i was going to ignore how homophobic this show was but i really couldn't when they introduced that gay office worker. he was literally used as a gag humor plot and nothing else.
this show also gets all over the place with the side plots, there's so many of them and only the serial kidnapping one is mildly interesting, everything else feels forced and written just to add to the length of the ep.
that said, the main romance plot is really good. the ml and fl have great chemistry. it almost feels like the ml has an actual crush on the fl and he isn't just pretending.
ultimately, i can see it getting good reviews when it came out but it's not a good show to watch in today's time.
1-5 great, but the last ep was a mess??? did the writers forget what the previous episodes were about? i really was expecting a good closure but it just made me go wth.
You really wrote exactly what I was thinking. The writing feels lazy and rushed. Ah Jin suffered, but it always feels surface level but the writing never dives deep into her psyche.
it started off great, but the moment they started focusing only on the black and white aspect of ah jin, it started to lose its watch value. ah jin is not the kind of character that can be hated or loved, she's in the grey area of things. but the actress did such a great job playing her! she's really talented and honestly a new fav of mine:))
explain it then ??? If it so obvious why the fuck do so many people agree she made shut if Arisu
it seems like you don't have a fundamental understanding of usagi's character. she's not the kind of character who'd cheat, that is why believing that she wouldn't do something out of character is normal. you keep talking about the hug, completely disregarding the fact that everyone on that train thought they'd die and they barely survived, so ofc she's happy. it's also misogynistic that one hug is all it took for her for people like you label her a cheater.
usagi even hugged the child she met, and protected him even though she barely knew him. if he was a bit older, i guess that would her cheating on arisu too, right? you need to understand that usagi character is of such a kind that she cares about other people's life, and she would never let someone else die. so when ryuji, the ONLY guy she knew in the borderland up to that point, survived a near death game with her, she hugged him.
but you probably will never get it, because once a cheater, always a cheater. every character is not black and white, and every action is not good or bad. usagi did what anyone who survived death would, she hugged the only person she knew from before the games. she's not cold enough to not care about ryuji, because that's just how her character is.

you think she made that choice to go back? ofc she did not. after she returned from the borderland, she didn't remember the place like the rest of the survivors. not to mention that she still had trauma from losing her dad, and dreamt the same nightmare every night. she was easy to manipulate and that's what ryuji did, he gave her a chance to see that nightmare through, to find out about her father and she took the offer.
secondly, she was in a place that she realised could only be won when you trust the people around you. she went there with ryuji and hence wanted him to safe because she believed him to be a good person. was that so evil of her, to believe someone who came into the borderland with her? to want them to stay alive so that they can go back to the real world. it's not romantic, it's just humane. she was happy that ryuji survived because he came here with her, but she never once prioritised him over arisu.

you wouldn't understand because you are convinced she cheated on him. but even so, id like to say that when your life is on the line and when you don't even know if you're gonna live to see tomorrow, the people close to you become the ones you cherish the most, but that does not mean that arisu meant nothing to her because of it. she had no idea he would be here, because trust me if she did, she would always be worried for him and wouldn't even think about anything else.
