Douban score 7.0. don't hold me. Are they fkin kidding?!
7.0 is not bad at this stage...usually popular dramas get downvoted really bad like a 5+ or 6+. So even if there are antis...it also looks like many like it. Hopefully, the score will rise later.
do you mind summarizing for me whats the smuggling deal with bei qi is? i feel like even 25 eps is too much for…
From what I can understand, Fan Xian realized the sums didn't add up in the accounting of their commercial arm and someone was using it to smuggle deals and making a tidy profit from it. He wanted to find out who profited from the smuggles and offered the Bei Qi Queen Dowager a 30% cut if she allows it to continue (also as an excuse to keep tabls on Bei Qi). He eventually found out that the profit was going to the First princess and 2nd prince who are likely plotting something detrimental to the country.
This is based on what I can make sense of. If you wanna watch, the deets are in ep 24 and 25.
I watched about 8 or 9 episodes of S2 before deciding I NEEDED to recap on S1 cos the only two things that I could remember were Wan Er and her drumstick, plus the scene where Fan Xian recited hundreds of poetry.
I'm so glad there was a special 25-episode, and the editing was flawless. When I first watched S1, I think I lost a bit of interest in the last few episodes. Not exactly sure why so I rated it an 8 back then especially with that kind of cliffhanger. Well, after completing the recap, I've now revised my rating to 10 for S1. I'm also starting S2 afresh. This is the kind of drama to savor and not rush through. So yes, I'm super loving this drama and probably only watching this for now.
Yes...I watched S1 years ago and had forgotten like 80% of the details. Am watching the special 25-episode recap right now before coming back to this one, which I'd watched like 4 episodes already.
I went back to watch season 1 while waiting for new episodes and am so appalled I'd forgotten so much of the story. The only scene I remember very clearly is Wan Er and her drumstick.
Well I rated it 7.5 myself and dropped it on episode 27. There's too much unnecessary violence and cruelty in…
Honestly I am not fond of this genre so some things are hard to watch because of the intensity. I also find 40 episodes too long. I watch with trepidation that the ML will get exposed and tortured. But I love Yang Mi so am watching it mostly for her. I don't mind her voice. I agree with people who says she has her aura... Maybe you don't like her but it's okay. I love Ni Ni too but hmm...I think the frailty of the FL adds a unique dimension to such a genre. Plus her character is complex and it's more about playing mind games than competing physical strength here.
I'm midway watching this drama and it's pretty intense. The cast is amazing and Yang Mi is so pretty here. But the editing is sometimes off and it takes awhile for me to get back on track. So having said all that, I'm surprised by the rating. 7.5? Really?
I'm in Asia so not sure if it's available to all. If I hadn't seen the trailer with the end credit on another website, I wouldn't have realized and looked it up my Disney+
I'm rubbing salt on a wound fore sure. ^^ The well deserved Best Director award for Han Dong Wook at the 59th…
Let's hope there's a change of judges and decision makers at Baeksang. Whoever makes up the panel needs to go. Or they can include a most popular actor/actress category, instead of nominating popular actors/actresses for best actor/actress and depriving the real good ones of their spots.
I started out by really liking it. Great acting, great OST, interesting characters, singular theme, minimum tropes...…
I am watching up to ep 18 and I get you. I think I really got into this drama in ep 4 or so but by ep 17 and 18, I feel it's heavy. I started to ff some scenes. I think stories that center around death can get depressing if they go too indepth. I applaud the show for dwelling into all the emotional bits but I agree with you, it's too much. You know who I watch it for? Wan Peng! Cos her arc is light and quite funny.

What do you bother with linking to the article? You're doing exactly what she wants you to do...get more clicks into her trashy article. I wouldn't bother with giving her the publicity. Why invite more people to read her trashy article and know her trashy site? It'll be good if you can just remove the link. If people want to read, they can google. Don't give her publicity more than she deserves.
In life you will encounter nice people and bad people, and you will also have those relatives that annoy you that…
Popularity does not equate to good quality. Rating on Douban is 6.4 by 111751 people and that tells you it's not liked by everyone. If it's above 7, then perhaps I can say it's quite well received.
Anyway, why are you so perturbed by my opinion? If you like the show and want to rate it highly, that's fine. But I posted negative comments about the show, and you feel the need to come and justify "how good" the show is to me? What do you need to prove? Whatever it is, it's not going to change my mind you know. And I'm not that important also. Haha.
There were shows I like a lot and the comments section was a mess. I felt the same way...what are these people saying but I realized it's just a show and I don't have to be so emotionally vested and expect everyone to like it too. There will be people who like it and people who dislike it. And this is a comment section, meaning, both sides can come and post their thoughts. To save myself the heartache, I stopped tracking the comments section altogether. I just posted my short reviews about it and move on without scrolling through and reading the negative comments.
As to why I posted the negative comments when I could have just dropped the show was cos I genuinely hope the show could do well and am disappointed with how it has developed. I think I have the right to post how I feel about it and you can leave it as that without coming to prove your point again and again. There is no right or wrong to prove and there is no award to take home.
