Thank you for the suggestion ! I admit I'm a bit intimidated by the number of episodes but it's true that the story seems very promising ! Does it have a happy ending ? :)

I also think that the actors did their best with what they were given. But even if I like the main actress in her other works here I couldn't really connect with her character, apart from her interest in painting. She was the most interesting when she was interacting with her friends and well it wasn't enough for me to continue watching this. The male lead was even worse to connect with, even if he seemed like the perfect male lead at first : charming, capable, mysterious... But it all fell really flat in the end. I think the writers put too much trust in their encounter in the past. I know it's a common trope used in many drama but it's not enough for me to believe that they are really in love after growing up. I couldn't even understand why the male lead seemed to reject her at first because of his "revenge" only for him to give it up and pursue her in the next second. And I agree with you that the characters and their actions were lukewarm, even the "villains". The only character I thought could bring something at first was the second male lead but even he became quickly annoying. I stopped at ep 11 so I can't say anything for the last episodes but I agree that the portrait thing wasn't enough for the drama to be 16 episodes long. The idea was interesting but sadly it wasn't delivered well... Maybe they shouldn't have shown us the sealing in the first ep to make it more surprising for us and begin instead with them being already grown up... I don't really know to be honest but it's sad to think that such a promising story was so clumsily treated.

Even the romance can't keep me entertained (and I'm a sucker for romance so it says a lot) I don't think it's the actors' fault, I just don't feel any real chemistry or love between them... Again it was so promising at first with the tearsers, poster etc but now I don't even feel the need to see them together at the end, it clearly lacks something I just don't know what...
I just finished ep 11 and I feel like the best thing about this drama is the trio with the female lead and her 2 friends... I was more invested in the 2 ep with the painting contest than the rest... It's sad because the story was promising but I don't feel anything now. Any main character could die at any moment and I still wouldn't shed a tear :/ And the concept of mixing together fantasy and historical setting was so interesting but it sadly failed to deliver... I don't think I will continue watching this
This was the most helpful post on here. I was trying to decide if I should still give this one a go. The answer…
I'm glad my "review" could help you in making a decision ! It's true that I can't really recommend this show to anyone who expects a well-developped and fulfilling romance drama. The storyline went downhill at the second half of the show and it was just stressful to watch at the end (even knowing beforehand what awaited me). The actors were great though so it's a shame.
Well I was hesitant to watch this at first because of the rating and comments here but I really liked it in the end ! It's not the first time that I end up liking shows with "bad rating" on MDL so I'm not really surprised ^^'
I'm a sucker for the reincarnation trope so it hit me right in the feels ! The amount of longing and angst was perfect and it had many funny moments too (especially the female lead's parents they were awesome ! I really liked her friends and coworkers too) I didn't have any second lead syndrome so it was a bonus point, even if he was quite funny and interesting as a character I couldn't help but root for the main lead. It's true that at first the main lead seems cold and stone-faced at first but his character development soon shows that he's in fact quite funny and gentle.
Sadly I was a little more perplexed with the female lead. I don't know if it was due to the actress or the character (it felt like her character here was a copy and paste from her role in Lucky romance) but I had some trouble understanding her, especially in the last episodes. I mean I could totally understand her perplexity and anger when coming face to face with a man she dosen't know (at least in this present life) who made her fired from her last job, because he apparently had feellings for her and wanted to be close to her (I can honestly say that if it happened in real life to me I would have been freaked out too) so I can understand the slow building of their relationship. I loved it even because I'm a sucker for longing, especially when it comes from the male lead xD BUT why make the 2 last episodes entirely focus on the "marriage VS not marriage" talk ? Maybe the writers didn't have anymore ideas to fill up the last episodes but at least make it make sense ! I coud understand her if she thought that getting married will lead to tragedy again (like some sort of superstition) and I honestly think marriage is essentially just paperwork nowadays : you can totally live with someone without getting married, have children if that's what you want and be happy like that. But then why make them exhange couple rings and have them organize a ceremony in front of their family and friends ? With the flowers, the clothes, the promise, the kiss ? I don't know I felt like it was in disagreement with the whole "marriage isn't necessary to be happy" talk, that's why the last 2 episodes lost me a little. I also thought that the actress was a little too stiff in kissing scenes but it's a recurrent problem in dramaland it seems.
Moreover I would have liked it better if we had an insight in the male lead's family. We met his mother at the beginning of the drama then she disappears entirely. We learn that he has 2 older brothers at the end, but that's it, the show doesn't offer more info on them. It was a little disappointing to not show the 2 families encounter each other, I think it would have been better to dedicate maybe episode 15 or 16 at this but that's just my personal preference and it dosen't mean that I didn't enjoy watching this drama ^^
I also liked the fact that the female lead works as a webtoons' producer, it was a little different and I liked all the glimpses at the authors working (especially the young female author who works on 18+ webtoons she was hilarious haha) and the OST was pretty great too !
Having read the webtoon first, I was curious at how they would handle all the drama with Su Ho moving away in the States and Joo Gyung/Seo Jun relationship in only 16 episodes. I think they handled it pretty well even though it dosen't follow the original story. It's maybe for the better considering that Su Ho continues to talk to her when in the US, at least at the beginning before the break up (I still think his reason for breaking up in the drama is pretty weak but it was inevitable).
I saw a few comments here saying that Joo Gyung is weak and cowardly for far too long. Well, I can't say she isn't but considering her past and trauma, I don't see this as a real problem. The journey to love oneself is long and tortuous so how can could we have such a character overcome her trauma and insecurities in just a few episodes ? Even she admits that she is cowardly and tries to do better. I could totally relate to her and I was overall happy with her character development. The one thing I was disappointed in was the horrible reaction of her class after discovering her "real face" and her being bullied at her old school. Even Joo Gyung's so called bestfriend flee the scene and later tries to guilt trip her into thinking that she was the one in the wrong for not telling her friends everything about her past. I don't think a friendship like that is worth having honestly, especially after having Soo Jin betray her first in such a cruel way. At the very least you can try to reach out when you see that your bestfriend is absent from school the next days but no she doesn't even do that (we can only say thank you to Su Ho and Seo Jun for showing a little humanity *irony*).
Concerning the love triangle, I can't say that I'm not happy with this ending but my heart was torn between the 2 male leads during the whole show ^^' why can't they shoot an alternative ending/special episode in which Seo Jun gets the girl ?? I admit that if the roles were reversed and it was actually Seo Jun from the start, I would have been sad for Su Ho so yeah it was a difficult choice... It just proves that the actors did an amazing job in playing their characters!! The casting was indeed top notch. And the OST was amazing too!
I have mixed feelings about this show... I'm at episode 5 and the relationship between the main lead and his girlfriend doesn't appear to end soon, I think I saw on a few comments here that it will last until the second half of the show so I'm not sure if I will continue this. It's a pity because I like the main actor, the female lead is badass and I think they have great chemistry together but it's kinda a bummer to watch her chasing after a man who already has a girlfriend and who seems to really care about her :/ do you think it's worth continuing if you already had the same problem ?
This show was really good ! I kinda expected some supernatural elements with the title and the poster's general vibes so I was a little disappointed at first but it didn't last long fortunately ^^ I loved the female lead she was badass and funny and I understood her sense of responsabilty mixed with guilt towards her twin sister, it shows that nobody is perfect when dealing with a mentally sick relative... I'm glad the male lead could relate to her and defend her in front of the metro division (I was so angry with them !!) In fact some scenes were very emotional I didn't expect that (many tears were shed haha) The male lead was adorable, he often made me tear up whenever he was with his mother and his chemistry with the female lead was great too ! The actor playing the main villain was also fantastic (I was fooled until the very last revelation lol) The only character I had a hard time with was the ex girlfriend, I could understand the pression put on her shoulders but her behavior with the female lead was just mean and unjustified. I would have liked it more if a friendship bloomed between them... Well overall it was a good show and I wasn't bored watching it, it was just a litle hard sometimes to follow their reasoning in resolving the cases but it's surely because I'm little dumb xD Also I found the ending satisfying and the OST is very pleasant too so give it a try !
I really don't know how to rate this show. I started this knowing how it ended because I love the main actor and I wanted to support his work. The characters, the relationships between all of them, the setting, the ost were in fact all great ! I fell in love with what stared as a heartwarming show but halfway through it started to lose this wholesome vibe that was promised at the beginning. I think it's the moment when Rara learns of Jun's past that it went downhill for me : first he's locked up for a month by his parents, then Rara decides to break up because she wants him to concentrate on his exam, then it's Jun who wants to break up with her because he learns that he's sick and he's not even honest with Rara ! He manages to fake a relationship with another girl to make her give up and he's not even sorry about that when she learns the truth ??! Also you have your bf suddenly breaking up with you without much of an explanation (he apparently "fell out of love" that's it), you discover that he's in a relationship with another girl then that he's gonna go abroad without a word for you and you're not even mad ?! And we don't even talk about the famous 5min "happy ending" that the writers gave us. I mean the main story in this drama is the romance no ? And you have the nerve to have the characters reunite in 5 min after the female lead thought that her bf was dead for years ?! I know it was already criticized in many comments before mine but it was so surreal that I can't help but want to vent my frustration here too... The show started with the dad's death then ended with the grandpa's and the bf's (if we don't count the last 5 min). What a wholesome show really ! I know life isn't all glitter and unicorns and all that but please... Instead of a possible death we could have Jun's dad against their relationship or a distant member of Rara's family who appears suddenly and wants to take her with them ! It's cliché yes but at least we would have the time for a proper happy ending, the main core of any romance show ! And we could have Rara fight for her happy ending with Jun because I still thought she was a little too passive concerning her relationship with him even at the end so it was kinda disappointing to see her demanding barely any explanation or show any real anger or whatnot... And maybe it's my hopelessly romantic heart that's talking but I really wanted the drama to show them married, and use the teacup set that Rara wanted to use with her future husband... Because why make her say that if it's not even showed or hinted at at the end ? It's really a shame that such great actors were involved with this mess of a ending. I will still give this a fairly high rating because of the actors and production. I'm just sad it couldn't be a new favorite of mine because of those last few episodes...
Does Mouse really have a couple in it ? It's already on my watchlist but maybe I will watch it sooner if there really is a little romance ^^ (great list by the way !)
It's really a good romance drama !! The chemistry between the leads is amazing !!! I didn't think I would like the main lead at first but he really grew on me and the actor did an extraordinary job, I'm gonna look for his other works just to see him again ^^ It's a slow burn (it's exactly what I love so some people will think it's too slow and get bored but if you also love this trope give it a chance please !) It was funny (the main lead's best friend was especially hilarious) and had many cute moments ! I didn't have any second lead syndrom (I love the actor so I was kinda scared of that but the main lead is really fantastic I rooted for him very quickly) The only negative point was the whole superstition thing that was still a bit too much in the last few episodes but we got a happy ending for everyone so I can't say I'm really unhappy with it ^^ It's sad that the rating is so low, it deserves better so give it a try !
