I kept going and just started ep 30. The plot seemed better for a bit, but there has been some really stupid writing decisions the last few episodes that have soured my viewing experience. I'm considering skipping ahead rather than dropping it completely.
I'm 20 episodes in now, and I don't know if I will continue with this. The plot has been a little too obvious, and I find myself only caring about the FL, ML, ML's generals, and the Susha Emperor as characters. The rest are boring and one note. I was enjoying it a lot before this, so I'm going to try to keep going, but I've already started FFing thru scenes, which is not a good sign.
i personally didn’t like the first episode but i definitely encourage you to keep watching it’s so good!
I'm ten episodes in as of now, and I very much agree that editing is it's weakest point. I'm also not fully sold on the FL as a romantic partner. She fits the tough, soldier role well tho, so I'll keep going.
I put this on my watchlist knowing it wasn't a great drama, and at least I was entertained for a while. But now I am struggling to get through this. I agree with others it should have been much shorter. These supposed adults, with adult jobs, being so childish about relationships is near intolerable.
I was already interested in this because I like Liu Xueyi's acting, but that trailer was so good! Never mind his character, I want to know all about these women! This might be my most anticipated drama! Hopefully it will drop soon.
what a shitty ending... they married all that time and never consummate their marriage and they couldn't throw…
I think you missed a scene. They cut away, yes, but they very much implied they consummated mid series. This wasn't a big, bold romance some people were looking for tho, so I can understand it not being everyone's cup of tea.
As far as kids go, neither of them, and especially Ye Li, are in a place where having them is a smart idea. She's still recovering from her trauma, and so is he, frankly.
there are ppl who actually rooting for mjl?edit.i meant yl x mjl end game
They're distracted by the pretty face. I've seen many people praising his chemistry with Bai Lu and wanting them paired. I don't think they're watching the drama for the plot, tbh.
Depending how the last 10 episodes play out, this drama could wind up in my top 5. I love it so much! The upcoming arc will be the deciding factor, because they need to handle it with care. The curse of cdrama endings is very real! There's been maybe 1 or 2 I've watched from the last few years where the end wasn't a let down in some way. I'm spoiled from the teasers and online discussion, so fingers crossed its as good as it sounds.
I may get hate for this comment, but here it is. It's worth the hype! I think this is the best Bai Lu drama in…
To each their own, right? I think Bai Lu's lovely, so I've got no problem with her personally. Just sometimes her acting isn't to my taste. It's nice that there's so many choices in dramaland!
Just genuinely curious, not trying to cause any drama... Is the rating influenced by Bai Lu's presence, or is…
I may get hate for this comment, but here it is.
It's worth the hype!
I think this is the best Bai Lu drama in a very long time. And I say that as not a huge fan of her acting. I've watched a lot of her work. She can come across as very disengaged from the story she's trying to tell. While she's good to great at expressing high level emotions, I've felt she lacks something in the quiet moments. And her expressions can be flat and wooden. I've given her dramas a chance partly because she's done stories I wanted to see, not just because she's in them.
I say all that because she's knocking it out of the park for this one! The director needs to work with her for the foreseeable future, because she has worked beautifully with Bai Lu! The whole cast really! I'll keep my praise of Cheng Lei to a minimum, since he's a fave and I could get carried away, but he's so good! Side characters don't feel like filler. The Dowager Consort is a stand-out! The refreshing way the villains all have agency and aren't flat or one-note villains. You may hate them and want them gone, but you can understand their POVs. The pacing is so nice! So many dramas are all over the place, or edited terribly. Not this one! I had only one moment I've seen so far that was clearly meant to be seen at an earlier point, but it wasn't out of place where it was, just costuming making it noticeable.
Are there issues? Yeah. The acrylic nails on some of the actresses is very noticeable. But if I'm going to ignore physics to enjoy the impossible martial arts displays, I'll ignore the modern nails too.
Is the rating influenced Bai Lu's presence? Yes, it probably is. But I think it's worthy of it's score. Take it from someone who tried to like Till the End of the Moon and just couldn't do it, and who dropped Unveil: Jadewind 10 minutes in.
I haven't started watching yet. How does it compare to the leads more recent dramas? I loved How Dare You, but didn't even finish the first ep of Unveil: Jadewind before I gave up on it.
it's really good until episode 28! especially the war scene.. i love itafter that I use many skips
I thought I was the only one! I feel like if the drama ended at ep 28 it would have been great! Everything after was a struggle. I stopped watching half way thru ep 29 because it was such a let down from the previous episodes. I picked it back up a month later and watched so much of it at 2x speed just to finish it.
