This drama was certainly entertaining. When it got to episode 11, I thought, well, now what... and then they introduced Oh Yu-ra. Heavens, did I hate that woman! Of course, Jung Soo-min and Park Min-hwan were the main antagonists in our heroine's story, but for some reason, Oh Yu-ra was the one who would have my blood boiling whenever she appeared, all mighty and arrogant, ordering her secretary around. Ma'am, just go shopping or something!!! š¤ Maybe it all comes down to acting, as BoA is a fantastic artist but a green actress, while Soo-min and Min-hwan's actors were outstanding.
So, yeah, it was quite the rollercoaster: a great beginning, some weird episodes sprinkled in the middle, and a very satisfying ending :)
I'm finally watching Snowdrop! As someone whoās been a Blackpink fan since middle school and has always liked Jisoo the most, I'm super late š But that's life, and these are some of my thoughts:
This drama has top-notch production (the outfits and set designs are beautiful). It also does an amazing job of creating the "atmosphere" of the show, which is evident even from the opening credits. The acting is also good, including Jisoo's. The difference in acting caliber obviously stands out when you compare her performance to that of her more seasoned castmates (like Yoon Se-ah, who is doing an amazing job), but she's doing fine, and the character suits her.
The pacing is a bit off, but that might be because the episodes are really long. Iām watching it at the pace of about half an episode a day.
This is my opinion of the drama as a DRAMA so far. I wonāt get into the historical context behind it, but I do think anyone who watches Snowdrop should take the time to learn why it was accused of historical negationism. I get that a lot of people watch the drama for the "drama itself" but it's important to understand the actual events it touches on, so you donāt end up treating fiction as reality. Look into the June Struggle and watch the movie 1987: When the Day Comes.
I'm only halfway through episode 3, so let's see if I will stuck with it.
The best thing about this drama is the cast. Everyone is great, especially Kim Shin-rok as Park Jung-ja and Moon Geun-young as Ji-won/Miss Sunshine. Having said that...

And I'm not even talking about the whole oh-so-the-decrees-are-actually-meaningless thing but the overall execution. I actually like how it doesn't even try to satisfy us viewers with some proper answers. It's bleak, and you can't understand the reason behind it, but that's how life is sometimes. Frustrating the public like that is, in at least 9 out of 10 cases, an unforgivable television sin, but I accept it for what it is in a show like this one.
I canāt help but wonder how many ZLS and YSX fans would actually enjoy the other actressā show if they gave it a chance. Itās surprising how you can enjoy more than one thing at a time š¤
As soon as I read the title of this article, I knew it would be a wild comment section š Why canāt people just be happy theyāre both doing well? TSOP and LGIEF are not even in the same genreāonly thing they have in common is that theyāre both idol dramas (and the historical gear, I guess). As always, neutral viewers are winning for being able to watch the shows without worrying about stats or whatnot š
And I gotta say that itās crazy how some fans get waaaay too comfortable putting down other actresses just to hype up their idol. Such arrogance and feigned superiorityā¦ not a good look. Like, just be happy for them. Multiple people can be successful at the same time, and thatās GOOD. I wish these two would post a selfie together or something to calm yāall down.
Full disclosure: I sat down with the intention of watching one or maybe two episodes, but I ended up binge-watching the whole thing š«£ And Iām in love. No wonder there's so much hype over at Weibo. Itās a refreshing drama, with high-quality production and a perfect mix of funny and emotionally powerful moments. Also, a 10/10 lead couple, if I might add. And the favorability meter? I actually love that we started at -200% š¤£ Slowly but surely...
