As for your shift in perspective, you're not the only one. People have been changing their opinions at an alarming rate. At this point, they should have just filmed two endings. It's a fool's errand to continue to go down that original road. They change/adapt the endings of novels all the time, and this is definitely the one drama that should have gotten a different ending. If things go down as we imagine they'll go, the much awaited "happy ending" may not bring enough happiness for most people to enjoy this drama.
