how do you know it’s ai? i’m genuinely curious, because i didn’t notice it at all until someone else mentioned…
I hope you don't mind me going into detail! 😭 While I'm not an animator myself, I'm an artist and ai usage in media just really rubs me the wrong way.
The first half of the intro has a pencil sketch artstyle, while it's not impossible for an animation to look like that, it's something you would rather see in 3D animation. So is this 3D animated? While visually, it actually comes closer to "rotoscoping": No, this isn't animated at all. This was made by feeding scenes from the drama, alongside prompts to achieve the desired artsyle, to an ai tool. There is a possibility that someone drew over the scenes (which I highly doubt) but ultimately, those illustrations were still fed to the ai tool to "animate" them.
I actually have a very good example: In the k-pop group NCT Wish's new MV, there is an animated sequence. The artist also made character designs for each member. In the same MV, there are sequences that are trying to emulate the style of the prior animated one, but these just look off because they were made by feeding the artworks of the members alongside shots of them dancing to an ai tool, to "animate" them. ("Oh why didn't they just make the animator animate those parts as well?" It's simple: Because animation is expensive.) https://youtu.be/1o5O2YvV3HU?si=P5QIg2jDlwr5ipmH&t=144
This also explains the inconsistent artstyle, the very first shot looks more like the artstyle of an Grand Theft Auto artwork LOL. Everything I said is also applicable to the "anime"-esque second half of the intro. It's even more obvious with that one because it's trying to emulate 2D animation but because the tool uses live action scenes as its reference it just looks off!
So to sum it up + other factors: - inconsistent artstyle - blurry or/and thin lineart - contradictionary to the animation technique it's trying to emulate - would this fit the show's budget?
Obviously some aspects of this intro, like the editing, were made by a human.
that intro is HORRENDOUS. ethnical and environmental aspects aside, using ai just makes the show look cheap from the get-go bruh. but this was actually surprisingly nice so far, the premise is a little corny but that's kind of its charm LOL i'm curious to see how it'll continue... btw crazy that it's the same director as Love in the Big City but I guess it's especially noticeable during the intimate scenes?
wait what there’s a r*pe scene??😳😳 I haven’t started watching yet, not sure if i want to if there’s…
I think they're talking about their first time, it was consensual at first but it seems like they miscommunicated about penetration, idk how far this went but it nearly led to them breaking up
I loved this, honestly I think thai dramas should have less episodes more often! The acting was also really good, I think it's insane how much of a difference it makes when a good director can utilize the skills of the actors they're working with. I've seen the opposite a lot in thai-bl's....
And the cinematography (in MuTeLuv in general) is so good, the vibrant colors and the buddhist architecture are stunning.
I actually just discovered this because it's going to be available on Gagaoolala on February 2https://www.gagaoolala.com/en/videos/6163/hard-duty-2001
I skipped a little through it because of your comment and this isn't really something people are keen on archiving, it's probably the highest quality Gaga could get their hands on. Plus this is just a guess but I think this was supposed to be watched on a CRT-TV!
I really like it so far but the editing in the last scene of ep 3 bothered me so so much, I really couldn't look past how obviously it was filmed during the day but they tried to edit it to make it look like it was at night and they honestly did a horrible job.......this is so odd considering the usual really nice cinematography we've seen in this?
OH WOW. leaving the morning after without saying anything is one thing but leaving even though it takes this amount of effort to do so is a whole other 😭 AND IT'S A TRUE STORY? diabolical.
Out of all the reviews I've read about this movie, I resonate with this one the most! I love the way you think, reading this made my heart beat a little faster.
