Is Bai Lu really not interested in xianxia dramas now?Let’s clarify the situation based on what’s publicly…
I can't lie, I love her costume dramas (xianxia and historical), but I hope she gets to explore more different roles to really showcase her outstanding acting. She was so good in AMA and Northward, I feel like she has incredible potential for a huge variety of roles. She's stunning in costume dramas, but she plays a surprisingly convincing tomboy/gender flip which is quite rare.
Idk, but in the 0620 bonus episode of Wonderland 5, they showed an old cut of ZZH. Not sure if this means anything, but the fact that they included the clip in the series of old clips (when they could have just skipped that clip entirely) means there's probably at least a chance he could comeback. They also talked about him (reaction) in the clip, which I don't think they would do if he was completely blacklisted.
Hmm... I’m on episode 3 and I’m having a hard time getting into it 😅 I was expecting more grounded, realistic…
It's more of an artsy indie movie style (think A24 lol). I wouldn't really call it a slice-of-life modern drama in the typical sense. It's kinda like slam poetry vs novel writing.
I often visit chen feiyu's weibo account to see his updates and I have noticed something that his agency is the…
It's because of the little scandal he had. Even though his name got cleared, his agency is probably keeping him lowkey for a while just to be safe. They probably want a sudden, smash hit comeback to fully bury the topic. Promotion stirs up talk, and if there's no major release, then people are just gonna talk about the most recent thing (the scandal).
Hi! I wanted to ask about the diminutive forms of Chinese names. Is there any difference between using "Xiao"…
The rule for Xiao and A is usually just what sounds better, but Xiao isn't typically used for older guys. Also A is typically more of a Southern nickname and used for single word names. Like you probably wouldn't hear anyone add Xiao in front of a 40yr old man's name, but someone really close to him might call him A something. It wouldn't be weird to call Zhang ChengLing "Xiao Zhang", but you wouldn't use "A ChengLing" or "A Ling". Notice how "A Xu" is used with Zhou Xu, not Zhou ZiShu. If Lao Wen called him "Xiao Zhou", that would be very wifey vibes (not wrong, but very different effect lol). Cao WeiNing's teacher could call him "Xiao Ning", but ChengLing can't call him that.
Lao is more of a familiarity thing, not because the person is old. I'd say Lao is usually used for guys, and usually they're at least 14-15. You wouldn't call a 6yr old Lao something, but high school buddies might call their friend Lao + last name. If a younger person is known as Lao _ by a lot of people, they usually have like a certain vibe to them idk how to explain it but think Lao Qin (Qin XiaoXian). You would almost never call a young girl Lao _.
Er is typically more masculine, and doubling is typically more feminine. Heavy emphasis on typically. All of this depends, like in my opinion, "A Xiang" and "Xiang Er", for Gu Xiang make sense, but "Xiao Xiang" and "Xiang Xiang" sound weird to me, probably because she has a more "boyish" free spirited personality.
In general, there isn't really a hard rule for nicknames, except don't call someone above you (in generation/respect level) by a nickname, even if everyone else (at their level) does. Like Wen KeXing could call Zhou ZiShu/ Zhou Xu by any of the following: "A Xu", "Lao Zhou", "ZiShu", "XuXu" (this would be very BL), "Xiao Xu" (also very 0 hehe), etc., but if ChengLing, A Xiang, or Cao WeiNing used these, it would be very disrespectful.
Also, all of these guidelines are for name based nicknames. There are a lot of other possible nicknames with typical practices too, but that might be overwhelming for you. Just for fun though, some nicknames unrelated to given name: "Xiao Pang" (Little Chubby), "A Guai"/"Guai Guai" (Guai means obedient, describing a kid), "Da Xi" (Jin Chen's nickname), "Di Di" (little bro, Ding ChengXin's nickname on Hi6), "Dui Zhang" (Team Leader, usually someone who likes to organize get togethers or like a literal team leader), "Da Jv" (Big Orange, a fat orange cat), "Shen Xian Jie Jie" (Goddess Older Sister, Liu YiFei's nickname), etc. As a bonus, "Xiao Er" (Little Two) is a nickname for a second child of 3+ kids; "Xiao San" (Little Three) means mistress, NOT a nickname for a third child (can use "Lao San" instead); "Xiao Si" (Little Four) is director Guo JingMing's nickname.
