this series has no logical sense at all and the only way to enjoy it is by overlooking those holes and just going with the flow. The fights, characters, actors, story, those are great. And I'm going to read the webtoon now, since a lot of people recommended it here

I didn't see them studying in this school even once, not mentioning any person that could be a potential teacher stopping kids from beating each other to death

something similar? with this level of maturity, professionalism, acting - honestly i don't know. I've watched tons of bls and can't think of anything. A bit of a stretch, but maybe: I told sunset about you, My beautiful man, Where your eyes linger, My Personal weatherman, Advance Bravely (but its not a bl per se).
Maybe someone will have better recommendations

This is just so professionaly shot and every scene is deliberate, I couldn't breath half of this episode... Literally. But at the same time I kept appreciating how carefully thought out it all is. It's so rare in BL's and I'm so so happy to be able to experience this masterpiece from gmmtv, it's their best show by far (though we’ll see what the next episodes bring). The actors perform with their eyes, gazes, faces. And they do it brilliantly. The dialogue is restrained, and the characters don’t talk just for the sake of talking - words are used here as a complement to the emotions conveyed through the visuals, not as a tool to explain the plot or what's going on in characters' heads - we know what they feel because we see it. I'm still confused and in shock because the brilliance of it took me off guard, I totally didn't expect it to be THIS GOOD.

Producers, directors - watch this masterpiece and learn.

"Every word and image is intentional" - on point. We humans feel intentionality rather than see it, because we are great at recognizing patterns. I think that intentional movie/series leaves u thinking: "That couldn’t have been any other way". It feels like it was designed rather than just assembled.

Yeah I've watched Moonlight Chicken and Not Me and I agree that those were great, but this one ep in my opinion is even better when it comes to things I described. I genuinely felt like I was watching some art movie project, not another bl from gmmtv. If it's the same director - hands down, because she's definitely getting better and better at her job and has the urge to constantly learn and improve and be inspired by different kinds of cinema.

Is it possible that GMMTV is actually improving?
The cinematography in here is top notch. Long shots in which the characters actually do something (and it's also meaningful), long shots of the eyes/gazes (which is very powerful for us viewers, eyes are what connects us and draws our attention the most), very well chosen angles, lighting, music that is chosen wisely and boldly... things that are present in a high standard movies. I'm suspecting some really talented production team worked on this. It's different from their previous works and I'm loving it so much.
Also I noticed their bold decisions - like the screaming scene or showing what Jira saw not by showing it directly but through his drawing = through his mind. Those small but impactful decisions create what we call art in cinematography. Everything in this opening episode is so well directed and subtle. I'm proud of GMMTV right now.
Can't wait for the next episode...

Ok this is one of the best BL series I've watched in a while and I'm so happy it exists... Love horror themes mixed with romance. I don't care if anyone here lacks acting skills or not - I'm enjoying it so much.

You know what the irony is? When characters are too realistic they often feel flat. we viewers love over-the-top personalities and strong contrasts in shows - that’s what makes them engaging and entertaining. It’s like with makeup: subtle details disappear under stage lights or on screen, so everything has to be stronger, just as characters in film are often more exaggerated and contrasted to be truly visible to the audience

I said that the games were creative and good this season. When it comes to the characters, no, it's not that the old ones should come back but rather those new ones should be more deep and interesting. But apart from that this season shouldn't happen in the first place. S2 ending was complete

I'm sorry to say that this season was bad. First of all, I didn't have any expectations and didn't even wait for it that much, so I'm not disappointed. It felt so rushed that I didn't even notice that most of those people were supposed to be new main characters xd I didn't have time to notice that I should care about them. Now compare it to the first season... All of those characters had personalities and I grew fond of them. They were smart and they stood out, each one of them in their own way. I loved Arisu and Usagi then, but I was so bored of them this season.

Also the reason why Usagi came back is non existent actually. Her dad wasn't even in the games. What was the point besides running towards the hallucination of him screaming? No idea.

Even the professor's character was ruined. What was his contribution in the games exactly? At least I understand his reasons for going there.

The motivation of the game guy in a blue suit was so shallow - which is the main driving force behind our characters returning to the games and should be the most logical and captivating. I cannot with this.

But the whole point of the games was completely destroyed this season. The point was a metaphor of being on the verge of death and fighting for life. Here they just turned it into some parallel world where you can go to save someone, wtf.

At least the games were creative, but it was irrelevant if I honestly didn't care about those characters at all. They were all unnecessary and stupid.

The whole baby trope, idk - maybe it's because of low birth rates that they decided to add baby/fetus participants now in every game show? 😉 Here the baby even became a hero who saved most of them. Eh.

And what's the main message of this season? We choose between life and death, life is hard, but worth living and choosing life is a good choice. Well probably true, but so cheesy that I didn't expect it from this show tbh.

I just finished reading the novel and I can't stop thinking about it, the idea of the doors there is so deep and I link it to the esoteric/mystic ideas, as well as psychological ones
It was a wild ride and I love the MLs there
Oh what would I give to have a faithful adaptation with fully developed relationship between the leads...
