Interesting. I was just thinking about how versatile he is because he plays these actions roles so well, AND he's…
This is the matter. Not everybody has same taste, and everybody doesn't have to I guess. That's why so much genera are invented. This difference is what makes watching fun.
There are so many victims and offenders in the story. I will talk about each character by name. Por- He is your typical rich boy with rich parents. But with money comes pressure. If his parents weren't so strict with him, maybe he could be a better person. He didn't know non didn't break the camera, but I'm not sure if he would care even if he knew it. He wanted to be better in front of his parents. His inferiority complex started his bullying. I am not sad he died. Top-He is just a bad person. Enjoys bullying the weak. Will do anything as long as it benefits him. He is the one I think deserves to die the most. Tee- He is the one who did the worst to Non. His uncle bullying him doesn't excuse him from anything. He sacrificed Non's life in exchange for himself. Now he seems truly happy with white. The perfect punishment for him would be if white turned out to be a police informant or Professor Kang's relative. I want to see the expression on his face when he realizes white never loved him. I will not cry a bit if he dies. Fluke- He personally did nothing wrong, but he never even tried to stop them from doing anything. I don't understand why they even kept him around. Maybe because he is rich or knows editing? I do not think he deserves to die, but he definitely should be punished for keeping shut about everything. Kang- He is shown as a police informant, but he sleeps with a minor in exchange for money. His character shows your job doesn't define you. You can be good at your job( though it didn't look like it at the restaurant), but be a terrible person. White- I really hope he turns out to be a police informant or Kang's relative. I cannot accept anything else. Tan/New- We get to see him only in this episode, so we have limited info. But it seems he didn't have a good relationship with non. Then after non's disappearance and their parents' death, he becomes unstable. Now, he can do anything to exact revenge. I am rewatching and he is the one always asking questions about Non. But as he is so unstable now, I'm scared he is gonna die at the end. Let's watch what happens. Non- He is a victim of so many things. Bullying, scammed, copyright theft, getting raped ( yes it is as it was in exchange for money(makes it prostitution) and he was a minor, I do not care about the age of consent anybody under 18 is a child for me), getting neglected by his family, previous mental health problems. So many things would make anybody crazy. I am still hopeful about him being alive, but in the scene where Tee sees his watch on his uncle's hand, it killed my hope by 80%. Jin- I wrote a comment before about him being a manipulator. But now I don't think he had that much brain cell to even manipulate anybody. He is just your horny teenager. He liked Non, so tried to include him in their friend group. Tried to help him, but wasn't strong enough to protect him. When he saw kang and non, he saw it as a betrayal and made the video. I do not think he uploaded the video, it must be Tee and Top. But that doesn't exclude his taking the video. As a teenager, he must not have known that it was a criminal offense. Regardless he should be punished for that. With phee, he fell in love at first sight. And got hurt when phee didn't reciprocate. Now I think we will see phee-jin-white in one team trying to survive. Phee- He is a complex character. He is very mature for his age. He loved Non, but Non wasn't much confident in himself to return his feelings. He tried to tell Non to leave the group. When he knew about Non and Kang, it wasn't the sleeping thing that really bothered him most. It was the hug he saw in the office. He wanted to be the person Non confided in. But Non loved him too much to get him involved in all these. He wasn't abandoning him, just wanted a bit of space to clear his mind. If he didn't care, he wouldn't move school. He approached Jin because he was the closest to Non, but he was attracted to him as well. If not for Tan and the situation, he would have dated him. I don't see it as phee cheating on Non. Because I'm sure after the scandal Phee would be with Non as a friend rather than a lover. At least that's the vibe I got from it. Who knows what could happen? But I do not dislike phee-jin. But at first, they both have to come clean about everything. Only then something real is possible between them.
In the end, if Non is alive, he needs proper therapy, medication, and New. People who truly love him. Sorry for the long rant. If you are still here, thanks for reading my opinion about them. Waiting for the next episode.
People having so many different opinions and complex emotions about each character means writer did something good. This is the only show I'm looking forward to watching weekly. But I'm happy it is real-life horror rather than something supernatural. Can't wait to watch next episode.
I have seen several of JC dramas, and this is the one that made me his fan. I never liked him in romcom, I felt he had no chemistry with his coactors. But here I saw chemistry with both FL and WHJ. Hope to see him in more action-based dramas.
People are arguing if Jin is a bad guy or not depending on if he posted the video or not. But the fact that he stayed there to watch and record is what makes him on the same level as others. If you have a crush on someone, you would never want bad for that person. And not to forget every time Non tried to leave these people, Jin made him stay by sweet-talking. He is the one who brought Non into the group. He is a manipulator. If he really wanted to help, he could have. But he was only good to Non because he had a crush on him. I personally think people like him are the worst. We can clearly say that por, tee, top are evil. Fluke is a bystander. He personally did nothing explicit, but he is also to be blamed for letting Non suffer and not telling anyone anything. But Jin knows everything but never tries to get him away from these toxic people. He knows Por is lying about the script, but doesn't do anything. If he didn't have the courage to stand up to him, he could simply leave the group. But he f**king did nothing. So everybody hoping for phee-jin, I want you to keep in mind how Jin is. If they do decide to be together, I want phee to know everything Jin did and accept him as that. Otherwise no happy ending for me.
I have a hard time ignoring some things in the drama. The ML is bullying her. Yes, he may improve in the future but calling someone chubs and behaving this way is really uncomfortable for me. And her dad and the coaches forcing her to gain weight is also so uncomfortable to watch. They didn't even consult her, they just started forcing her. And it's wrong what she did, but hitting her? I can accept making her run, or even make her work but hitting her is too much for me. If sports in real life like this I'm happy I didn't pursue it.
It started with a stalker that follows and observes everything Dae Young does, he noted and recorded Dae Young's…
I also think that it changed direction in the middle. I also found one thing odd. When young Hong dae kissed da jung, did nobody apart from those 3 see them? They did it more than once. They even went on a date, and weren't subtle about it. I thought the post of ep 16 was about them. An adult in relationship with a high-schooler. I think they added it to give us anxiety. But I think it was odd that in their kissing scene it was dohyun was shown instead of the older actor. It's fiction, but the scene made me uncomfortable. The first one was acceptable as she didn't know it was hong dae, but the later ones was dohyun too. The FL had way better chemistry with dohyun than the older actor. I hope if they are given a proper noona romance in future, they won't make dohyun a high schooler.
I don't know whether it is a good idea/message to say it is fine to live with/love an alcoholic underground boss-lackey…
I totally understand where you are coming from. I've never had alcohol, and don't plan on having it in the near future. I dislike the alcoholic nature in kdrama and even jdrama and in thai shows. They glorify it so much that we think this is normal, which is not. After my first watch, I was so angry cause mr.gu knew alcohol is bad for him, but still he continued this way. Not even mi-jieong tries to stop him. It was just so frustrating to watch. But after rewatch I could let go of my frustration with them and focused on the overall message. There are so many subtle messages in the show like, " Life doesn't wait for anybody, it goes on.", " If you don't take the first step, don't expect something to come to you.", "Your one-second decision can change your and somebody else's as well", " Always check your surrounding before talking, or talk in your house", "Don't lend money to people, no matter who they are", "Don't take people on their face value, everybody is pretending and wearing a mask to protect themself" and so much more. I hope you will give it another chance but sometime later. Thanks for the talk!
I don't know whether it is a good idea/message to say it is fine to live with/love an alcoholic underground boss-lackey…
I have some different take on this drama. Rather than taking it on face value, this is more of a philosophical view on life. Mr. Gu's alcoholism is just to represent that he is an imperfect person, but Mi jeong accepts him as he is, doesn't tell him to stop drinking alcohol. He has to be the one to stop it himself, that we see at the end of ep 16. Is this situation ideal? No. But this show is not about perfection. This show is about two broken people who came together and changed each other for the best. Their relationship is less about love and more about understanding and accepting each other. The most important thing in life is falling in love with yourself, which they start to accomplish at the end of the show. They still have a long way to go, but it was a good start. As for other characters, they are as much if not more broken than main leads. But life goes on. When gi-jieong said she would be the man, she said she would be the one to worried and considerate in the relationship. Tae- hoon has to deal with his childish sister, a teenage daughter and a girlfriend and has to balance all of their feelings. She meant to say from now all the worries will be hers. He understood what she meant. He doesn't expect her to do that, but the thought meant a lot. That's why he come to her home to give her a rose where he isn't an expressive person. As for the brother, he is a normal person, he wants to be appreciated for what he does. But life never goes his way. The death of his mother gives him a reality check. And in the end, we see him finding his true calling in life.
Most people are damaged. Not every person can go to therapy even if they want to. They have to move on. The writer just wanted to show that if there is just one person on your side, life becomes bearable. So, we should try to be nice to people even for 5 sec. You never know, you may make that person's day.
This was my take on the story. I just finished rewatching it, so giving my fresh take on it. In my first watch, I was focusing on his alcoholism as an ML and became frustrated at the end. But this time I watched with an open mind and understood it's not alcohol, it's him who is the problem. This is a slice-of-life drama, so it wasn't a happily-ever-after drama. Life goes on. What matters is the journey. Sorry for the long passage.
I have a question. What do north and sonic do? I don't remember seeing them racing. Do they get paid for live-streaming X-hunters races? I am really curious.
