I didn’t realize that what I thought was a trailer was actually ep 1.
It’s about an 90 mins total
A fansubber put in blog the entire drama in 30 min chunks.
The reasoning behind the ploy basically non-existent and major plot points appear and disappear with no resolution or reasoning,
He’s probably mentally ill or has DID or something.
Pretty much every relationship she is in is toxic. Her mom (who admits selling her), him, his sister, her coworkers, her former teacher/boss (2 ML)...it’s bad when the person who bought someone (his dad) is the least toxic relationship. Cause he bought her thinking “she’s gonna be sold anyway”...

Would work as a drama but skip the movie

Not sure how a movie felt longer than most dramas.
There was no character development scratch that...no real characters.
Its nothing at all is the trailer the FL is barely on screen and has very few lines.
And things just happen for no reason.
There’s also a lot of telling but not showing...or frankly not even telling.
Spoiler...
the main couple go on one date (have met maybe 3-4 times) and the FL doesn’t even realize it’s a date...and he’s gonna profess his undying long in song at a press conference as a duet with his rival?
I think this scenario would work as a drama but as a movie it doesn’t work at all.

got cancelled midway thru - story ends on a cliffhanger

I found it hilarious. even when i watched it unsubbed. and it is funny childish but funny.
the vampire prince was funny. His "ugly" servants were for mostpart funny or cute. the girl group had some really good characters. Mikkudil was my favorite character...or maybe Tokki
the annoying idol - they could have done without him.
the problem is...they stopped it mid-season. and they introduced a major issue the last week. the last scene was a what's happening...gotta find out what happens next scene...and that's the show
If you stop around ep 70 you'll get a lot of chuckles out of it. But I wouldn't go past that.

Loved it until last 2 episodes - ruined it - save your heart and stop before

it's been awhile so I can't go into too many details. But I remember the total devastation. And I watched it as it was airing. ...so it's been 8 years or so and I still remember it.
It was probably the biggest disappointment of my drama watching life
The problem was I loved the drama so much. It was so adorable and cute. And the cast was great. And then whammo...last two episode
i might rewatch again...but I'd stop before the last 2 episodes.
the ML and FL are super super cute.
his brother who thinks he a child....super super cute..especially when the scene where he's trying to be "grown up"
the cast is really cute and most of the episodes made me feel all squishy
until the last 2 episodes. "last line of the penultimate episode....won't say here...but seriously show?

High schooler + adult = weird but oddly not that icky

Short and weird.
A high schooler (freshman!) pretends to be her older sister at a arranged marriage meeting with the grandson of her dad’s boss’s boss. (Maybe more bosses)
he insults her she retaliated and he does the “no one ever treated me that way before” trope.
She apparently can’t call it off unless she says she loves him (like I said weird).
they end up being “friends” (no benefits but she does kiss him once) and there’s obvious feelings,
His grandad makes him poor (apparently granddad was supposed to think she was her sister)…she cooks dinner for him and studies in his apartment. and her parents are fine with it.
The secret of their relationship gets out caused by the villain & they both decide to sacrifice them selves for the other as well as canceling the agreement
But granddad basics said ya’ll make a good couple what happens next is up to you. And then says things will get interesting (he’s gonna go after the villain) and does several “is he quite sane” laughs.
They basically have bother confess they love each other but go back to teasing each other.
Normally with this type of age gap drama there’s a time skip until the young person is at least legal or out of HS. Not here.
It’s very weird especially the part about her parents being ok with her being alone with him at his apartment. It’s obvious that the society wouldn’t support such a relationship (she dreams he gets arrested for their relationship) but it persists.
It’s very weird but it’s not as icky as you might think cause he doesn’t show her much affection beyond older brother teasing. (She instigates the only kiss)
Would I recommend this to anyone? Absolutely not.
Would I rewatch again. Again nope.

No redeeming characteristic

First. He’s physically, verbally and emotionally abusive. But he’s also dumb as a box of rocks,
He can’t figure out that the love of his life (who he held captive) was switched when she gives him food he’s allergic too & doesn’t know anything that went on while she was held captive...by him. Like her trying to force him to walk
His assistant enables the abuse so he doesn’t get a pass.
I’ll Give her Stockholm syndrome as an excuse for falling for him (and not cause he bought her a few expensive dresses and hired Her a stylist). But if she loved him, why would you let him stay with an obvious nutcase who has already attempted two murders and then kidnapped her.
Why doesn’t she go to him and say “I’m the woman you love...ask her where she slept the first night” (answer: locked in a storage room cause she slapped him for being handsy)
Her stepmother sold her stole her salary and credit cards and then held her captive and tried to choke her on bread while force feeding her.
And her stepsister is insane. Thinking she could replace her cause her voice is same, People other than assistant saw her so anyone could say who is this woman where is your old servant/maid/companion/whoever she is. And the stylist would say why are you wearing her clothes?
It’s also confusing cause she wears the same clothes so it’s like everything happens in one day

6 part commercial followed by a music video

I think it meant to convey the idea that everyone is beautiful.
Instead if conveyed the idea that you’re only beautiful if you look a certain way.
That way requires expensive high heels, a face full of Expensive makeup, expensive clothing & jewelry and straightening natural curls and give up your sight because heaven forbid someone wears glasses
The actress was good and if you like idols you’ll like it
But seriously if you Write a conversation about how humans judge everyone by the same standard of beauty and they shouldn’t ...then you proceed to say...but you don’t try to meet that standard and then have the main character change be I’m gonna meet those standards cause I deserve it...and I can’t be pretty if I can see. You’re not a good writer...even for writing commercials.
(and yes I do have curly hair and wear glasses...actually the before kinda looks like a younger version of me so while that does influence my review it’s also bad writing to endorse what you said was bad)

Compares to the original - watch it

I highly recommend this drama!
I was Leary cause I thought there would be filler and I don’t do a lot of eps - I prefer 16-20. But it goes so quickly and any additional stuff usually works (with one exception).
I also don’t tend to care for Chinese drama - I prefer Korean dramas. But it’s soooo good I’ll be looking for similar ones.
The supporting cast is probably better than the original..
And the ML is awesome he really seems like different people.
I like the FL as well but she isn’t as funny as original.
Those of you who like the teen girl personality...she gets to extend her mayhem.
There are of course differences from the original but some scenes are almost photocopied...so maybe not watch it too soon after watching the original (I’m rewatching the original so it’s obvious to me)

i wish it were around when I was a teen

I loved this so much. Especially the music and the "my Song" scene. I cried so much...because she was me when I was a teen. (at least the outsider part)
and when he sings "you who wish for my despair" and what follows....devastating simply devastating
I didn't care for the imagination scenes at the beginning...but they grew on me.
I'm trying to be honest and not let my love of this show affect my rating. but I love it so much. it's hard to judge on artistic merit when your heart says...
i loved most of the music - except ironically the idol parts.
the characters and how they grow. and interact...well except the baddies and the teachers.

More propaganda than romance

it reminds me of the old 80s kids show with a lesson everyday,
It starts pretty small (buying scalped tickets is bad) then it progresses until by ep 10 I felt like it was paid for by the Chinese government.
and so far it’s mostly about the competition not about the romance/OTP.
I watch dramas because I want to see the couple.
And English lines like “beautiful downtown Norway” didn’t help
All that being said.
If you like stories with a heavy emphasis on friendship, you’ll probably like this.
Of if you like stuff about computers/ gaming/cyber security.
