Went into it expecting something different, but it had its moments

I think, overall, my main issue with this show was that what I thought it was going to be, based off the insanely cool edits on my fyp. This was not what it actually ended up being. Was it a bad show? No. Was is meaningful? Yes. Could it have been better? Absolutely, because it wasn't want I was expecting out of the show.

As a social criticism drama - this hits the mark with a full ten stars. However, everything else was a mess.

The premise is absolutely the best part and is part of the reason why I was so interested in this show. I am a twin myself, so I am always excited to see them be the main characters. However, this show did not deliver on that front. White goes undercover to find out who hurt his brother - yet he quickly stops doing that. He barely investigated Blacks gang, he was way too trusting and even when they told him how Black usually acts he didn't try to change his behavior to fit in better. Actually, it seems as if he actually has no interest in his brother at all - which is a real shame bc his brother immediately came to him when he felt him getting hurt but he never did that for Black. It was always Black who found White first.

Including White, most characters acted very juvenile in their action. You are committing pretty harsh crimes yet they don't take the necessary precautions. They should be wearing gloves considering they could easily be found through their DNA for how severe their crimes are. The only exceptions of those who always seem to think things through or actually have the skills to get through severe rough patches are Gumpa and Black. Gumpa makes the plans and they are well thought out plus he has many skills he teaches to the others and form what I understand Blacks plans always worked out and he manages to get himself out of situations the others can't.

However, the most disappointing thing I've seen in this is the lack of showtime between Black and White - the whole premise starts with them but they have no scenes together and when Black is awake we never know what he's doing. He's the one with enemies yet we never know what he is doing. I believe the most interesting character is Black which is why its a real shame we never got to understand or see him in action better. The most disappointing thing about Blacks character is his extreme change form those growing up a privledged life and turning into the absolute opposite. i mean, there has to be a reason why he is willing to live like he grew up a gutter rat and is apparently mean to everyone around him. They should have gone into his character more. He was ironically the character I liked the most and I liked Euch as well bc of how she was necessary to the plot in basically playing devils advocate for the law to show both sides.

Besides the incomprehensible behavior of nearly al the characters - there were so many plot holes that could have been solved if they cut down on unnecessary side interests. Show more of the villain's motives so it feels like a well-rounded story and stop jumping from one activity to another without a leading line to show how we got there like the ROL suddenly gaining traction when there should have been more focused on it since it was important in the conclusion.

I loved Teh and the cinematography was perfect

I related to Teh very much which is why I liked his character. However, after seeing a small spoiler for the sequel I will most likely not be watching it because I don't want the image of him that I relate to so much to be tarnished in my mind.

I felt Teh was relatable to me bc it seemed as if he didn't have a strong support system after Oh and him stopped being friends - if you think about it, how many friends did he have that he could talk to about really personal stuff? He didn't - although Tarn and him hung out they didn't really talk bc they were both busy studying in their own lives. This is why I understood his jealousy toward Oh and anytime he paid attention to others. This is also why I predicted that his jealousy and feelings could get mixed together bc he might not be able to distinguish between love and friendship and would therefore have the possibility of falling in love with someone else in the future and after reading the synopsis of the sequel I was right - however, forming feelings for someone unexpectedly bc you have a better handle of emotions is differently than cheating which is why I am hesitate to watch the sequel.

Had Great Thriller Plot Potential but the Romance Ruined it

Where to start with this drama? Plot wise this drama could have been one of the best thrillers but it failed due to....several reasons.

Honestly confused on what genre this was supposed to be. It played out like someone created a bad romance and decided to add a thriller aspect to it but it was too complicated of a plot to be kept as a background plot to a romance.

Pros - acting of all the characters besides the FL and ML was phenomenal. Child actors were the stars of this drama. D.O and Park Bo Gum is reason enough for a lot of people to watch this. I heard the Thai version of this drama had less romance so normally I would have gone for that version instead but these actors stopped me ( also, I found out after I nearly finished this drama). I will probably see if that version is better when I can wipe this one from my memory.

The plot - Had an interesting plot that could have been one of the best psychological thrillers if it focused more on why they did it, their lives and their relationships with each other rather than the romance. Very unique.

Cons -

The romance - There I said it - the romance sucked. The FL was one of the worst characters I have ever seen as a lead. The ML wasn't anything special either, but compared to the FL he looked leagues better. First of all, how are we supposed to get behind not only a romance where one of them is an actual stalker ( and not to mention a detective which means she knows everything she was doing was absolutely WRONG) but how are we also supposed to like her as a person, let alone as a romantic partner towards the one she was stalking? And before anyone says something like "well she wanted to know what he knows because of her father" bullshit, I would just like to say that she was a detective who could legally investigate and literally should have approached him and not repeatedly break into his house and follow him around. That literally accomplished nothing. I don't know what's with South Korea and having at least 1 detective being an absolute asshole (usually a male MC) that breaks laws/protocol and is never punished for it, but kudos to having that law breaking detective be a women this time I guess. Plus, the stalking - this must not be scene as a horrible crime in SK because I've scene no less than 3 women in dramas pull these stunts and end up with the guy and apparently no one sees it as a huge breach of privacy? Sorry, I just can't get over that.

The FL - She had no redeemable qualities. Besides stalking, she was a hypocrite and was a badly written 'strong fl' that was actually a damsel in distress. Brags about knowing police academy fighting abilities, yet gets the crap beat out of her after the first episode nearly every other episode and she never even gets a hit in. Tells ML he shouldn't be alone because its dangerous, then proceeds to do everything alone, never calls back-up and talks to people she knows are literal serial killers by herself because why? So she can get almost killed every episode that's why. Does not have one braincell. Please take out the genius detective part in the drama summary because she is dumb as hell.

The ML - He was an ass to genuinely nice people, and liked the one he should have been an ass too. He was bland. Could have been redeemable after he found out about Min - his brother - and was officially reunited because he did get depressed form knowing his brother blamed him, but he wasn't because the PLOT DID NOT FOCUS ON THE RIGHT THINGS! Also, not a genius because he missed a lot of these in front of him for no reason. Hated him for saying he wanted to find his brother like his life depended on him yet didn't do anything to suggest that he actually wanted too. It took murder to get him to finally start looking. If he actually cared he would have searched for him himself rather than depend on his guardian even after he became an adult that could get access to the case materials. He also made his name famous to the point where he would be easily findable, yet, he was never in Korea so how was his brother supposed to approach him even if he became free? For this reason I thought he was poorly written.

The plot - The plot should have focused on why they turned out the way they did (the serial killers) and it should have focused on their relationships with each other. ML found out about his brother too late and barely had any substantial conversations with him, like what it was like for him growing up etc. Tell me why he had more scenes with a girl he only officially met not too long ago than his brother who he supposedly wanted to find for 20 years?

The ending - I never understood why people were complaining that the serial killers got away and "what about justice?". What about it? I understand SK tends to have all their dramas advocate for justice so viewers don't get the wrong idea, but people need to realize that this actually happens. Serial killers are not caught, people help etc, and you can condemn actions but still like the story/character even if realistically you wouldn't. I like American shows for this reason. People don't watch thrillers/crime like Hannibal and go "this drama can only end if he's caught!!" No, viewers are okay with him always being free because its FICTIONAL which why them being free in the end was fine for me. Plus, I did pity them for having childhoods that would contribute to them turning out like that.
However, what I didn't like in the ending was Min. I'm a bit confused on how he is going to be living, and considering no one knew he was a killer (besides the MCs and there's no proof anyways) why did he have to go into hiding? Wasn't it enough for Lee Joon to start over? Why did ML go back to the FL when his brothers situation is unclear? Especially with her wanting Min to pay for his crime, realistically, their relationship wouldn't work bc ML wants to protect his brother while she didn't. That's a pretty significant difference of opinion.

I truly believe this drama could have been an amazing drama if the romance was taken out and it focused the the psychological aspects of the secondary characters and their relationships with each other than the romance and the side killer plots that took up half the drama.

Genre Breaking but that's It

I liked that this was both a thriller and a romance. But it could have been more fleshed out. Romance should have been towards the latter half and more thriller in the beginning. MC trusted the second MC too quickly for my liking without looking into him more after all that had happened to him. While everyone else complains that there's not enough romance scenes, I don't think you should be watching dramas like this if all you're looking for is smut anyways.

Should have cut out the scenes with the second younger ship./couple. When putting thriller and romance together it should only focus on the main couple and the plot. Once side character relationships are introduced it usually doesn't work out because the plot or main romance suffers from being rushed just so they can add in side romance. Thai dramas rarely have more than 12 episodes, we have limited time to establish a plot and make a believable romance.

Jane did absolutely carry this drama. Her acting was great, went through so much just to end up like that. Had no one to turn to because the people she should have trusted the most were the ones that were against her. I wish she had trusted Tan and Bun to help her but I understand her decision to leave them out considering.

Also, random remark: Inspector M needed to keep his hair down for the whole drama bc he looked so good like that especially with casual clothes.

Extremely interesting premise but did not enjoy the comedy aspect

I loved the plot - the idea that a drama might be exploring nature verse nurture when its comes to serial killers. I thought it would be about whether the MC had the potential to be a killer if you took away his nurture (memory of how he was raised) and he was just left with nature ( his inherent qualities). However, this series left me dumbstruck bc that was not what it was about. The comedy aspect when the MC is attempting to harm anyone just did not sit right with this thriller enthusiast. Something about making the antagonist and his murders serious and gruesome and then having an MC whose entire personality be revolved around comedic aspects related to murdering/harming people just did not work for me. I thought the comedy genre tag was not going to be this strong. I think this drama is better suited for people whose primary dramas they watch aren't thrillers. If your like me and love thrillers this might not be what you want.

A couple episode were great , others I questioned the intent

If I were to recommend this drama to someone, I would only recommend they watch certain episodes similar to how black mirror operates - some are good and some of bad and do not need to be watched as this is in episodic format. The first episode is great - crime is committed and its realistic in both the crime and the punishment. 2nd one was similar to the first but the punishment was phycological instead. These episodes were relatively straight forward as Nanno didn't push anyone to do a crime. In many of the episodes Nanno seems to be pushing people to be bad people. I feel like this is fine as it represents temptation and its up to the person to realize they can't control everything in their life. However, sometimes the concepts were just too out there that they no longer became relatable. Additionally, there was an episode where Nanno helps a troubled boy meet his father - I would have liked to see more of this episode where they seem like a bad person but in actuality is just a teen with troubles. All in all, I would only recommend the episodes where a lesson is actually taught and not the ones where it felt chaotic. For instance, the beauty episode one could have been a good look into how society views women based on their looks but they blew the whole thing out of proportion by not letting it be relatable - which it should have been.

Also, I felt like a lot of the worst episodes involved women especially revolving around jealousy. For instance, tell me why in the last episode the guy that appears to be cheating ( or just the girl likes him and they weren't actually dating ) is not punished by the group of girls and guys but Nanno is? I just felt like there wasn't any lessons to some of the episodes. I am a fan of Satoshi Kon's work and I feel like it would have worked better if they were better able to emulate his work routed in surrealism but where as his shows what certain emotions/events can do to a person (like paranoia agent and fear and perfect blue and how someone views themselves after sa) this was hit or miss.
