These characters, as portrayed in their open and friendly interactions with Hioki, would have been seen being friendly and open to others, too. Just my take, of course.

If I were a Korean celebrity, I would tell the public as little as possible about my private life. I'd keep such announcements extremely brief and to the point, excluding the gushing prose that only fuels parasocial BS among fans. There's no need for all the thanking and groveling and promise-making concerning my private affairs.

My announcements would be strictly about business, upcoming projects, etc. Of course, I'd thank fans for their support, but only as it relates to work. Example: "I have great news to share. I will be marrying the person I love most in the world next Spring. Thank you for respecting our privacy as we move ahead together in life's journey." That's it.

Because if something goes wrong down the line, say this marriage doesn't work out, for example, this kind of thing will only be used against OTY. "Oh, you promised this, you said that, and you failed, blah blah blah..."

It's sad, but such is the state of the fan/public/celeb culture in Korea.

Yeah, I agree about how slow it is. Nothing of importance has happened in three episodes I may try to hold out until the rest have aired, then binge it. Maybe watching all eps together will grant me at least on half-hour of worthwhile content.

Especially in the case of this show, that is a good choice. Almost nothing of import has occurred in the first three episodes.

I didn't intend to sound argumentative. If I came across that way, I apologize. A discussion that includes opposing viewpoints doesn't have to become a hostile argument. oops, am I arguing about arguing now? :)

Of course, I haven't read the screenplay. Didn't mean to imply that I had. But I believe what ends up on screen is a reflection of the screenplay, though, in this case, I believe the director made lots of bad choices that undercut what could have been even better performances from the two talented leads.

I think you and I may mean two different things when we refer to "writing." I am referring to the writing of the screenplay, which adapts the Manga to live-action format, in ALL it's details, from dialogue to scene sequence, to extensions, action lines, to blocking, setting, and much more.

Lots of shitty, whole stories get told in six episodes. and lots of shitty dramas dominate on Gaga and FOD.

I'm not saying this drama is "shitty," just that its performance on the platforms you mentionedd do not necessarily reflect quality.

I ranked it a 7/10, which to me is average.

Ever seen the Korean sci-fi flick, "The Host?" Well, then, you "accept" dumping toxic chemicals into the Han River and the subsequent, mutant monster's brutal devouring of Seoul's citizenry, yes?

Your original comment is of a type that's rampant on MDL. It's an entirely performative exercise in letting us all know how deeply "shocked" and distressed and concerned you are about issues of consent, power imbalances, etc. regarding s-e-x. Strangely, however, you're entirely unconcerned about such things as they pertain to having a 36" blade put through your gut, being blown to bits in battle, or being held for ransom. Revealing.

Finally, if someone is perfectly sober and pretends to sleep through being f**ked, they have consented to same. And if you think someone can actually sleep through being f**ked, you are a virgin and way too young and naive to be watching this drama.

Wow. I found the writing and direction to be the worst aspects of this show.
The leads are talented, but the material and direction betrayed them.
