Too many coincidences imo.

I agree. Shengyi has extreme self-worth issues, she loathes herself and her returning to her abusive ex is a twisted way of punishing herself. It's a vicious cycle. People like her believe they deserve the abuse they receive. The drama handled this storyline very skillfully imo.

Spoiler this. It was very obvious from the beginning. The colour of his robes were unique and the first time they showed him he was hiding his face with a fan and was sitting higher than the ML. The ML also is known to be his closest confidant, so all signs were there.

Today's episode (21) was frustrating but it'll feel even more sweeter when Mudan climbs back high. I'm telling you guys not to skip it, there are also some tender moments between the leads and Mudan finds new allies however low she's been dragged. And it's just one episode, are people really that sensitive to one episode of unhappiness after so many relatively happy ones? I remember the soap operas from my childhood dragging misunderstandings for 50 episodes and more lol.

Yeah I think she'll cause suffering for all of them. It's frustrating seeing the characters you root for making such obvious mistakes and not being able to reach out through the screen and shake them.

Hopefully they'll grow and mature alongside Mudan. Don't forget that Sheng Yi is terribly traumatised and abused since childhood (her family literally sells her), and with a predatory ex like that she would fall for his gaslighting sooner or later. It's an unfortunate reality a lot of domestic abuse survivors go through. Sheng yi has been following Mudan like a newborn calf till now, she hasn't fully grown a backbone on her own yet. She managed to break the cycle and saved them both at the beginning, so let's not write her character off hastily.

I agree with your other point, but I think he was still not aware of any feelings until that moment they had by the pit grill when he touched her lip. If he was aware he wouldn't be that touchy feely with her in the previous epside when they were struggling with the hanging notes imo

After episode 11, I can declare that I'm officially hooked to this series. The womance between the ladies is my main joy right now, the romance can wait hehe

Do not expect a full on romance drama if you intend to watch this; it's more about the story and importance of history chroniclers and how important the preservation of the historical records for future generations is. The romance is merely a fluffy padding for the much more serious storylines, though it is enjoyable too.

I'm so glad I stuck with this drama, it's getting sweeter and cozier by each episode. It's not particularly well written but somehow still works for me. How did Seok JW's old man bagged a wonderful lady like that though, the mother is wonderful! No wonder SJW turned out the way he did. I love that she admitted to it too haha. That was a meta moment.
