Definitely not enough, for sure. I also look forward to Queen Woo to be a short but epic sageuk. The story, the characters and the cast, they have everything for it to be a superb dramatic sageuk.

The story is centred on Queen Woo, not King Gogukcheon, so no, he will not be the main lead character. And the cast order here is just the same as TVING announced. Prime Minister Eul Pal So died six years after King Gogukcheon and remained at his position under King Sansang so the character will have a center part in the succession battle showed in the drama.

The plot seems to focus on the battle over the succession of King Gogukcheon, has Queen Woo was at the center of it and is the main character of the story, yes, we will probably see him die.

I personally hope they will stick to the real History as much as possible. And based on the plot, it seems it will focus on the succession battle so I think, and I hope, they will avoid cheesy romance or rom/com. With this cast, and this story, there is all the potential for a great and epic sageuk. These actors are more looking for recognition as seasoned actors than just fame over romance stories, so I guess they chose this project for the dramatic potential of the script and their characters.
And I'm really looking forward to see who will be cast for Prince Go Yeon Woo/King Sansang has it will be one of the main characters, and also Prince Go Gye Su, another brother, if he appears in it.

Yes, of course. Go Nam Mu was actually a wise ruler of Goguryeo, known as King Gogukcheon posthumously. He succeeded to his father probably quite young (his birth date is unknown though), and reigned for 18 years between 179 and 197, so he is a really ancient historical figure, considered in old scriptures as having good judgment and a strong appearance.
He is known for having won a great battle against Han dynasty from China with only 5 000 soldiers against 30 000 in 184, and most importantly for being the first Korean ruler to establish a meritocratic system for selecting government officials, which lead to commoners, like Eul Pa So (that will be played by Kim Mu Yeol in the drama), to become ministers. He also had a great care for his people and established a law to help them have a low-interest loan for borrowing grains for cultivation, and the system remained for a very long time until Joseon era.
He didn't had children with Queen Woo, and seems to have died from natural cause (maybe a disease). Queen Woo then supported his young brother Go Yeon Woo (King Sansang, I'm looking forward to whom will be cast for this character) and married him after he became king, but they didn't had children neither. Then she was the queen dowager under the rule of Sansang's son, King Dongcheon, that he had with another woman, that Queen Woo tried to have murdered.
From the ancient records Queen Woo and her clan seems more like power grabbing people than meritorious and great people, so I wonder how the story will be told in the drama.
So I think we can expect a tragic yet great role for Ji Chang Wook as King Gogukcheon. ;)

We have a great tragic and political story, taking place during Goguryeo era, based on real historical figures that have never been portrayed before in a sageuk, with an amazing cast, especially Ji Chang Wook as King Go Nam Mu. This will be great, an epic sageuk, finally again. Looking very much to it next year.
P.S.: People submitted edits for sageuk should stop putting just the name of the character for the cast. It's important to indicate the title of these characters too.

That's amazing news indeed. It's the kind of role I was waiting the most for him to play again. I was already looking forward to this sageuk, but with Chang Wook playing King Go Nam Mu it sure will be a great one. ;)

I was already very interested by this one considering it seems to be finally another serious and epic sageuk, taking place during Goguryeo era, but with this cast, it is totally exciting. It will soon be the 10th anniversary of "Empress Ki", and we will have a new role of king played by Ji Chang Wook next year, what a treat!

Wow... That's a great movie. Such a powerful story. Totally depressing in a way, for sure, but at the same time, very beautiful and thoughtful, with a great message of hope and courage. It's a clever movie. Needless to mention that the cast is brilliant and these characters perfectly portrayed by all the actors.

Too bad for Kondo Shori. The start was good, even though he was paired with the disaster Yutaro (really not a good actor for romance, for me he is like a fish out of water, I really hope they stop to cast him for BL dramas), but that story became quickly boring and the drama disappointing. I was still impressed by him as an actor, looking forward to his future roles.

I really don't understand what's going on with these films, because even with the pandemic effect that stopped productions for a while, it's been a very long time now. The first and second films were also mega hits in Korea, so it doesn't make sense that it is delayed this much.

At least this sageuk don't look like a rom-com. There is hope that it will be interesting.

That's for sure, yes.

Considering the way it is filmed and the time they really have together, 8 days are too short to expect them to have real time to try to know each other a little and be able to discover who are really compatible with who. Of course it's possible to quickly have physical, emotional or intellectual attraction (or rejection), with just one date, but to expect a real relationship to come out of the show, the duration seems too short for me. Just like Chang Min and Jeong Hyun who didn't last long (if they ever really dated after it). I still enjoy watching it.

Still 8 days, so really nothing "real" to expect from this show. Too bad, I thought they would improved the concept a little bit more to make it more serious.

I love it so far. It's not just okay it's really good. Haven't read the original work so I'm not biased by that. And I look forward to more after each episode ended so that's a good sign for me. Both actors are great and the mature story is interesting too. I'm kinda bored by all the high schoolers stories. I like that through the flashbacks we already know that Kazuma and Ren have an heavy history together from the past but it is still being revealed bit by bit. And their teenagers parts are well played too. It doesn't look like the simple-minded and usual "rosy fluffy" BL.

I thought it might be original considering the story, but in the end all the characters are totally clichés, nothing original. The rich girl is mean but she have to look pitiful because she has family issue, the poor girl who keeps making mistakes being too naive, etc. A little bit disappointing.
