I binged the show quickly so it seemed more cohesive to me . But it was still so confusing to think they're enemies, to finding out they're kinda friends, to finding out he has a crush, to him having been her first love, to them having both liked each other since they first met. I do'nt see the point of revealing that so slowly and in such a jarring way. It was like we watched 6 different versions of the same couple over the course of the first half of the drama. Once they got together they were suddenly different people and super cutesy and in love when they'd both shown very strong avoidant tendencies which was also weird. The nonlinear narrative was too ambitious.
Also, the storylines that resonated most were his mother and the friend, so I dont' know why they needed all those weird stalker/revenge plotlines either.
I also agree that the writing at times seemed quite good within scenes, but struggles with the overall development and flow of the drama.
I did think both the lead's comedic timing was fantasitc, and the best part of show for me (along with the comedic timing of the other actors in support roles). I disagree with you that they didn't have romantic chemistry. I thought they were cute as a couple and at least it was consistently immature from the beginning lol.
Despite agreeing with a lot of what you said, I definitely liked the drama overall better than you, I was able to enjoy the comedy and romance and just kinda enjoy the ride, found it a really funny and fun light watch.
Good review, you hit a lot of the major points well. I haven't watched a drama like this in a while and it hit all those sweet spots for your typical guilty pleasure drama.
I agree on KYD. He's an odd one, cause he has charm and great screen presence and does the swoony and other intense scenes well, and his comedic timing is gold, but he seems to really struggle when more subtle emotions are required and overacts in a silly way. I felt the same with him in Forbidden Marriage, he was lacking the emotional gravitas needed to pull off some of the more challenging scenes in that show (It was a difficult role playing a traumatized king, and it was way above his capabilities). I quite like him even so, and do think he has that IT factor, so I hope to see him improve in those areas.
I felt the opposite about the 2nd couple! I wanted to FF through their scenes cause they were boring to me and I didn't feel much chemistry apart from colleagues, it kinda felt like brother and sister dating, and I found the girl kinda annoying by the end--she didn't have much depth as a character. I found the main couple 10X more interesting and their chemistry was FIRE.
I loved this from start to finish! This is not a perfect drama by any means and the plot was all over the place, but it was funny, sometimes laugh out loud funny, and fun and romantic. The leads have great chemistry but also fantastic comedic timing. They play off eachother amazingly well and they both have this quirky, charming way about them that is delightful. I binged it in 3 days and quite enjoyed myself
I was intrigued when I saw the description but then seeing Namkoong Min as the lead I am so excited--he will KILL in this role. No one does playful but intense like him.
Gong Hyo Jin is a goddess and I would watch her read the newspaper, she absolutely oozes charisma and appeal and her acting is superb. I have seen her paired with men older and younger and she has amazing chemistry every time. LMH is hit or miss for me, but when he hits, he HITS and can have fantastic screen presence. I can see him having excellent chemistry with GHJ. I feel like this is gonna be the -IT- drama of the year.
I've never been able to connect with Ahn Hyo Seop, I've tried watching so many of his dramas but I just do not feel his characters, something always falls flat for me and I end up dropping the drama. So I'mma give this one ep and if he's still lacking I will go watch the OG lol.
First 8 episodes were great, this needed to be at most a 12 episode series.
They should have stayed with the case a week format till the last two episodes and then taken down Yoo. The entire sister plot was a huge mistake as it took us too far away from the mail revenge plot, and because it didn’t fit the show it made every character act out of character. I love WDH but he couldn’t carry that level of emotional scenes and so nothing hit. He over-acted so bad, it was just him screaming and sobbing for like 4 episodes straight. They should have kept the show where he shines which is the cocky, playful, sharp attorney (he has brilliant comedic timing and so much charisma).
Disappointed in the writer—they also wrote Queen for Seven Days which remains one of the best written k dramas ever. First half was 10/10 no question, second half was 5/10.
If there is no romance in this drama, I think it would be a great one..In this sometimes romance sucks and sometimes…
I feel like there was great chemistry in the beginning when they were bickering and at odds and plying around as commoners but then once her identity was revealed she completely shut down emotionally, and didn’t even care about being with him anymore, she just cared about being a martyr for his revenge. It was such an odd place to take her character and took all the passion and chemistry out of the romance.
I didn't like the head nurse part , so I rate it 8/10
I agree that was a really weak plot point, but wasn't really the point of the show. Everything else in the story was so well done I'd still give it a 10/10.
Woo Do Hwan and Jung Eun Chae are carrying this drama. I love watching them every week. Looking forward to watching…
This is hilariously spot on.
But I'd add that Kim Kyung Nam is also carrying this drama. He's the only character that I really feel connected to and am rooting for. That final scene last scene between him and Yeong was so good I was like "Oh this is what it's like when two great actors are in a scene together"
So I just found out Woo Do Hwan will be playing a bubbly busan sweetie as his other dual role. I thought I was excited before! I've never seen him do happy and energetic, I cannot wait to see him play such a different character.
I wanna know so much more about the character Woo Doo Hwan will portray because on paper it seems really standard (stoic guard). He usually picks interesting/layered characters so I can't imagine he'd take this unless there was something more to it. A comment from the production company has me intrigued though, they say WDH has "unique facial features that can show both good and evil"--so I'm hoping either his characters have different sides, or his characters in the two worlds are vastly different. Either way cannot wait to see him!
I’m really excited to see kyung nam .. He is such a good actor I hope he becomes more popular after this drama
Oh my gosh, I love him! He's so underrated. Everyone is going on about LMH and WDH but I am also so excited to see him. Judging by the writer and cast, this should be a bit hit, and I hope so so much he gets lead roles after this.
Do the characters have any sort of growth arc? Everyone says they are good characters but I hate stories where they stay the same and don't really evolve.
Also, the storylines that resonated most were his mother and the friend, so I dont' know why they needed all those weird stalker/revenge plotlines either.

Thanks for the detailed review!
IDK why but I can already just feel the chemistry between these two, it's gonna be HOT.
