WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE? RUN!

Listen, everybody has their own preference and taste. But, in this case, I AM RIGHT when I say I rather sit nak*d on a hot grill than rewatch this drama. If I can travel back in time, I will use it to stop my past self from rewatching this. The fact that I wasted my precious time and energy to watch this is abysmal but it is what it is.

WHY DO I HATE THE DRAMA?

1. The plot should've been that all the characters are in therapy rather than in college because of the fact that not one person in this damn drama is normal and that should be the first warning. At one point, the second fl attempted murder and almost killed the fl and it was brushed off just like that like???? Okay?!?!?!?! All the leads were unhinged, yes, including the second leads.

2. The ml was the worst male lead that exist in Kdrama. I don't remember much from him because I did everything in my power to forget about this drama but one thing that I remember is how creepy the main lead is. The gaslighting was tremendous in this one. And the beef between the male leads was so childish and main ml retaliation was shitty, it's insane.

All in all, if you disagree with me, you're wrong idc. Argue with a wall, no amount of explanation could make me rewatch this again. Take this as a warning and watch other kdrama (not Hwarang though), you cannot go any lower than this.

SMF RANT

Where to start... The program is a shitshow and the only redeeming quality is the dancers and the dancers only. Buckle up, this is a long one.

First, if you're familiar with MNET, you know how they operate. Money-hungry, fame-hungry, capitalist Mnet who put their interest first over the well-being of their artists. Their first shitty decision is to recruit idol judges instead of experienced and appropriate street dancers. Don't get me wrong, Boa, Wooyoung, and Eunhyuk are great artists and their experiences are amazing but their expertise is hardly different from the participants. It is safe to say that they were not qualified enough to judge the dancers. Not only that, the standard of judgment is clearly more appropriate if you were to judge an idol dancing with the obsession of facial expression over the techniques and skills.

I get that Mnet probably wants to attract the public's attention by recruiting known idols but even back in SWF, the one that made the program popular is the dancers themselves and not the judges. this also applies to SMF. Therefore, the reaction and 'criticism' the judges and Mnet received is warranted.

Next is the unbelievable restriction from Mnet on the dancers. in almost every mission, the dancers were controlled by Mnet. For example, in the Mega Crew Mission, the way the crews have no say on the clothes and songs is ridiculous. In the end, YGX suffered from the rule. In the Muse Mission, it was so stupid that the crew has no freedom on who the muse was on their own. As a result, Mbitious who had a completely different color from La Chica struggles with the mission. It's sad how there is little to no freedom in SMF as compared to SWF.

Third, the biggest irony when for a program named street dancer, there were only two street dancing crews, and most of the missions are very much catered to crews that specialize in choreography.

Lastly, this is me more as a Mbitious stan but the way Mnet portrayed the Mbitious members as incompetent and weak dancers was so evil. Ocheon went from being one of the most respected and talented dancers in the dancing scene just to be portrayed as weak solely because his dancing style is not to the judges' liking and because he is a leader of a 'temporary group'. Every single member of Mbitious was perceived as less than a dancer which is not true at all. If you watched Be Ambitious, you will know how talented and amazing dancer each of them is. The storyline given by Mnet greatly affected them up to the point where they got hate and their ability was questioned by those who not only can't dance but also didn't know them as dancers.

So, if we were to compare between SWF and SMF, based on production, missions, popularities, and judges. SWF wins this by a landslide but I have soft spot for SMF because it introduces me to Mbitious.

There's a lot more that I want to say but I'm getting tired. Despite everything, this is still a good show solely because f the dancers and the quality that they put into every mission. We can clearly see how close they are behind the scene despite Mnet trying so hard to highlight the fake drama.

Anyway, I'm glad this is over and the dancers can go back to their original jobs but with a lot more recognition and popularity. Will miss Mbitious very much though.

BOOO

Scarlet Heart wannabe.

That was too harsh but it's not too far off. If you look at the structure roughly, it seems almost identical (minus the time traveling). A lot of hot dudes, one girl, sageuk, and one golden retriever man (cough cough V and Baekhyun) that doesn't deserve to die.

It's a wasted potential tbh, it could be something as impressive as Scarlet Heart. I couldn't help but compare them as they aired this almost at the same time. Except for Scarlet heart was well done and Hwarang did not.

PSJ's character was so lost in his non-existent beef with PHS, Go Ara character was too busy getting into trouble and waited for PSJ to save her so she could cry over him getting hurt for saving her and the cycle repeats until the last episode. They could've spent the time to expand the Hwarang boys storyline but instead used it for Go Ara crying closeup. The romance between PSJ and GAR was also insufferable.

The only redeeming quality is the bond between Hwarang boys and the second lead couple. Oh and the OSTs. Other than that, it was disappointing which is a bummer considering the amount of promotion the drama gets. They even get a special episode even before the drama airs and the Hwarang boys went to 2 Days 1 Night to promote the drama (2D1N rarely has guests). Imagine how disappointed we are.

Be Mbitious >>> SMF

Oh, how I miss Be Mbitious era. It was easy and simpler times.

Be Mbitious was 10000 times much better compared to the shitshow that is SMF. The judges were knowledgeable and appropriate. The mission was fun and right for the dancers. There were no dramas between the dancers and they genuinely bonded and were supportive of each other.

Don't get me wrong, I love SMF but I keep coming back to this program because of the stark differences. The fact that the be mbitius boys keep in touch after the program and some of them were so supportive of ambitious is so amazing. If you planning to watch SMF soon and have yet to see Be Mbitious, please watch this first. Believe me, it'll help you get a clearer (and genuine) version of Mbitious.

ROMCOM GEM

Everything about this drama is perfect. The chemistry, the banter, the plot, the ending (kinda bittersweet). The only negative point is how short the drama is. TWO FREAKING EPISODES???

I've lost count of how much I've rewatched this drama. Kim Seulgi did a really good job of portraying a high-schooler, she has the right amount of cuteness and childishness of a high schooler. And the fact that she hasn't gotten the main role in a full-length drama is INSANE. The chemistry between the leads is just amazing.

HUGE TW *COMFORT WOMEN*

The theme of this movie is very heavy so the tone throughout the movie is obviously serious and dark. The first 30 minutes is slow but once the flashback started, it got serious so fast.

The whole flashback scene was so heavy and devastating and for some would be too much to bear. Personally, I had to pause several times because the scenes is very detailed and the acting was very convincing. It is also very eye-opening as this part of history. This will leave you in tears so if you planning to watch this, mentally and physically prepare yourself.

p/s: Do stick until the ending credits.

Underrated

I watched the drama without any expectations. I didn't expect the drama to be a masterpiece and tbf it's not the greatest drama out there. However, the drama pleasantly surprised me. It was good, enjoyable, and very relaxing.

There were no relevant plot, so if you prefer drama that keeps you on your toe this might not be for you. It was more of a healing drama that focuses on the fl and her love of poetry. I love the leads together and they had a really cute and healthy relationship that I ended up liking them so much. The second male lead was annoying in the beginning but his character development was nice.

It is a good drama and I recommended it. Give it a try, you might like it. :)
