Disappointed. Even JunHo can't make up for the sloppy writing.

I'm sad that I didn't really enjoy King The Land. I've waited for weeks for it to finish airing so I could binge watch it, but after the first 6 or so episodes I was actually forcing my self to carry on.

THE GOOD:
- There is no doubt that Junho and Yoona are very pleasing to the eye, and put together they make the perfect eye candy. They've got good chemistry, and since the Red Sleeve Ive been ready to shout at the top of my lungs that Junho is a very good actor, he doesn't disappoint here either. Yoona was decent too, I have no complaints about the acting.

- The show has very nice aesthetic, it obviously had a very big budget and so it was very well shot.

- There were definitely many funny moments, I'll give the writers that.

THE BAD:
- The OST wasn't bad per day, but to me something was missing. I've seen clips of the show on Instagram with different music which just worked so much better with the show.

- JunHo's voice. There were times, were I could tell Junho was unnecessarily making his voice deeper, and adder this baritone to it. And it hit me so hard I could not ignore it, it was too distracting.

THE UGLY:
- The writing for King The Land was sloppy, it was even embarrassingly over the top at times, to the point where it had me cringing internally.

Now don't come at me, I love RomComs. I don't expect RomComs to have great plot points, but things didn't work out here. I've seen shows like Business Proposal, Romance is a bonus Book, Weightlifting Fairy, and more do these same tropes but do them well. Here it felt the writers threw a dart on a board of tropes and just depended on Junho's good looks to pull things off.

It hurts me to say this, but this just isn't that great of a show.

HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO MOVE ON? Li Xun and Zhu Yun will forever hold my heart. <3

I am not the best at writing reviews, so I rarely write them. But I’m going to do my best to tell you that this is probably one of the best Dramas out there.

Summary: Li Xun and Zhu Yun meet at university. Li Xun is cold, and withdrawn to everyone but strangely not to Zhu Yun. Zhu Yun and Li Xun have a friendly rivalry, and with time it’s obvious that Zhu Yun affects Li Xun unlike anyone else. From there on work together, they make plans, and dream big dreams and even fall for each other in the process. But just when everything was going great tragedy strikes. Because dramas just like real life are tumultuous affairs.

What did I love most about this drama?
- The Chemistry between Chen Fei Yu and Zhang Jingyi. They lit up the screen any time they were together.
Both the leads have done a fantastic job, there was never a dull moment with them. Chen Fei yu blew me away with his acting, every small micro expression told a story. He’s an actor I’d like to watch more of. Zhang Jingyi was amazing in her own right, she was Zhu Yun, I could feel the earnestness of her character, again I’m definitely going to watch more of her work.

I saw a lot of comments that said the first 20 or so episodes were boring, if you’re looking for drama, action, massive plot changes it’s not in the first 20 episodes. The first 20 episodes are uplifting, they are funny, they are adorable, they are the meat of the storyline. If you skip the first 20 episodes you will miss out on everything. You won’t get to see Zhu Yun and Li Xun fall in love, grow up together, make a bond that is unbreakable. And if you miss out on the first twenty episode you won’t get to correctly experience the raw pain, the angst that would follow those episodes.

All in all, I can only say that you will regret missing out on L&P. So give it a watch because you will not regret it.
But I warn you this show, it’s not one that’s easy to move on from. The show, the soundtrack, the characters they’ll stay in your head rent free for many years to come!

My issue with the drama was that I could not at all, connect with the heroine. I don’t know if it was the way she was written or the way the character was acted out, but she felt very emotionless and stiff. Am I going to piss off anyone by saying I kind of hated the heroines acting?)
I did not understand the heroines motivations most of the times.

The plot tried to be central to the storyline but more often then not it was pushed to the side making this an unfortunately average watch. There are some series for which 16/32 episodes is just too much, and this was one of them. Things were too stretched out, and there was not a whole lot happening because it was just too long. 10 or 12 episodes would have been better for Run On.

An Underrated Rom-Com

I am sorry to say that I have frequently disregarded Romance in a bonus book. Despite it being on my watch list for nearly a year, I have often chosen not to start watching it because it doesn't appear particularly unique from the outside; it seems like an ordinary Rom-Com, infact I did not think it would even be enjoyable. As a result, I have consistently overlooked it.

I must admit that this drama follows the typical Rom-Com formula, incorporating the expected tropes seen in many other Rom-Coms. What sets this show apart is that it executes those tropes perfectly!

If you have an affinity for romance, this show is perfect for you. The cast is exceptional, and I can assure you that by the end of the series, you will develop an emotional connection with these characters. I know I did. It was almost bittersweet when the end came around.

Not bad, not great.

This drama was very similar to A Love so beautiful, a which is a drama I just watched recently so it felt a bit repetitive.
In all actuality the only difference between the two dramas was that here the FL was crushing on the ML’s best friend, and in A Love so beautiful the FL crushes on the ML.

There were very few differences between the two dramas, maybe you could say the FL here was a bit toned down compared to the one in ALSB but just barely. Otherwise both the dramas followed the same pattern, high school led to college which led to falling in love, then a try at long distance/too busy to meet which led to an unnecessary breakup and then a reunion at the end. I don’t know who copied who and I also just can’t be bothered to check the year each was released.

I did really like the ML here, he was cute. I also liked that the ML & FL developed a proper friendship that acted as a frame work for them liking each other. But I did find the FL frustrating, but that’s a problem I have with a lot of C-dramas, the FL are mostly childish, unpractical and weak sadly.

I also want to point out whoever did the FL’ makeup during the high school years, you seriously F-ed up. She constantly looks so pale, and the concealer on her eyes, gawd, so many creases! I don’t know if it was done to make her look younger, but with that awful, I assume wig, she always looks a step away from passing out.

SOMEONE GET CHENG XIAO INTO AN ACTING CLASS ASAP!!!

From the headline of my review you would think I hated this drama.
I didn’t.
Instead…I LOVED IT!

HAVE I PEAKED AT MY FIRST EVER C-DRAMA?
Falling into your Smile has been an experience, it was funny, engaging and it gave my heart the flutters - (Don’t worry I had a defibrillator on hand just in case.)

I loved everything about this drama, except the FL - not the character Tong Yao, but the actress Cheng Xiao, now I don’t know much about her, I don’t know if she’s a seasoned actress or not but I also don’t care because I’ve never seen someone so dead in the face. Chen Xiao couldn’t hold an expression if her life depended on it. Is she happy? Sad? Angry? Who knows? Kudos to the writers and the rest of the cast because they all literally carried Chen Xiao on their shoulders.

I’m not into esports, I’m not into any sports but there’s something about the brotherhood and the familiarity of a sporting team that this drama converted effortlessly. The game graphics, the commentators, the music, the ambience all added to this drama.

I can’t end a review before appreciating some man-candy. Xu Kai, as hot as he may be, actually seems to be good actor. I don’t think I would have liked this show as much as I did had he not been the ML.

I WANT MORE XIAO XHAN !!!

What’s with all these C-drama heroines all acting like kids?

I liked it and yet I didn’t like it.
I loved the ML, XIAO Zhan set my ovaries on fire and that’s no joke,
This is the first time I’ve seen him in a drama and he blew me away.

I’m very new to C-dramas but I’m having a lot of trouble with them, they start out so great but then they just seem to drag with unnecessary drama.

I’ve noticed a lot of the FL characters are the same or maybe I just keep on picking the wrong dramas, why are all the heroines dumb/artsy types/and so bloody whiny?
I’ve seen this FL in 2 dramas, this one and Go Go Squid(which I dropped because it was unbearable) she was the same in both. Didn’t show any acting chops honestly.
