yes - in the novel she did say the things in ep12 to convince qingyu not to leave together with Ming Sheng - but she also becomes qingyu's biggest supporter and her only confidant until the end of the year 2 of school. Year 3 she goes to uni and has less of an involvement in story but she matures up and literally pass the baton to qingyu - accepting ming sheng and her can only be close friends / near siblings. Just that qingyu was too dense to realise it at that point.

her impact cannot be understated - though it remains to be seen whether the drama adapts the aftermath of the current arc literally - drama already changed qingyu's talent to be dancing when in the novel it was calligraphy and writing

by the time qingyu went to the village - they were already married and registered legally.
but if they follow the novel, qingyu helped her dodge a bullet

the original Infernal Affairs had 2 filmed and released endings. The HK canon one led to Infernal Affairs 2. The "bad guys are all caught"ending should be the CN release and any territories threatening action due to the "bag guy wins" canon ending

different starting premise though - novel was a transmigration plus reborn

to me it is the "when the phone rings" syndrome - sudden need to squeeze in elements from the novel at the last arc when the previous set ups were not done.
