I got curious so I re-ran Ep 3, im laughing on the floor with JP & DS reciting the national anthem hahaha!! Anyway are u talking about why JP had to pretend his apartment was DS office for the sake of the lie? I think that’s when he unknowingly started caring for DM (he couldn’t sleep that night when granma said she might just tell DM) so in the end he didn’t want her to get disappointed. He wanted to end the encounters cleanly but without telling DM it was all a lie. He did bring it upon himself.

Oh I see wachu mean. I think to DS yes it was to save DM face at the party since he was only doing it temporarily (supposedly anyway). But I think to granma & HJP who devised the lie years ago, and didn’t expect DM to never move on from it, it was to not get caught. To forever have DM thinking DS was her penpal and leave it at that, except again they kept crossing paths after the party. If that makes sense..
