I don't think so. It got to the point where they were both manipulated which was a big reason for the separation (and their own insecurities). They both are still completely in love with each other.. it was at the point "Do I hold on to this anger or move on together". It's only 6 episodes... unless you want them to only resolve in the very last episode. I'd rather they decide to fight together and we get to see them as a couple again then to see them drag out the anger and hatred.

I'm actually pretty intrigued by him and his story. I don't hate him or really find him annoying. I'm glad the "villain" isn't just some one dimensional character solely created to separate the main couple. It feels like they are taking that trope and will maybe surprise us with how it turns out. I do have to say the step sibling thing is a huge trope in straight stuff too. I do think they should have cast a teenager instead of using the same actor since the step brother thing is already iffy with some people... I didnt find the scene sexual or romantic but I do think if they used a teenager the age gap wouldn't have look so massive.
