Are there any good angst dramas where the angst makes sense? I also read c-novels but mostly, the male lead will…
This female author (from "The princess Gambit" novel) enjoys writing characters who are flawed, imperfect, and questionable, male and female, but when they meet, they begin to change each other through their time together. No one is forced to love. They learn to love each other through this coexistence, and they improve as people.
The plot between the Third Prince and the empress is a mess! People are all blaming Jiang Taohua, but to me, it's…
It's not that JTH had a harder life than SZY, it's just that we weren't shown what SZY suffered properly. I keep asking myself: They cast him as Top Billing. Why didn't they treat him as top billing? (For example: SZY mentions that he doesn't like shrimp because his father humiliated him by making him peel shrimp. We saw the loss of the servant who sacrificed himself for him in the fire, and that's it. It seems to me that the first screenwriter would have contextualized this better, but it was removed beforehand.) For me, he suffered as much as she did, which is why he acted coldly; he began to have a more open heart from the moment he met JTH. And so it is in the book as well.
PS: The first 19 episodes valued both actors just right; both were interesting, charming, and had plenty of screen time. (But episode 29, for me, began to adequately balance these elements as well.)
The female lead in the web novel is completely different. This is probably another case where the actor used his…
Of course, the female lead's behavior has some similarity with the book (improving a lot of things in relation to the book, but "maybe" making something worse in relation to the first 19 episodes of the drama). She continues to be impulsive, audacious, as in the book. She uses men to (without them realizing they do what she wants), in the book her behavior is less acceptable than in the drama. In drama she sets limits for herself more than in the book (this is undoubtedly better in drama). Shen Zai Ye makes a lot more sense in the drama as well (because his attitude towards those women, for not wanting them, was a little difficult to assimilate in the book. Use a stunt double?). In the drama he divorces them (it's much more coherent), since he didn't live with them (in fact). The princess's move (in the drama, as much as JTH is impulsive and sometimes not as smart and practical as "maybe" she should be, but she goes far in her goals) and the move, it's actually hers (the title of the drama is shown all the time. Maybe not so well executed, but it's hers.). SZY and her move together as a set was more in the first 19 episodes. PS: I see some saying that the screenwriter hates heroine and gave primacy to the male lead. I think that's not true. In the first 19 episodes, until JTH's cliff fall, both shone equally in their respective styles in the story. But after episode 19 it's as if the writer wanted to give her more space, and how that unbalanced the drama (and it backfired), making SZY most of the time just run after JTH who prioritizing her move pushed SZY away. All the conflicts in the first 19 episodes were very interesting: JTH and the other women. SZY and his enemies. The moments of flirtation, passion, comedy, political conflict, adventure. All of these were better in the first 19 episodes. I see that now episode 29 starts to balance everything again and making the participation of the main couple (JTH and SZY) more interesting. ππ€ππΆβπ«οΈπ§
It's so nice to see Shen Zai Ye and Jiang Tao Hua start to understand each other and work together as a team. Shen Zai Ye with his heroism, Jiang Tao Hua with his intelligence. That moment of the arrows when JTZ passed the bow to SZY. The moment when Qingtai also showed her skill and helped Shen Zai Ye. The meeting of JTH and her brother was sweet. The quick friendship and partnership between JTH's brother and SZY was pretty cool. The meeting between the third prince and his beloved (it was a bit disappointing for him). And now they all unite together to save the city. Will the fireworks explode so easily? Who will die, who will live? (I'm now going to watch episode 30). PS: Shen Zai Ye, I want to see you with the braids in your hair. The two cousins will look very similar in this outfit. π₯°π₯°π₯°ππππΆβπ«οΈ
Oh no, did they blow up SZY? I like Prince Wuxia in the country clothes and braids, LOL
Shen Zai Ye will be wearing braids in the next episode. Since I'm going to watch episode 29 now, I don't know if SZY has already appeared with this look.

Good b/c I was dosing off. I really had high hopes for this drama. Just want LXYto shine in a good drama for once.
As if an actor had millions of scripts to choose from. He's lucky: he has a drama that's reasonably successful "in the cold winter of Chinese cinema and television." And only three years ago did he start playing the male lead, while he's been supporting dozens and dozens of times. PS: I'm happy (He's the male lead). And the drama is interesting, though it has many flaws. It's not unwatchable at all. πππΆβπ«οΈππ€π€π€π€π€π€π€π€ππππππ§
Translated Final Calendar https://i.mydramalist.com/81g7B2_3f.jpg PS: In the last episode, there's a silhouette. It's the two of them hugging. (Besides the couple's silhouette that's repeated in all the calendars and on the book cover. It's JTH dressed in a pink dress and SZY in a blue outfit with loose hair waiting for her on a staircase. (To me, this means they'll follow exactly as it is in the novel.)
