I loved this so much... it will stay with me for a long time. Beautifully written and beautifully told. I'm happy it was well-received by both domestic and international audiences, very deserving.
I really, really liked it, but that was mainly because I liked the FL and was cheering for her to accomplish her goals. The couple was cute, but I wasn’t my focus—I was more invested in her university experience, life struggles, and newfound family. (And honestly, I think I’d probably choose Hinata aka Marin's dad if I were in her shoes, but I get it. She loved Taku, and he loved her just as much. They were a good match.)
Now, full disclosure about episodes 9 and 10: I hate the sacrificial breakup trope and thought it was completely unnecessary (like the scriptwriter didn't know what to do anymore). And we had not only one but TWO of those in quick succession. I understand what was going through both of their heads, but ultimately, it was ML's decision to go or not go to Switzerland, and he should've been able to make it for himself. He was depicted as this genius student and I refuse to believe that was his only option. And don’t even get me started on what happened next… I had to pause and take a big breath I was so pissed off. After that whole speech about how they would never break up, he DUMPS her? And FL still goes to the airport to say goodbye, and he doesn't even look back? They go no contact for two whole years, and then ML comes back and... proposes? Man. I don't know about that. I just hate this idea that you have to put off a relationship to accomplish your career goals. People change. If you want a relationship that will last you should be able to do whatever as a couple.
Okay, I’m done 😅 Still, those were only the last two episodes! Overall, I still had a good time watching My Second Aoharu. This was my first drama with Hirose Alice and she is incredibly beautiful with great screen presence. Enjoyable watch.
Oh, it's so over. It's only early January, and I've already seen the best drama I'll watch this year. To The Wonder was not only objectively brilliant, but it also deeply resonated with me. It reminded me of my dear grandma who no longer walks this world and of the beautiful mountains of everlasting green she used to speak of. This one will stay with me for a long, long time.
I honestly really, really liked it! I went into this one without knowing much about the actual plot — just that it was a big-budget production set in space with a great team behind it and a stacked cast. I started watching without even knowing who was the astronaut and who was the doctor between Lee Min-ho and Gong Hyo-jin lol But honestly, I’m glad I went in blind, because what awaited me was a pleasant surprise.
I like the set up to their relationship; there are no big moments or slow-motion looks of love at first sight and I think it suits the characters. Hoping for a slow(er) burn. I'm also curious to learn more about Eve (she's so cool and so gorgeous!) in the upcoming episodes. The space scenes are really interesting, and you can certainly see where all the budget went. Funnier than I expected and has a weirdness to it, but in a good way. It feels... fresh, I think is the right word? And also familiar, but that's maybe because I've been watching dramas for a while and LMH and GHJ have been huge stars since what feels like forever.
Of course, it's only the first episode, and a lot can change, but I'll be sticking around. Between this one and Love Scout it's a good January for K-drama viewers. (This ended up being way longer than I planned...)
It's sooo satisfying how organized Eun-ho is. Color-coding, files, calendars in both his home and the office... it makes me feel so relaxed 😌 And it just hits different when you compare it to those overly manufactured TikTok videos (I know, I know, the irony since this is a work of fiction).
Dozens of exciting dramas have been announced and released since The Prisoner of Beauty finished filming and it's STILL my most awaited unreleased drama... *sighs* Why does it have to look so perfect?!
Really enjoyed the first episode! Very promising. I love that the ML is a single father. It made me want to rewatch one of my favorite underrated gems starring Lee Joon-hyuk, “A Poem a Day”.
Han Ji-min is great as usual, as is the whole cast~
Really enjoyable show with an innovative premise, a production team that clearly cared about it and an amazing, amazing cast. The plot progression had its murky moments but I enjoyed it a lot nonetheless. I know a number of women that don't usually watch K-dramas but caught this one by chance on Netflix and really liked it too!
This is a very good and well-crafted drama with great acting and chemistry from the main couple (you really get the sense the actors understood the assignment imo). Really, really liked it.
