This whole story was a total mess...I witnessed a dumb ml, an intelligent fl,that unfilial scum yang, unnecessary…
then you obviously have not grasped the main point of the story - which is growth, values, and how there will always be grey areas in morals. one always has the option to choose their path to take, and this show really exemplifies that by contrasting our ML against the SML. i think Jin Yong did an excellent job in writing this series and its characters.
for those interested in the webtoon, this drama is the prequel to the main story - covering chapter 26 to 37, but the drama adds more characters and plot elements to it
loving this so far! the leads chemistry save the show for me - the plot isn’t that bad per se, it keeps me hooked but some performances are lacking and the CGI isn’t the best.

just binged this and i regret putting it off for 4 years on my watchlist 😭😭 cried buckets at the end and throughout actually…. it’s so good i don’t want it to end 😭😭😭😭😭
10/10!! cried in the last episode, i love the friendship between all the characters so much! songsak stole the show for sure, and Kim Nam Gil is sooooo hot even as a priest 😭
The reviews for this drama are awful and doesn’t do this drama any justice. Through the darkness isn’t the…
totally agreed! the focus isn’t on catching the criniminal or whodunnit, but really understanding the criminals’ motivations and how their actions have impacted the victims and their families, which is a refreshing take on the genre
this is my no. 1 kdrama ever — it’s my 5th rewatch this year and i’ve realised so many nuances i failed to catch or understand when i watched it earlier. the actors were amazing, the writing and interaction between characters was incredible and the music sealed the deal.
i never bawled so much as i did in 2 specific scenes:
1. when Department Head Kim resigned and he was shaking everyone’s hand, and Sang Sik’s memories with him came flooding back as he bowed 90 degrees to his back walking away…. He was a really good boss who cared for his subordinates and could see the bigger picture. people like him are really rare in the workplace and he is one of my favorite characters in the show!
2. when Geu Rae couldn’t extend his contract and was reminiscing all his moments in One International. that montage is really something else!
Do i need to watch the prequel stuff (the lost tomb 1& 2) before I watch this?
technically you don’t need to, but if you want to fully immerse in the storyline and characters it is recommended to! i personally watched in chronological order and watched the lost tomb 1 and 2 before this, which helped provide some context
