I love how this drama flipped some of those old tropes/cliches on their head: we have a stepmother who actually loves her stepsons, a 2ML who is not obsessed with either leads (he's flawed but a good guy), all the flirty scenes came after the couple married, and no evil 2FL to name a few : )

It's not the homosexual factor that was an issue. Korea has plenty of BLs. It's the fact that it would in essence be a **50 year old man** wanting to get into a sexual/romantic relationship with a **19 year old kid** who's still in high school. That inappropriate age gap is the problem, and that's why the romance was taken out.
