I think of Jin Yong's works..there was no Academy. They were much more rogue in their travels and how they accidentally found their secrets to martial arts by others than having to be part of a discipleship, so to speak. Sure, there are sects, but I guess I am thinking OLD School when it comes to Wuxia stories. The Condor Heros being a favorite as well as Sabor Sword and the Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils. What are your favorites?

Such a fantastic cast. Still, I'm not sure I'm in love with this script. I like my Wuxia without an Academy. Just saying.

Wow! I can't believe he's in Dashing Youth!

It feels like a comedy. JQ comes in with all this funny girl something. It's like she's in a different drama from everyone else. I don't know if I can stand it for 24 episodes. I love her so much and want her to shine but I'm not sure this is it.

Everytime I see him I think of Jiang Long! I have been missing Long..I guess. I like them both.

I found it on Viki..while looking for Sword and Fairy (2005)..and this one feels much older than 2015. Honestly, it has a 70ish drama making feel to it (props, IG and all) with some silly beginnings and happening. Although, I do love what they braided for ML and great to find some old favorites of Martial Arts dramas. This one might not be for everyone(that well hated Chinese actor is it). But I am glad I found it. This might be the place LGX got his feet wet in Wuxia dramas (✿◡‿◡)

Qin just gets better as an actor with this screenwriter. I really enjoy his plots and characters.

He's such a great character actor.

Honestly, many in the male cast were gold..but it ended up being fool's gold because maybe there were too many in the cast that got lost.
