Can his actions influence her? Actually the way to her heart is security for her beloved Yanzhou and Wei. ep. 18 21:49. ( Five hundred fine steeds for Yanzhou.) His gift knew more than he realized.

The sub says that the horses are for Yanzhou. So it's for the Qiao family. But the implication is that she is important and her state and family are important to him and by extention, Wei.

Good points. I think that the 500 war horses symbolizes commitment to Xiao Qiao more than helping Yanzhou or the Qiao Family. Yanzhou still lacks a good general and a good leader. I suspect that they need that more than the horses. And unless Yanzhou lacked enough horses before, infantry suddenly placed on war horses do not make an effective cavalry. Training cavalry takes time.

By episode 5. Wei Shao has come to understand that Xiao Qiao is valuable. Her actions rallying the citizens of Xindu and then switching their allegiances to Wei Shao shows a political deftness that even with advice from Advisor, he has yet to match. The wedding locks her to his side, even if at arms length, and wards off his Mother's attempt to have her own influence in his bedroom. For Xiao Qiao, proximity to Wei Shao allows her to understand and influence the Wei palace and to keep her beloved Yanzhou safe.

It would seem that the reason why the doctor ended back in the small town may be an operation gone wrong perhaps connected to drinking. That stalker at the end of ep. 4 may be intending revenge.

That could mean the ending wasn't ire raising and perhaps that there are two or three other dramas that have started as this one ended. But I guess that this thread had more complaints that hosannas.
