As in the title, the main theme is promises the leads made to each other through out the drama. The longest promise is the last promise SY made to ZY.
In the moral sense, don't make promise that you can't keep. With a man with high moral and integrity as SY, do you think he took his promises lightly? I think not.

Ending spoiler, kind of

Either you love or hate the drama to dear life, at least appreciate the original soundtrack and original score.
Sweeping, endearing, epic original score, the best for me of all c-dramas I have watched. I keep re-watching on NF on big TV with surround sound system, makes me appreciate the music even more.
I wish I knew who the composer is and the orchestra that brought the score to life.

Wow, who are you dissing? I'm a fan of XZ too. But there is no need to talk down to other actors/actresses. It takes two to tangle. So no, he did not carry his dramas alone.

Level of experience of what? dancing or acting? I don't see a problem with her dancing, but everyone can see differently. However, If acting then I disagree. Her acting was great here imo. I also watched her other dramas/movies. I must say she's young, versatile, talented actress. I couldn't believe she was only 17 or 18 when she starred in Cry Me a Sad River, or 19 when she starred in
Serenade of Peaceful Joy. I cried buckets. I don't see any criticism about her look or smile in her other dramas/movies, only here, just because she starred with XZ

It's a comment section. Everyone can say whatever they want. You post something, you may have a response in which you don't like or don't agree with, especially when saying someone is a gift from heaven.
So, chill, don't take it to heart. XZ will be very happy knowing he is the property of the world. And I'm waiting for the boomerang coming back at me LMFAO

I'm so done with those popular modern fluffy romance dramas this summer.
So, I'm glad I started watching this drama. Just finished couple of episodes and really like it.
Few thoughts so far - someone needs to give Ren Zhen a hug. Poor kid, young and smart but she rarely smiled, always looked like she carried a big burden on her fragile shoulder.

Well, if it's only the voice then you can blame on dubbing as she did not sound like that in other dramas/movies. There was an "explosive" drama last year, the FL spoke in the same pattern but not many seem to mind.
I would watch in silent mode 😁. But if the story, characters that you don't like, then it's a different story

I did actually. Of all, I dropped TU and DC. It was weird that he was not memorable to me until this drama. Then I went back and re-watched TU all the way without skipping 😁 Not sure I want to watch WDB as it's another piece of propaganda machine for the government

Still few more weeks before summer ends and there’s no currently aired c-drama/k-drama that keeps me interested😒 . I’m so bored that I keep re-watching this drama and reading comments here.
It’s fun and entertaining with these colorful comments. We have it all, from constructive criticisms to zodiac reader to quoting Shakespeare and to something else in between🤣 .

I finally finished TU. Have mixed feeling though, but I'll keep it to myself.
Now I understand why die hard fans have problem moving on and accept XZ with other leads. TU has become a classic. Wei Wu Xian and Lan Wang Ji were immortalized and well deserved so, but these fans have to move on at some point.
