The excessive use of red makes the drama feel artificial. There's a difference between using a color as part of…
I don't think there's anything wrong with the stuff you mentioned..
Look at one of the most famous directors in the world, Wes Anderson, his films have such a distinct saturated and "unreal" style that almost looks artificial, but instead of taking away from his work, it just adds more whimsy and makes it so much more memorable.
people nitpicking the dumbest things like “too much red” like what..??😭😭
literally my exact thoughts... wdym "too much red" that's literally so damn stupid 😭😭 like I get if it's visually not for you, we all have our preferred aesthetics, but going out of your way to hate on it or say the cinematography is bad because of the red is SO dumb
damn like I'm aware this isn't the best cdrama ever but I'm confused as to why the hate for it on mydramalist is so intense... I've seen worse ones that were hated less
the gloominess almost felt performative... I usually don't mind a little melancholy in my tv series/movies but sometimes it feels like the director is pushing it too much to a point where it looks a little silly, and I felt that way about this
● I did not expect this much chemistry in just 4 episodes holy shit 😂😂 mind boggling levels of romantic tension, and I can imagine it getting even more intense later bc of her oath to never marry
● the plot seems intriguing so far, I haven't been bored yet and I hope it continues that way
● I wonder what's up with her dad? why didn't he show up again? did I miss something? ://
● I have a feeling that the ML already saw her and knew who she was before they ever "met" and then he recognized her when she tried to save him from the public whipping on the first episode
● her relationship with the emperor is cute. The fact that the child actor has a "guest role" label here makes me a bit worried tho
Other viewers have commented on the two things you have discussed in your first paragraph. First, having one actor…
I hear you and appreciate you taking the time to make a mature response, but I don't really agree that these are valid reasons!
The thing is, the casting choices and the childish voice (which I didn't think was for cuteness, I also thought it was to make her seem more like a kid) being to emphasize the age gap, and the fact that it was carefully done and intentional, that doesn't make it any better for me, in fact, it makes it worse..
Again, I think if you make an age-gap romance, the least you could do is not comically infantilize your FL.
I can see it being a good thing from the perspective that they're trying to show us that the relationship only started developing romantically once she stopped looking like a kid and acting/talking like a kid (tho not entirely.) Is this why you believe it was a spot on decision?
But at the same time, if the audience is watching a 17 year old act like a toddler, that's gonna solidify her character as someone who is infantilized, which creates a really weird vibe once they start dating two years later. It borders on fetishization even... It would've been one thing to portray her as a high school teenager, with stereotypical teenage behavior, but they drastically leaned towards a childish image and I really don't think that was the right decision ://
I heard about Victor Ma saying that and I'm currently watching TFF, I'm actually not minding the casting as much as the fact that they took away those traits from his character that u mentioned (false bravado, comedic..etc) I heard some people who read the web novels say that he was actually more like that in his own story originally, but that's for a whole other comment section hahah xD
genuinely can't bring myself to watch something like this that I assume based off of reviews and comments heavily…
I'm also someone that rarely signs up for heartbreaking dramas but I'm sooo glad I watched this masterpiece, I don't think any piece of media has ever affected me in the specific way this one has. But yeah if you're not emotionally ready for a highly emotional portrayal of family dynamics then definitely wait to watch this, think of it as saving the last piece of candy lol it will always be there waiting for you...
I'm in the same boat with Mr. Sunshine, I just know I'm gonna adore that drama but I'm not emotionally available for it at all, but it also makes me a little happy knowing there's a 10/10 drama waiting for me when I'm ready
I have this question if the woman who took seo-ri's body remembers king then why she doesn't remember prince
My guess is that they're doing a superman-with-glasses kinda thing where she doesn't recognize him because he had a teeny weenie meenie mask on in the joseon era 💀 bc during the beach scene she started thinking of the prince and he was like you can't be pining for an ex rn and she said "it must be your voice"... that made me think she thought his voice sounded like the prince
when she said "I know not what rumors you have heard" I thought she was gonna start quoting 50cent lmaaaaaaooo "I don't know WHAT you heard about ME..."
episode 4 from his POV was really sweet I loved his perspective of her (and narration)
