretation too.
