I'm not actually a fan of the King of Goryeo at this point because he is still naive. His intensions are good but his execution is wonky. His adviser is right though. He should concentrate on defending Goryeo from another invasion first. Kang Kam-ch'an is actually one of my favorite characters and he gives good advice. He almost died from being tortured by the enemy just so he can defend his country. I think the King should AT LEAST acknowledge his achievements. Also, he told the King to flee when the Khitan army were approaching the palace and if the King didn't listen to him he would have been beheaded and it would have been a victory for the Khitans. Furthermore, Kang Kam-ch'an is a very competent advisor and government official. In history he is also a military commander and he will lead Goryeo to victory when the Khitans come back to invade. He volunteered to be the acting deputy War minister for the duration of the war, at the age of 71. That's pretty impressive. He led about 208,000 men toward the Goryeo-Liao border. Because he is a main character in the drama, and won a Daesang for his role, I look forward to more of his scenes especially when he returns to the capital from the second/third battle with the Khitans and he will be welcomed as the military hero who saved the kingdom. After the war, Kang would retire from both the military and the government to rest, since he was too old, already having become a national hero. He was appointed as Supreme Chancellor in 1030, one year before his death. Kang is regarded as one of the greatest military commanders in Korean history and I can't wait when they put this on the drama.

It doesn't compare to LOTR movies of course since that one is a masterpiece. Not even the TV series Rings of Power can compare to the trilogy. Arthdal Chronicles is an OK watch. Don't take it too seriously is my advice so you don't get disappointed.
