Coz most of them wouldn't have approached them before.. Seeing a gang of handsome dudes hanging together, others…
These characters, as portrayed in their open and friendly interactions with Hioki, would have been seen being friendly and open to others, too. Just my take, of course.
If I were a Korean celebrity, I would tell the public as little as possible about my private life. I'd keep such announcements extremely brief and to the point, excluding the gushing prose that only fuels parasocial BS among fans. There's no need for all the thanking and groveling and promise-making concerning my private affairs.
My announcements would be strictly about business, upcoming projects, etc. Of course, I'd thank fans for their support, but only as it relates to work. Example: "I have great news to share. I will be marrying the person I love most in the world next Spring. Thank you for respecting our privacy as we move ahead together in life's journey." That's it.
Because if something goes wrong down the line, say this marriage doesn't work out, for example, this kind of thing will only be used against OTY. "Oh, you promised this, you said that, and you failed, blah blah blah..."
It's sad, but such is the state of the fan/public/celeb culture in Korea.
In checking his bio to find what I've seen him in before, I'm looking at an acting resume two miles long. Wow, this guy has built an incredible career out of character/supporting/guest roles.
Minato looks like Meryl Streep. Do men really get up after hot, drunken sex and put back on their undies and jeans, then go back to sleep? No, no, they do not. Do people wake up without hangovers after a night of black-out drinking? No, no, they do not. Since Shizuma was drunk, even though he was the sex aggressor, doesn't that mean that Minato raped him? I'm waiting for the MDL Sex Police Little Girls to go crazy about this outrageous, illegal, and appalling behavior. Come on, Girls... Is it me, or is this whole thing shot in soft focus? I'd give anything to see some armpit hair in this show. Or a muscle. At least one non-fem character would be refreshing. The clothing...lol. Gurl, please.
This may be another one to set aside until all eps have aired, then binge.
I will have to rewatch this show another time, I tried watching it but it didn’t live up to the hype because…
Yeah, I agree about how slow it is. Nothing of importance has happened in three episodes I may try to hold out until the rest have aired, then binge it. Maybe watching all eps together will grant me at least on half-hour of worthwhile content.
This show is a balloon made of cotton candy, but with nothing inside...not even air. :)
If all five of these guys are so nice and open to those around them, why would people have regarded them as an exclusive clique to begin with? Fujimoto Kodai is one of those actors who gets cuter every time you see them. I know exactly how Hioki feels, spending all night next to a hot guy you can't touch...I never slept a wink.
Oh, look! The sun rose today, and just as reliably, we have another trash article from Lily Alice helping to destroy a K-celeb's life. Keep hoping, Lily! Maybe he'll make "that choice" and you'll have something really great to write about!
Wow. I found the writing and direction to be the worst aspects of this show. The leads are talented, but the material…
I didn't intend to sound argumentative. If I came across that way, I apologize. A discussion that includes opposing viewpoints doesn't have to become a hostile argument. oops, am I arguing about arguing now? :)
Of course, I haven't read the screenplay. Didn't mean to imply that I had. But I believe what ends up on screen is a reflection of the screenplay, though, in this case, I believe the director made lots of bad choices that undercut what could have been even better performances from the two talented leads.
I didn't say it's not okay to not like a show. Of course, it's fine.

I think you and I may mean two different things when we refer to "writing." I am referring to the writing of the screenplay, which adapts the Manga to live-action format, in ALL it's details, from dialogue to scene sequence, to extensions, action lines, to blocking, setting, and much more.
Lots of shitty, whole stories get told in six episodes. and lots of shitty dramas dominate on Gaga and FOD.
I'm not saying this drama is "shitty," just that its performance on the platforms you mentionedd do not necessarily reflect quality.
It is Yakuza boss and his underling. What are you expecting? a rule abide pure heart consent asking gangster?…
Thanks for making my point for me.
You're amazed that people are "accepting" of rape (in your imagination); meanwhile, you're apparently accepting of murder, betrayal, theft, and general Yakuza lawlessness.
Consider that your assertion that beholding something in a fictional drama is the same as "accepting" it, might be..lame. Ever seen a war movie? You "accept" death, destruction, violence, war crimes, murder on a mass scale, etc., correct? Ever seen a murder mystery? Well, clearly, you condone murder, yes? Ever seen a bank heist caper, adultery thriller, or a kidnapping-and-ransom flick? If so, you "accept" those things, right? Then, there are Samurai warrior films...you "accept" carving people up with swords, correct? Ever seen the Korean sci-fi flick, "The Host?" Well, then, you "accept" dumping toxic chemicals into the Han River and the subsequent, mutant monster's brutal devouring of Seoul's citizenry, yes?
Your original comment is of a type that's rampant on MDL. It's an entirely performative exercise in letting us all know how deeply "shocked" and distressed and concerned you are about issues of consent, power imbalances, etc. regarding s-e-x. Strangely, however, you're entirely unconcerned about such things as they pertain to having a 36" blade put through your gut, being blown to bits in battle, or being held for ransom. Revealing.
Finally, if someone is perfectly sober and pretends to sleep through being f**ked, they have consented to same. And if you think someone can actually sleep through being f**ked, you are a virgin and way too young and naive to be watching this drama.

Who cares what you think isn't "right?" Your perspective is twisted.
How bizarre is it that this story contains murder, betrayal, theft, and all manner of other vile activities, but the one thing that "shocked" you is some low-key, non-violent sex between boss and underling?

So, I'll, you know, take a pass.

Hope something, anything, happens in episode 4.
I have a feeling what you wrote here is beyond little Lily Alice's ability to comprehend.
Thanks for sharing.

I ranked it a 7/10, which to me is average.

The leads are talented, but the material and direction betrayed them.

Very bizarre, that's how.
