lol
Given the incredible actor Chris Wu has evolved into being over the last 17 years, it was fun to see him in this budget-free, cheesy, flesh-and-undies fest from his early days. :)

Title Abang Adik Spoiler
Holy s**t.Outstanding in every possible way.Sensational direction/acting/cinematography/writing.Wu Kang Ren is…
1. Why didn't Adik immediately tell on himself to the authorities to spare Abang when he discovered he had returned and confessed to the killing? He did not know, and never found out, that Abang is the one who actually ended her life. Given his love and adoration of Abang, and that he is at heart a good person, how could he possibly allow Abang to suffer and die for something he did?

2. Why didn't Abang tell Adik before he left to go confess, that it was he who accidentally suffocated and killed the social worker? Both to relieve Adik's guilt, and so he would understand what he was doing. I know Adik would have tried to talk him out of it, but he wouldn't have succeeded. Why leave Akik thinking he'd actually killed her when he didn't?

And if not then, why not tell him when Adik visited him in prison?

the moment they hugged each other at Money's birthday celebration, i just knew one of them would die 😭 my instinct…
Ah yes, but so beautifully made in every way.
Forget tearing up...I completely lost it both times.
Wu Kang Ren (Abang) is a sensational actor. Wow. The scene with the monk...that was one, long take with the camera on him the entire time. I'm in awe.

Thank you. You are correct: I am American, and thus ignorant of how most of the rest of the world does things. :P My question was more regarding the seeming awkwardness of having an ex-GF around so much. That aside, I don't think that actress is well-cast, given that she seems much older than him, at least to me.

Why the hell isn't the amazing young actor who played Dong Hu listed here?

Spectacularly perfect.
Deals with discrimination and bullying of people with disabilities without once seeming preachy or maudlin. Even better, I felt free to laugh with the boy's goofiness because I never felt I was being asked to laugh AT him, though characters in the film certainly did from time to time.

What a great, talented little actor this lead is.
The unconditional love of his father, who also laughs along with his boy's quirks, was a joy to behold.

Bravo. Highly recommended.

I just watched a version of it on Bilibili, where the audio was only slightly out of sync in the last two-thirds.…
You are watching on a phone? I'm on a laptop and am getting the message to download the app. Is there a way to watch this on a desktop or laptop? I can't figure it out.

You are CORRECT. Thanks for refreshing my memory on all that. Can you enlighten me as to why she lives with her ex's family, especially since she has a real job and one would assume, can afford an apartment of her own?

I appreciate what you said about the tantrum at the table being about watching the guys have a relationship she (cruelly) told SP he wasn't capable of. I was thinking more along the lines of simple jealousy.

Exactly. Her thing for SP doesn't ring true for me. Didn't SP already tell her he was hot for Sean? I thought she knew he was gay. He's brushed her off more than once. Plus, she comes off as a few years older than SP. And then she's surprised Sean is there and acts like a b***h at the table? Nah...bad writing.

Lee Jung Jae is spectacular in this film. However, unless I misunderstood the character, he seemed 15 years too old for the part. Same with Park Chul, who would have been more believable as those kids' grandfather than dad. Whatever, I loved the movie overall and both of them are great.

Great battle scenes; all the action and fighting seemed one hundred percent authentic. Well done.

Liam Neeson makes a great MacArthur, but was saddled with two or three painfully artificial propaganda speeches that should have been rewritten or cut. And what is it with Caucasian actors in Korean films? Their acting most often is wooden and unnnatural, like total amateurs.

I nitpick. Great war film. Highly recommended.

ummmm...I think we're SUPPOSED to be bracing ourselves...
Got it. I understand. I thought the same thing. I mean, who wouldn't lock the door under those circumstances? And if you can't lock the door, then you need to cool your jets til later, right? lol I don't care, I loved seeing them make out and I was swoony, hot, AND bothered. :) I know what you're saying and if they ARE interrupted it will definitely be a cliche/trope/lazy writing.

I often feel that with a bit more time and care taken, writers should be able to come up with other ways to explain why a door wasn't locked, for example. :P

Ignore the usual self-righteous MDL Church Lady scolds below ("I CONDEMN cheating in the strongest terms but I'm going to watch this movie from start to finish anyway!" lol)

This is a thoroughly enjoyable comedy for grownups. By "grownups" I mean viewers who understand that movies don't exist to teach moral lessons to guide them in their life choices, and who can laugh at the mistakes of others when presented in a humorous way.

I laughed a lot.
Recommended.

On edit: Why in hell is this rated 18+? Sex scenes are mild and more for laughs than anything else. This is a soft R at most, more like a PG13. It's amazing how many MDLers are unbothered by horrendous violence and gore, but a light sex comedy twists their knickers asunder.

I just paid attention to your screen name. Live in Chicago?

So, have you watched this flick yet?

Well, yeah...pretty much. That's what the "...and we gay men..." part was about. :)
In truth however, I prefer a nice butt to a nice wienie any day.

And here we are...running into each other again. What shall we argue about tonight? You have come to mind a few times over the last couple days. I've been exploring random "best/popular/whatever Asian movie" type lists, and the dreaded "Old Boy" kept popping up. hahaha...honestly, I just couldn't get into it. Plus, I truly felt I knew the twist when the ML/FL met in the sushi restaurant, so what was the point?

You may not believe me, but my fave movies are fucked up/weird/unusual/dark/disturbing/sexual/twisted, so you'd think Old Boy would be for me, right? Not so. It was like I hit a wall of some sort after they met and started hanging out. One thing I didn't buy was this young, super-beautiful, sweet woman being hot for the grungy, ugly dude. BUT...that's another thing, I instantly knew the writer was coming up with reasons for them not to have sex to draw out the suspense and set up the reveal, but her reasons for holding off felt contrived to me.

Anyway, a lot of people love OB and that's fine. I'm not one of them.

I watch FAR more Korean films than Japanese, but there are plenty of good JP films out there. When I saw Kora Kengo's name, I thought I'd try it. He's a favorite of mine. And yes, I very much would have appreciated some nude KK scenes. He is exceptionally beautiful.
