Fascism high

There’s a strict school with weird cultish undertones and a new student joins to disrupt the status quo

There’s mystery with a curse and why the students characters act a certain way. It has school romances, enemies to lovers/opposites attract and childhood friends to lovers which are my favourite tropes. It was fasted paced and brought plot twists all the way to the end. The acting is really good and I love when characters pretend not to be in love. I also like that there’s homophobia that the characters and their surroundings have, brings a level of realism. I’ve seen other reviews saying it was poorly executed and disappointed them but I went blindly and loved it even if I easily predicted it. But the music is sometimes so loud that I couldn’t hear the characters.

Realistic with depth

Jihyeon moves from a small village to Seoul to do his studies. He meets Jaewon, an older university student, and joins the surfing team to be closer to him.

Does it have a crazy interesting premise? No which I absolutely love it. It feels more realistic than the shows that have crazy premises. It also has tragic backstories that give depth to these characters. I like the portrayal of mental health which seems to be forgotten in most shows. The music and the cinematography is also really good like I was stunned at some points. Their chemistry is so good I felt it from the second they saw each other, the slight awkwardness makes it so real.

The show is never boring and yhe acting is incredible. Eunji and Taehyeong are DEMONS, not even villains that you can like you’ll hate them. I love Aeri, Yoonwon and the restaurant owner a lot and you’ll love them too. The other supporting characters are also pretty good and not just one dimensional characters.

I hate him!

Sangu does all the work for a project so he leaves Jaeyeong’s name off of the project. He looses his credit and as revenge decides to be annoying and work with him on a project together.

It’s a web series so it’s pretty short and there’s not much to talk about. Cinematography is really pretty with the little animations that show and I actually find this couple cute. Im glad we got full french kissing. The only reason it’s not higher is because the Jaeyeong is an asshole, annoying and cringy at the beginning. Its so icky that I was starting to feel bad for Sangu and I relate to him a lot. I love the subtle (and not so subtle) ways they both change when they’re together.

Comedy saves it from mediocrity

Rich entitled guy x normal person trope again… but this was the best one I’ve seen so far because he actually experiences ego death. I love the representation of deaf people. I hated this drama at the beginning but gradually became obsessed, especially with the second couple. It’s also over the top and made me laugh so many times. But there’s no resolution at the end, barely any chemistry between the leads and women as villians (tired).

My first GL

Oboom asks her twin sister Aioon to breakup with her other partner so she can go on her honeymoon with her new husband (she owes her a favour), she refuses but since Oboom gets into a coma she decides to do it. Her other partner turns out to be a rich blind woman.

I love the representation of blindness I feel like the actress did a very good job. This series was really try not to feel bad for everyone challenge. Like no one is a villian, I have sympathy for all of them. Unemployed main lead with bad jobs that constantly thinks they’re bad at everything and wants to be a writer… wait is she me? These characters are so complex it’s crazy.

I feel like the runtime is too long. The pacing is weird asf it’s too long and then some parts I want more of but never get.

Wish it had no minuses

Its really sweet and cute drama with one of my favourite couples ever with tropes I love like friends to lovers, falling for someone you think is straight, office romance, high school romance it has everything that I love. They’re chemistry is insane, they actually feel like friends and when they start dating I was ready to make this my favourite BL. But them it ruins everything built up in episode 10 just to extend the show with stupid ass plot points. The side couple also isn’t engaging at all, I don’t know why I have such a disconnect with them. Would’ve been a solid 10/10 if not for the mess that are episodes 10-11 but instead it’s a weak 9/10. (SADLY)

Does he know…?

(spoilers)
A designer gets a new job to work on a dating sim and sees his old best friend from high school. The twist is that he used to have a crush on him.

Whole time I was like do they remember each other? Does he know him? Does the designer know his best friend actually likes him back? The flashbacks to their high school days are so sweet I love them and I also love the office romance they have. I feel so bad for him like you confessed and kissed him abut ran away for 7 years out of embarrassment and whole time this man likes you too. Even if it’s short it works, it’s perfect.

Where’s the rest?

Nozue an overworked man and Togawa a younger subordinate end up visiting a dessert shops together filled with girls as an anti aging « treatment ».

It’s a cute drama that feels natural. The age gap between the characters doesn’t feel weird or predatory and was handled well. Nozue even if you’re old you can have interests and try new things. Togawa is a serious but sweet and also a little freak, thank god. I was taken aback by THAT line. I love the scenes of them eating « girly » food, food is also my love language.

It’s problem is that it’s short, 5 episodes is a short movie (less than 2 hours total), we don’t see them actually together. At least they kiss but I seriously sound like a broken record and that special pissed me off it was like 5 minutes.

Misunderstandings 101

Aoki has a crush on Hashimoto, he borrows her eraser and it has Ida’s name on it. Ida sees it and thinks Aoki has a crush on him.

I also really like the setting, high school, it makes everything sweeter I feel. I love misunderstandings in shows and characters lying and then it bites them in the ass. I love the bisexual representation with Aoki, I just love bisexuals. The second couple and the side characters are also a treat and we spend the perfect amount of time on them.

Why isn’t it perfect, it’s too short, this series needs a season 2 badly (never happening) because it feels like it ends abruptly. Again we don’t see them together and they don’t kiss, WHYYYY. Its not as bad as some series because the second couple also doesn’t kiss but it feels like it’s building up to one the whole show. The worst thing is that there’s so much of the manga that’s unadapted…. Also there’s implied pedophilia with a girl into an old man, nasty to me.

Amazing start, messy middle, exhausted ending

The natural disaster part is so good, it’s tense and I really love the mother son relation. The special effects are so good. But this movie is all over the place with the simulation and AI aspect is horrible and drags the movie runtime out. Halfway through I thought the movie was done and I was so shocked. It would’ve been amazing as a classic disaster movie with groundhog day elements instead of doing too much and falling flat on its face

Amazing but not queer enough

Amazing story of a man going into the body of a queen. It sounds silly but I would say this is really a political show. The longer runtimes allow so many subplots and side characters that I love. I mean a love triangle that overlaps with 2 other love triangles is so genius and complicated I had to make a chart. The twists and schemes are crazy, it’s tense and even messier than any show I’ve watched. My only issue is that it’s not queer enough, it tiptoes around queer themes by never going any further than bromances and flirting. I mean he’s a woman and he likes woman so he should be lesbian but no let’s have him with a guy but not make it gay. It would’ve been less effort to just make it gay.

Just wow

It’s tense and will leave you on the edge of your seat. Weird creatures bring people to hell but it’s so much more than this and shows us what would happen to society if this happened. Perfect cult vs government storylines with amazing characters. I just can’t stand the live streamer but that’s it. God I want to rewatch this.

GO WATCH IT!

I love how it feels like a childish romance comic book but it’s self aware. I love Dano and her comedy so much and her condition adds a layer of depth to her. So much mystery and the reveals are really really good, the show takes time with them. I love that in the next scene everything goes back to normal and characters forget things, it’s a nice premise that she’s aware. I also really love the other aware characters (not going more into it). Also goes into mature storylines like abuse (not going more into it) and of course romance. My only issue is characters becoming unaware again, that’s where the show lost me a bit in Episodes 7-10 and at the end but otherwise it was perfect.

My first and probably fav bl

Adachi is a 30 year old virgin can read minds and finds out one of his coworkers is into him, and he’s a man. It’s so interesting with the mind reading and a good romance and story. Some might find the style of comedy cringy or over exaggerated but I simply love it but it was jarring at first.

The characters are amazing with Fujisaki (my goat), Kurosawa is a freak and jealous king and Adachi my little scaredy cat, Rokkaku my hyperactive annoying in a good way son. We also have aroace representation/a coded character and I’m really glad that they exist (not telling you who for plot purposes).

There’s issues with it, the main couple doesn’t kiss and the second couple is so awful and doesn’t even need to be in the show I can’t stand them mostly because they never actually seem in love and have an age gap that makes them incompatible in my opinion.

I have a lot to say

I recommend it because it’s not just a 1 to 1 remake and is its own thing. So compared to the Japanese version these episodes are longer. The extended runtime allows them to flesh out the story and relationships (like a proper introduction to Rock and Rock and Min’s relationship), adds new characters (Dujao as their boss and comedic relief) and keeps more moments from the Manga (which is also quite different from both versions). It also drastically improves the second couple so much that I actually liked them in this version and the main couple is able to kiss in this version.

My issue is that it also strays too far and removes the elements I really liked like the aroace representation for an underbaked straight romance and less strong or more generic personalities from the characters (Pai, Karan, Achi and Rock especially). Even though I still love these characters, especially Pai. I also feel like the actor for Achi calling himself plumb as tofu while being visibly muscular is so funny.
Yes I’ve rewatched it multiple times now, I love this adaptation.
