Watched this half through, I guess I won’t be continuing it because a lot of things annoyed me and when I read some spoilers on the ending, I was like nope, I’m not gonna waste my time watching this ass drama. I started watching this because of WCR, but I guess her beauty and talent can’t save a bad script and storyline. The only thing that hooked me up at first is the flashback of their relationship. I was interested to know how they got married and what were their misunderstanding and struggles that caused them to divorce. After knowing this, I’ve become more annoyed at ML when he’s somehow intervening FL’s life especially after he knows that someone is pursuing her.
I hate Africa plot in first episodes, like it’s so unnecessary? What’s the point, really? It doesn’t really add any value to the main couple’s dynamic and storyline, but sure, let’s be dramatic with the whole warzone, I guess. 🙄They could actually just made them had their reunion in any other nearby country or even just a countryside in China, but oh well 🤷🏻♀️
I also hate on the whole mommy trap of his adopted son. Sorry, but every time that kid called her, mama, I don’t know why I got pissed off and I don’t find him cute at all. Idk if I’m more mad at why ML just couldn’t explain it properly to the son that she’s not his mom or at FL who secretly enjoyed being used as nanny since ML is sooo busy with his work 🙄🙄 And what’s with the biological mom plot? Like you gotta be kidding me!!
Love heals my ass, I don’t see any part of it as healing. It’s more of being stupid over and over again. With the spoiler I read, is healing even in a room with us?
It's always interesting to see different opinions about the events in the show . But this time I don't get why…
Yes she didn’t like him romantically, but she liked him for the benefits he gave her. I guess people are not used to watch complex MC that they thought she could change over time to be romantically in love with In Gang given how she liked the affection she received from In Gang’s grandma.
Many people who enjoy Dear X or feel drawn to Ajin’s storyline aren’t admiring her actions or justifying her…
THIS. I really want people to understand that we’re not justifying what Ah Jin’s doing but simply enjoying the storyline and how timing and fate unfold itself.
Every drama adaptation makes changes to the original story. I haven’t read the webtoon, but with the adjustments…
I don’t think she’ll have redemption arc, she’s getting darker after she lost grandma, so no amount kindness that could warm her heart anymore as she said in hell, hope is not something that she could hold onto.
. Coffee shop ownerFirst year: Thinking about how to deal with the female lead after getting outSecond year: Thinking…
He’s definitely her guardian angle and he’s true with his words of what he said in the car with Ah Jin. I feel sorry for him for what happened, and it’s not justifiable for Ah Jin to do that just because she’s desperate but again, like he said, maybe it’s just his fate. Though he was somehow gaslighted and trapped by Ah Jin’s scheme, he’s still the one who hit the bat and killed Ah Jin’s dad, he did the deed, not someone else framed him. It’s really complicated.
When Jun Seo frantically laughed after finding out Grandma’s truth… did he laugh because what he thought was…
He laughed because now he can’t escape from her. He thought that if she killed grandma then he could cut his relationship with her, leave her for good and he won’t feel guilty about her anymore. But since she did have some humanity left on her, it’s mixed feelings which he didn’t trust her when he pinned the death of grandma and In Gang on her, he thought he knew her but he actually didn’t and now he can’t leave her too because of his guilt will always be there.
The way I see it, Junseo is guilt personified. He does NOT love Ahjin and he´s not obsessed with her either.…
You sum it up well. It shows in earlier episode during high school time, when Jun Seo was staring at Ah Jin, he was reminded of the bathtub scene and the guilt is making who he is now. He even admitted it openly during Ah Jin’s birthday celebration. What Ah Jin said to him is hitting the right spot, whcih everytime he condemned her, he’s actually condemning himself because he didn’t do anything back then.
The story is very straightforward. Their a creature that can take in human form and the hunter are frightening…
I know that is not yet explained, we watch the same drama, don’t worry. That’s why I mentioned in my first comment, I’ve so many questions after watching 3 eps and I’m sort of confused. The storyline has yet to answer my questions because it’s still a build up, and so far with all the questions I have, to me, this drama is average, it didn’t hook me in the first place so that’s why I’m waitng for couple more episodes to see if the story moves and answered my questions one by one, I’ll be hooked or not. It’s just a harmless comment of my own take how I feel about this drama tho.
The story is very straightforward. Their a creature that can take in human form and the hunter are frightening…
Yes I know so that’s why I said I’ve so many questions in the first comment, and I acknowledge that it’s just building up. It’s just that with all the questions I have, I’m intrigued with the drama but not yet fully invested. I don’t understand why people take my comments in a different way as if I’m bashing the drama
he didn't know that's why he asked her.. ahjin the one who promised him "no worry, junseo ya.. i'll only date…
But she did let him go? One time during her birthday she said to him that he didn’t have to do anything, she’s gotten over it and she’s fine. Then the next time when Jun Seo was mad at her for In Gang’s death, she said she would never blame Jun Seo while he can blame her all he wants. She also said if he wants to leave her, then do it, run away from her and she won’t blame him.
She could see that Jun Seo has changed after a year, I think that’s why she said those things.
During Ah Jin’s birthday after cutting contact with him for a year, Jun Seo mentioned that his mother treated…
I know 🥲 to me, the two biggest what ifs that hurt too much if we think about it are: 1. What if Ah Jin got into law school? She might live a different life and might become good prosecutor, judge or attorney on solving the cases. 2. What if grandma didn’t die and she finally escape this hell and live happily with In Gang’s family?
I really think that Jun seo is Ah Jin's curse, he's always behind of all of her problems :- Her dad found her…
During Ah Jin’s birthday after cutting contact with him for a year, Jun Seo mentioned that his mother treated Ah Jin bad so he’s willing to do anything to help her because he feels guilty. Ah Jin immediately replied you don’t have to and she had gotten over it and she’s fine. For some reason, I feel that she really mean it when she said that, because even when JS’ mom came to her about JS’ investment, she was like so sick and tired of it.
She was also kinda pissed when JS trapped her to become FL for his novel adaptation and she had to oblige because of his investment. When they’re arguing in his apartment, he asked if she actually fall for In Gang? And she avoided that question. I mean, if she didn’t feel anything, she could just replied no and told him she would come back as promised, and when he tried to lean in and kiss her, she avoided him again.
The story is very straightforward. Their a creature that can take in human form and the hunter are frightening…
I guess not really straightforward to me because I have so many questions. Like how did this earth fiend took human form? who the hell is Ms Lin? What made the hunters be so loyal to protect human from the creatures? I understand Blade & Hound, but kinda confused with Whip’s role. Why do Ms Lin’s group (forgot the name) came to the welfare house and put Gou Ya there? And why the hell they keep the Locust and feed it when I thought they’re supposed to kill them?
I understand it’s just the beginning and it’s still in building up phase, that’s why I said I’ve so many questions. But so far I haven’t fully invested and hooked with the storyline.
So I decided to rewatch ep 5-8 because the whole Ah Jin x In Gang plot is interesting.
Here’s the new insights that confirmed my take that Ah Jin did like being in a relationship with In Gang, she liked (not loved) him because of the things he gave her - fame (power), security, family and kindness. That’s why she went over a year than her original planned and she shed tears for him when he died. But it’s conditional, that’s why when grandma died and he’s no longer in the right state of mind, thinking of retiring and somehow blocking her career with marriage news, she lost respect and no longer see him as someone valuable to her life anymore.
Conversation between AJ & IG during the break up: AJ: Grandmother’s notebook, I stole it. I wanted to win her favor so I could date you. She found it at my place not long ago and she found out what kind of person I am. And from that shock, she…You understand what I am saying? Ah Jin: Sunbae, how you fell in love with me, and what happened to your grandma… In Gang: What did you do? Ah Jin: All I did was tell her the truth. In Gang: I asked what did you do to grandma?! Ah Jin: I simply told her honestly…for once in my life. In Gang: Say that again! Ah Jin: If you don’t let go of me now, you’ll be in hell everytime you think of her. You’re not the type of person who can handle that. Ah Jin: So admit it, our ending was already decided.
She deliberately being vague and made In Gang hated her for causing the death of grandma which she actually felt that it’s her fault as she had her hope. Noticed how she mentioned “hell” because that’s what she feel after the death of grandma that she can’t escape from this hell and she’s being punished for having little hope. Knowing how soft hearted In Gang was, she knows that it’s best to just leave him because he wouldn’t be able to take it. Though she didn’t actually kill grandma, she blamed herself too as she’s being careless about the notebook, causing grandma to feel sad and not eating the whole day which caused her to have dizzy and fell down the stairs. By the break up scene, her heart has gone dark and she’s no longer relying on hope and with In Gang’s mind was no longer aligned with her goal, she had to discard him. That’s why she said she can’t go down with him together and asked him to understand her.
If we jump to the conversation between Ah Jin and Jun Seo’s mom, together with the flashback of what happened between grandma and Ah Jin:
Ah Jin: Do you know when I hated you the most? *In Gang’s voice: What did you do to grandma?
Back to the flashback of Ah Jin & grandma
Ah Jin: I admit… that was my intention at first. But I like In Gang oppa so much, so I…wanted you to love me too. I’ll take care of it, I’ll tell In Gang oppa the truth and end this. Grandma: Look at me, until now, I still stand by it, you’re my one of my children just like In Gang and In Mo. Grandma: When your child does wrong, you scold them, and embrace them again. That’s what a parent does.
Then Ah Jin admitted that she’s wrong and nodded when grandma asked if she won’t do it again. And grandma told her to keep the truth to just between them. At this point, she had her hope to escape from “hell” and live with grandma and In Gang.
Back to her conversation with Sun Jeo’s mom: Ah Jin: I hated you the most when you were kind to me once in a while, because I would be tricked by your kindness and started to like it (fall for it). I was afraid of having even a tiny bit of false hope. That’s what scared me.
When Grandma showed kindness, she’s afraid before and didn’t trust her though she felt good about it. With the incident, since grandma still accepted her when she did wrong, she started to like the kindness she received from grandma. Then when grandma died in front of her, her last hope and last lifeline shattered in front of her.
Ah Jin: But now I know for sure, in hell, hope is something you should never hold on to.
Ok back to the break up conversation, Ah Jin said to In Gang that she simply told Grandma the truth and she’s being honest for once in her life. So she liked him, and she really wanted grandma to love her because she craved for parent’s love and that’s what grandma had been giving to her. So that’s the time when she’s being honest for once in her life, because she actually wanted that life.
Some might say, but she’s a sociopath, she doesn’t know about love and care about others. Sociopath can love someone but it’ll be conditional and to her benefit, which both grandma and In Gang did give her what she wanted during the relationship. She’s also capable of shed tears for others (when grandma fell off the stairs and when In Gang’s death), but I take it as more for herself that she lost what she actually wanted and she couldn’t break free of this “hell”
