I'm based in the United States. I started watching Asian drama in November 2019, just around the time when COVID19 started to hit the press. Eventually, the pandemic changed the way I watch movies and TV series. 

The first Asian drama I watched was Crash Landing On You... and the rest became history as I completed around 300 Asian drama series during the pandemic period in 2020 and 2021. 

My opinions of the Asian drama series that I've watched may differ from yours, and I'm sharing my thoughts from the perspective of a GenX male viewer based in the US who used to watch US movies, TV series and reality shows as his favorite pastime.
