I wondered if Hua (Mei Lin) were wealthy, as they lived in a several story building that was rather nice. But…
You could be right. He was away daily quarrying stones in a mine. Why was Mei Lin sleeping there and where was the Mother? I think that the location was chosen for dramatic sense.
1- The first episode. The meeting of the two.2-The first scene with Mei Lin-powerful assassin.3--The opening song…
I read a bit later that elitles 1 is re-watching episode 1 and commenting here, right now. So I re-watched ep. 1 and made a comment just now. As I watch more of episode 1, I will add to my initial comment. Thank you. I thought that her comments might be in the episode guide, but they are apparently here. Don't mind me. I usually observe and enjoy the comments.
Episode 1: (The boy, a villain, um anti-heroi ? The heroine, a revenge killer?)⬇️
I wondered if Hua (Mei Lin) were wealthy, as they lived in a several story building that was rather nice. But her clothes and the Fathers weren't very expensive looking. And we didn't see the Father in the last episode. That Shadow Works training made me reflect. Such kind of special forces training with extreme physical training and brutalization serves to desensitize and make them callous so that they can follow orders and kill without thinking nor question. Pushing the recruits to the extreme during training also allows them to discover hidden sources of strength and determination. After that, exercising enough to maintain conditioning and skills are enough. Being pushed further will only weaken the body. We should have seen her undertaking a number of assassinations because experience often trumps drills. The discussion with the CP and the Emperor has a moment where the Emperor give the CP a look when he talks about Jinghe and the Qingzhou massacre. Did he know or suspect the truth even then? Six carriages carrying 100 beauties and a princess. Pretty crowded at 16-17 to a carriage. lol.
I guess these revenge enemies to lovers dramas is that the beginnings are often spicier, hotter than later on as the initial misunderstandings are cleared up. Had Jinghe been the villain and that she slowly, ever so slowly fell in love with him but still killed him, then the expectations would have been more than exceeded. Cud chewing.
It has the same elements as the end of the book (but with a different look). Sad and happy at the same time.
I think that you are right. But for me, I'm thinking, "Who the hell would want a sad ending when they could write a plausible happy ending?" Thank you.
I just started this few days ago and now episode 20 feeling tense already. Back to back 3 dramas with SE. yet…
I really like The Guide to Capturing a Black Lotus - Love Game in Eastern Fantasy. It is a soothing cure for the heavy heart after the ending here. Hope it doesn't go dark. Zhu Xu Dan, the sister was Lu LI (FL) in Cute Programmer (2021) .
I genuinely feel like she shouldn’t have been an assassin in the first place because it wasn’t consistent,…
I guess they had to give Baron Chen his sweet ending and love to reward his scenery chewing throughout the drama. So Mei Lin, and Jinghe for that matter, couldn't deliver the fatal stab or slash. And they had to leave her out the final battle otherwise the CP would have died there. If Mei Lin killed the CP then she could have still gone back with the Prince Heir as the price for her antidote. Had to have screen time with the eye candy.
Writers second guessing the censors who may not approve of an assassin becoming the Empress and his sole love at that? I prefer that they went back to the village with Wei and Jia.
Thank goodness I waited until it ended to see if I should I give it a try. Some of the reviews saved me from watching…
Perhaps you might check out My Bargain Queen. (2021) It's the only other drama of hers that I have watched. Enjoyable but I was just starting out in Cdramas then.
There was no need to kill ML and many adorable characters! A complete disaster!
Any love or devotion that existed or blossomed was extinguished by the writer or director thinking that it would be impactful. I'm stuck between denial and anger. sigh
