This is it. This is my new obsession. I haven't thought that much about a series for a long time.
I love how the drama Zhen Xin and Zhang Zhun are acting in blurs more and more into their real lives, creating that kinda third space where they can express their feelings. And i especially love how it's shown to us. At first, the line between the drama and real life was clear, with two different aspect ratio of the screen. But in the last episode, some scenes did not respect this rule. They were supposed to act in the drama, but the size of the screen not changing is easily telling us that their acting goes beyond fiction. The director confuses the names of his actors with those of the characters and Zhen Xin even uses some scenes to explicitly express his feelings to Zhang Zhun ("I'll write you a letter too").... Small details that highlight how their feelings for one another are becoming very real, and which also show that it's not just the actors who can no longer tell the difference between work and reality, but the people around them as well.
And then there's THAT scene, the one where Zhen Xin catches up with Zhang Zhun on the street after the restaurant. How beautiful was that to witness Zhen Xin finally drop his cool, nonchalant, icy act to express his love to Zhang Zhun with teary eyes, calling himself a stray dog. Showing how much he actually cares, how much he YEARNS for him. And to see Zhang Zhun finally giving in, fully accepting his feelings and desire for a man. I was emotional.
I want to congratulate Ollie and Shu Yuan on their performance, especially since this is the very first series they've starred in. I hope this brings them the success they both deserve.
second episode still has some inconsistencies in the plot and some way too long scenes sometimes, but overall it was way better than the first episode!
i'll give the second episode a try once it's out, but so far i'm not convinced. Acting is a bit stiff, some scenes are long, dialogues are slooow or seemed forced and i especially don't understand how Phatsa has never heard about ABO when everyone around him seem to know what it is and their secondary gender. I haven't watched My stubborn so idk if it was the same as Knot in terms of acting and direction, but we'll see how ep2 goes
finished ep 2, it's a bit slow but a light and fun watch so I'll keep watching for now. i also really like the color grading + the cinematography is beautiful
i've only watched the first ep so far, but i like it! i wasn't convinced with tutoryim previous series even tho i think they're good actors, so i'm glad i finally get to enjoy them and their chemistry on screen
i didn't expect this series to be funny fluffy cute hihi haha hoho only, but damn i've only watched 3 episodes and i've ugly cried for each one of them
I won’t call you resentful, I’d call you western. As an Asian myself, no matter how bad our parents are, we…
Thank you for this insight, it's interesting to learn about cultural differences when it comes to the perception of family ! It's true that where I come from, it's more accepted to just leave when there's too much disrespect within a family (even though I've seen a lot of people sharing the same values you're talking about, but often because of guilt more than culture i think). And of course I'm not asking for thai series to change anything about this, i was mostly angry on Pai's behalf and had to voice it ahah
call me resentful, but i would probably never forget my parents and grandpa if they did this to me. Pai was (is) traumatised by the scam and one 'sorry' is clearly not enough to make up for all those years when he was taken for granted and neglected by everyone
1. gmmtv really cooked with OhmPoon, i wasn't convinced after the first episode but now i really hope they become a regular pairing
2. last episode wasn't as emotional as we thought it would be after the grand reveal, but today's episode was better imo, with Pai focusing on work to avoid confronting Tim and his feelings, and then the dinner scene which made me shed a few tears. Loved this episode
