Sorry but this girl doesn´t convince me, she only has empty pretty faces
Park Bo Young is a great actress, the strongest out of the cast but her mannerism tends to read the same in her drama series. She’s done 4 dramas that involves romantic modern fantasy elements, Oh My Ghostess, Strong Girl BS, Abyss, now DAYS. I hope she picks projects with more substance. Would love to see her in a crime or historical that’s more grounded & not romance.
It’s not a bad rating. 8.2 is actually very good & high. It’s not reaching a 9 but it’s is not a 3 lol.
There’s never been a show that I give a 10. 10 means it’s absolutely flawless. No show here is absolutely flawless. A 9 is a very strong rating. I believe there are plenty of them here but yes, even shows that I think are garbage do have rating in the 8.5-9 range that reads more like 3’s lol.
Which German TV show did you watch, and did you like it? I've seen a German mini-series, "World on a Wire", which…
You’re welcome.
It’s beautifully shot with stunning cinematography. The ost/music score is very good. The acting isn’t too bad either. It’s pretty gritty. I watched it last year. There’s 3 seasons. I put it on hold so I’m not quite done with it but I’m on the last season.
Overall, yes I liked it. It is an anxiety-inducing type of show. Because of its a mature audience rating, there are triggering parts. Very intricately plotted. The way it’s directed is quite ingenious. Very unique show with its setup. Haven’t watched anything like it before. It may seem slow but the build up is exciting & once you keep watching it, everything that happens starts to make sense. It has a large cast of characters so it’s important to keep note who is who lol.
I used to be a ‘romance drama’ watcher only in my younger years. But as you get older, the the variations in genre expands & from different countries too, your view of things broadens! Now most dramas I watch tend to be more on the crime/life/drama side. I pretty much avoid strictly-romantic dramas because they tend to bore me lol.
I only started watching c-drama 3 years ago & it open a whole new experience! Heck I even watched a tv show in German. Im trying to get back into J-dramas. The last shows I watched was Alice in Border Land & Erased! Visually good looking shows & story. Super entertaining. I know most j-dramas don’t have the budget on par with cdramas or kdramas but they have a lot of actually good stories. The execution is either a hit or miss but not entirely terrible although some can use some work lol. But the acting I do find it a bit jarring. With c-dramas, I tend to watch historical & periods ones. But I’m trying to get into the feel of watching modern ones too.
I have my own issues with DAYS but let’s not put Goblin on a some creme-de-la-creme pedestal here.
At least in DAYS, TDK isn’t a some kiddy-babbling teen-girl lol. Like imagine being an ancient god and your life is in the hands of a child-yapping teen who talks like she’s 10. Wouldn’t be Doom LOL.
Firstly, the contract is senseless. Why MM had to fulfill a birthday wish in the first place ?? Secondly the conditions…
The drama presented itself with a magic system when it created a ‘contract’ between Doom & TDK. Meaning there are restrictions or laws in a contract right. Doom sets it up & tells TDK. So I’m saying in reference to @Suzy comment that if the contract is easily bendable & reworked around as the story goes, then there isn’t much stake nor tension. I find the magic system rather flimsy because of that.
It’s like when someone gives you a set of instructions on how to build a thing. You start building the thing and almost finishes it. Everything is set up. But then that ‘someone’ suddenly gives you another set of ‘new’ instructions to actually build the thing. So you end up having to rework and unscrew the thing in order to fit the other set of ‘new’ instructions. That would be irritating lol. Like what’s the point of the first instructions then lol.
Analyzing & critiquing shows is fun & an insightful read, specifically to those who writes reviews & whatnot.…
I didn’t read the webtoon so I’m reviewing the show as a drama-watcher specifically. It’s definitely not reaching those ratings but it has the internet buzz. Although I’m not sure which online platform besides tvn & Netflix is it airing also?
Great Review! I honestly tried to get into this but the 1st ep didn’t work for me. The set up in particular with the overt militarism. I’m not to familiar with the actors work (did try to watch Lin Qin in the Song of Glory) but it didn’t click. This gave off Descendants of the Sun vibes & I couldn’t do it lol.
Although Lin Qin is very beautiful! She has such a regal look. She suits historical dramas.

I agree, it’s ‘slightly’ better than DAYS but honestly both were not my cup of tea.

2020 was truly his year! That Itaewon Class banger. I hope he gets more OST offers.

LQ is so beautiful (“.0.”). I couldn’t continue SOG lol.
Let’s see how it fairs next week.
