I never interacted with him in school, I was a shy kid, but I knew who he was (although I knew him as Stewart, I feels weird calling him Perth), at the time he had an interesting hairstyle and the same bright smile he has now so he was memorable.
Actually after getting to know more about him from his yt channel and instagram, I feel it's such a shame because we have so many common interests I think we could have been good friends π
Anyway I think what he's doing is really cool and I'm happy to be a fan. A girl who I actually had classes with and had interacted with became an actress in Hollywood now but I was way more excited to find out about Perth π
I never really watched Thai dramas before but I went on holiday to Bangkok a few years ago and had a great time and then maybe last year yt recommended me a video about basic Thai so I thought yeah I should know that for next time I go to Thailand. As I was watching it I thought damn the guy in this video looks so familiar. Turns out he was my senior in high school and aside from doing yt he had also become an actor in Thai BL dramas. And that guy is Perth Nakhun who plays the bodyguard Ken in KinnPorsche.
When I found out that he started acting in Thai BL dramas of course I wanted to support his work but at the time he'd only been in My Engineer and I watched a little of that but I wasn't really in the mood for it at the time (I'm definitely going to go back and watch it someday though). Then I found out he was going to be in this drama and I knew I had to check it out because it sounded like all the things I like.
I'm so glad that I discovered that Perth started acting because otherwise I probably never would have even known about KinnPorsche but omg I'm obsessed with this drama now. The vibe is kind of different from how I thought it would be but it's so fun and Mile and Apo's acting is excellent and their chemistry is great π
This is now what I'm looking forward to every week, giving me the will to live through the next couple of months of work π
I don't understand why she went back to the exam venue with the exam security or whatever after she escaped, like he has no authority over anything besides the exam??? I can't imagine immigration in Australia would particularly care some girl cheated on her exam either as long as she didn't overstay her tourist(?) visa. Also they contacted the embassy about cheating on an exam, I'm honestly asking does that actually happen??? And the embassy contacted their school??? I mean is it illegal to cheat on this kind of exam? Am I just totally unaware or?
if this is anything like Hudson and Rex, I am so up for it!
I haven't seen Hudson and Rex but assuming it's just a remake of the Austrian Kommissar Rex, this drama is giving me Rex meets the Australian comedy Wilfred, which also has an American remake starring Elijah Wood.
If you're familiar with Nagano Mei, this isn't her actual voice. She makes her voice lighter and softer for her…
That's what I meant, I've seen her in other dramas, movies and programmes and I didn't notice her voice at all but what she's doing in this drama sounds unnatural to me and my ears got tired after listening to it for a whole episode. I get that the characters are exaggerated for comedic effect in this drama I just feel like she could have toned it down a bit and still have delivered the cutesy character and be easier on the ears. Not meant to be a criticism of her as an actress either, it's quite possible that the director told her to go with that voice and I thought she was quite good in this character otherwise. It's only my opinion of course and my ears are quite sensitive to high pitch noises.
Originally this drama only caught my interest because Ike Nwala, always interested in seeing more diversity in media, especially from a relatively homogeneous country like Japan and was interested to see what kind of character he would be portraying.
It started slow. Like the first episode was not good imho. But I came back for more of Watanabe Daichi as Kageyama's visual kei alter ego and actually episode 2 was a big improvement.
It's episodic in nature as they have new customers each episode and they kind of do different styles and parody in each so depending on your taste you might feel that the quality is up and down over the 10 episodes. But I found it to be a charming little show overall. I enjoy this kind of silly, over the top comedy.
Also the ending was 10/10 for being realistic and not forcing a romance that they spent no time developing and had no chemistry.
I only wish that they would release that song that Kageyama sang like every episode. Absolute bop, I would come back every episode just for that.
The final episode felt a little weak maybe because the tone was a little more serious going for that touching ending and I guess if they originally planned for 10 episodes it would have been better paced too.
But overall the characters and cast chemistry are enjoyable (except I wish Nagano Mei would speak in a less grating pitch half the time π). I find that shows where they have a big overarching plot/mystery that gets solved at the end of the season tend to feel unnatural if they get renewed for more seasons since they usually have to introduce some new big thing which often feel forced but if there's more in the manga to draw on even I would be happy to see another season of Hakozume because I'd like to see more of these characters.
Do special episodes part of story or a spin off or they contain behind the scenes ?
The two special episodes that aired between episode 4 and episode 5? They're mainly a digest of episodes 1 to 4, each with what felt like somewhere about 10 minutes of new footage kind of spin off everyday happenings in the office skit type content interspersed throughout, fun but not necessary to enjoy the rest of the regular episodes and also the two main leads don't appear in these parts, and a tiny bit of bts. If you like the show and want to get more of the supporting cast characters I definitely recommend to skip through the recap bits and just watch the new parts.
Ah okay, I don't watch Japanese movies/dramas with sub (except sometimes Japanese sub from the original broadcast/dvd) so I don't really know anything about other fansubbers. I'm not Chocos. As I said I made the sub that's now been shared on dramacool and other sites like that, for a private member only website and at that time there was no English sub that I was aware of, I don't know if someone else also made a different English sub.
i'm late commenting to this but i just wanted to say thank you so much for subbing this!! i saw it on the private…
Yeah I guess it's confusing because my username on the private tracker and here are different but I've been on the private tracker a lot longer and I didn't really think that I would be interacting with other people when creating my username there and I get annoyed when I think of a one and then it's already taken so I was like let's just go with random letters and numbers from the get goπ
I can relate to the hectic lifestyle. I actually started subbing two a little bit older dramas a while ago but I barely have time to work on them so until they're done in the distant future it'll remain a secret π€. This movie was a lot easier in comparison being only 2 hours and not really any technical terminology or poetic language. I hope you enjoy the movie when you get time for it!
Thanks so much for your subs !! Really appreciate it! Honestly I often used dramacool simply because I prefer…
No problem!π and I totally get it, it can be hard to find some shows anywhere else sometimes and absolutely no judgement for any way you choose to consume media, you gotta do what works best for you and I think it's one of the most accessible means for a lot of people so in that sense I'm glad that they're giving the sub further reach so more people can enjoy the movie.
I also don't really care that they didn't credit other than the fact that it means that I lose out on being able to connect with people who've watched my sub for feedback, questions or just a chat. Personally I don't see any other benefit to being credited for it. I have more of problem with the idea that those sites might be making profits off of videos and subs that aren't theirs, but again that's 100% on whoever owns the site and not on the people who are consuming from them.
Thanks so much! I'm about 50 minutes into the film and your subs are wonderful (and the film is terrific). I'm…
This is actually only the second work of Sakamoto Yuji I've seen after Omameda Towako, which is crazy because he has written so many classic and popular dramas that I've got to get around to watching. I agree, I think this movie is very simple but beautiful. I get the feeling from the little I've seen that the main theme of his works is growth and finding yourself as a person. I think that's why it can leave you with a positive feeling, because they are learning through the negatives experiences too and growing into themselves. Kind of comes back to beginning when they talk about sharing earphones while listening to music but they're also indirectly talking about losing your sense of self and and your partner as an individual with their own thoughts, needs and dreams and not settling for something or sacrificing or seeking validation in a relationship in an attempt to feel whole. The ending is pretty open too.
Are you from that private tracker Jeff? For now I've done some small edits including that one and put in a credit to my twitter handle on the title screen in the version I've uploaded on mediafire (link above) so if you want to download from there and then you can just upload that to subscene
