I understand your point. I also want to see him take on more diverse roles, while still wanting to see more of the characters I already love. I’d even love a 2nd season of Are You Safe?, although I know that’s impossible, and I’d like to see more depth to Shen Yi, or even a spin-off of Xiang Liu,...my wishlist just keeps growing.

The thing is, the 2nd season ended on a cliffhanger so people were already expecting more. That said, I’m really glad he isn’t relying on the success of previous seasons when choosing his next projects.

Lin Yuhui (the inspiration for Shen Yi) stated that UTS3 will not be filmed. This was because of disagreement between Tan Jianci and the production company: they wanted him to sign the contract before the script was written, while he preferred to review the script first.
I’m disappointed that we won’t get a 3rd season, but I really respect Tan Jianci for prioritizing the quality of the project.
