How is it that Japanese dramas have had like 1 decently written show over the last 10 years lol (Gannibal). The concepts are amazing and the execution is almost always bad.

They need to hire a writing critic for every show who will find everything wrong with the script, then send it back to the writers to fix it.

Is everyone just not a big fan because it's a slow burn? It got a 4/5 from Japan Times and South China Morning Post, both of which are not easy to please with their reviews.

IMO Nam Joo Hyuk looks a bit too tween-y for this role. Would've been better to cast someone more masculine/older looking. Then again the tween look is in for most Asian dramas these days

I always get thrown off by how a lot of Korean actors look without their curtain hair haha (and some Chinese/Japanese too). Yoo Ah In looks like a lesbian with this haircut.

It only has 1 element in common with Squid Game, but yeah, the writing is noticeably bad in places. Japan has by far the most interesting culture and best sounding language, but their writers are mostly terrible

Masaki Suda looks so out of place here. Something about his face is very childish and doesn't fit the rest of the cast.

This is my first taiga. I'm surprised to find the writing in this is much higher quality than a lot of regular Jdramas.

Wu Jing is awesome, but the trailer looks so cringe and Marvel-ized

Can someone explain why Higashide is hated but Oguri Shun gets a pass? By all reports, Oguri Shun is out cheating right and left, yet he has 4 kids. Is the difference that his wife tolerates it, while Higashide's obviously didn't?

Last few episodes were much much better than I feared. Decent landing. Excited for season 2.

Halfway through. Actions scenes are peak. Actors are top notch. But I'm a bit concerned about some of the writing. Fujii Michihito's works all seem to be mediocre, and I'm worried this one will end up this way too. Also saw an interview where he says he might deviate from the books and write his own ending for future seasons. Also pretty concerning.
