they onlyyy ever do this w female actors, and god forbid they actually Play a mildly annoying woman or a Villain (e.g., chen duling's ye bingchang). you cannot go into any comment section of anything that mentions that actress bc 99% of the comments is how much they HATED that actress for one character they played 78 years ago and they can NEVER watch her ever again and then they tack on a backhanded "oh but that just shows how talented she is" at the end and they think that makes it completely okay. genuinely have never seen ppl act this way towards a male actor.

something this drama keeps doing that is absolutely frying me is when characters “hide” behind a screen but a thick chunk of their head is peaking out over the top like in a previous ep when XYL and CZ were hiding in the cangmu stronghold armoury and you can see XYL is Clearly taller than the screen and then this recent ep with DY eavesdropping on XYF and the emperor and his Entire Headpiece is out like ??? help???

so much understanding and sympathy for XYL who is still processing the shock of the betrayal of the only person in his blood family he thought gaf about him but none for CZ who is also shocked that the one person she trusts has a hand in killing her dad (whether he knows it or not). i know what you people are

Honestly, if they were going to write Soojin as another "jealous SFL" stereotype, they should have just used webtoon!Soojin instead of rewriting her characterisation, integrating her as a prominent character, and making her become good friends with Jugyeong just to break her down and pit her against Jugyeong like that. It's frustrating and disappointing constantly seeing female friendships being broken apart for men; it just contributes to sexist writing, pitting women against each other, and making them solely men-serving. I'm saddened that from this point onwards, Soojin will garner a lot of dislike and scorn for her actions against Jugyeong even though she's been scapegoated as a character. I still like Soojin and just want her to talk to Jugyeong properly so they can work around their issues and remain good friends D:

!! I agree with this!! I'm exhausted of the trend in dramas wherein SFLs in love-squares-whatever are being written as manipulative and passive-aggressive toxic women, doing borderline awful things to the FL because she...wants the ML. I'd hate to jump the gun but that screams women-hating to me. Seojoon likes Jugyeong too but he's not shown to adopt that kind of attitude at all, especially since it wouldn't be unjustified seeing as he's not on great terms with Sooho at the moment and he's also seeing how stressed Jugyeong has been about her relationship with Sooho (but he won't, because he's a good person—why can't Soojin be a good person too? They diverged from the webtoon for her character, why must they flesh her out just to degenerate her?). Soojin and Jugyeong are best friends and Soojin has been so kind and considerate of Jugyeong all this time—it's so frustrating seeing writers beginning to wedge a nail into their friendship, even worse that it's for a boy. How much longer are these writers going to perpetuate girl-on-girl hate until I have to dig myself a hole and never surface the earth again? ://
