I enjoyed it, it was well made and my heart fluttered while watching Xiao Fan and Lu Qing. I'm soft on protagonists who are described as 'pathetic' or 'meek' by others, and I felt that Xiao Fan was always between a rock and a hard place so his behavior made sense. I liked how they didn't hold back showing the class divide and how that caused tension between the families. Sometimes I felt there was some big context missing, probably from not being able to carry things over from the book.
But overall, I liked it and felt a spectrum of emotions while watching.

This drama is so well made. It's cute and hilarious. I love the bathroom humor.

Zhang Zhun didn't hold onto his anger at being violated in the end and he didn't get an apology. I didn't think the drama would turn out to be so sloppy about it because they've been rewriting FC/GZ so carefully.

Gao Zhun and the men orbiting him, a darker harem than Secret Relationships. 😹

I gave it a chance after dropping it once, but there's not much to look forward to between Kelvin and Veir; I don't feel anything during the couple scenes, not anger nor affection. Kelvin is more interesting being a villain to other people than to Veir. The captive scenes could've been more tense and resentful on Veir's side, but they were inconvenient at best.

I hate showbiz stories but I love the actors in this so I'm tolerating it hard.

So they're using Zhen Xin as the reason why Fang Chi and Gao Zhun's scenes can't be as intense in the novel? Well, that's cute. Though I disagree with him that it's love between them.
At least it's a part of the plot instead of deleting things entirely.

They just finished filming season 2 and the preview photos look way less enclosed and low budget. They can afford extras now. 😹 I'm excited as one of the only fans of this show. Sometimes you want Wattpad levels of melodrama in your media.

Those chapters are in the physical release of the book. I don't know if anyone has them online. I haven't read them unfortunately.

You understood it, but the friend wrote a book. The doctor and patient (who became his victim later) are the real couple. The actors are the fictional ones in a book, but they are filming a movie inside it. It's confusing if you think too hard. 😹

Not really, the drama only follows Chen Hsin and Zhang Zhun's story the same and rewrites the other couple's scenes.

The plot twist is that Fang Chi and Gao Zhun are the real main characters and Fang Chi's friend wrote the book about the actors based on their story.

There are some dramatic things that happen, like cast/staff members hitting on Zhang Zhun (like Wu Rong or the director). But Zhang Zhun and Chen Hsin are mostly kept in tact.
Fang Chi is the one who has been changed the most. In the book, he's secretly sadistic and resentful toward Gao Zhun because he can't ignore his feelings when Gao Zhun seduces him. His therapies become more deranged until the car scene where he rapes Gao Zhun and then flees the scene. There's no heartfelt call, he just abandons him.

I found it boring that they were indecisive around how unethical they wanted Fang Chi to be and sometimes made him look too rational or neutral. I get annoyed when people try to claim something as heavy as abuses MLs like Fang Chi do is irrelevant if the couple ends up together eventually, so I lean toward "just make him worse". Harder to defend that way.
But I agree the book got melodramatic toward the end. I don't know how the screen version will handle 'that' character later because it's too complicated.

It's like this in the book, too. In fact Fang Chi initially looks more professional and reliable there. It's about how he can compartmentalize between his competence as a therapist and his sadistic thoughts around Gao Zhun. They're both way more flawed, but Gao Zhun is undeniably a victim in both.

Right? Does she have to suffer to prove that she loved a guy she barely saw for half a year and was essentially a sex friend? People are really weird about loyalty in the women's direction when the guys rarely thought about them to begin with.

I enjoyed the book until 70% of the way when the writing got butchered. If only the drama kept Fang Chi twisted like he was in the novel instead of writing new and confusing scenes. They wanted to create a balance between nuance vs. indulgence for the screen, but it's a boring one. Hope I can eat my words after the episode tomorrow.

Episode 7 is a weak episode. I was wanting an episode about Chen Xin and Zhang Zhun to ground the show after the intensity of last week, but it doesn't inspire confidence because it appears like a filler. They are scenes built around a romantic confession rather than the "try it and see" promise that it is.
The scene with Danyi appearing out of nowhere is so awkward, and the girlfriends' conversation is too convenient a wrap up. I haven't finished the book, but if this conversation exists, it doesn't happen anywhere close to the these specific scenes.
The highlight of the episode was Chen Xin's question about emotional vs. physical intimacy.
