Please please please can someone spoil me? I keep seeing conflicting posts about the ending, and need to know if I’m going to have a headache from crying by the end😭.

Of course! There’s often a great discrepancy between the way western cultures and asian cultures see a distinction between familial vs. friend relations that I think often leads to bashing by those ignorant of the differing customs. For example, it’s so customary to automatically refer to someone advanced in age in Korea and China as grandma and grandpa. Many viewerss don’t realize that is just the natural respectful way.

They aren’t related, but the FL’s mother “took in” the ML’s mom for a while when she was young, treating her as her qin mei (亲妹) and they became family by the notion of friends close enough to be family.

I agree. I mean the rapport that they have established is so frickin’ solid. It feels like there’s something lacking in the show without the romance. Though I have been thoroughly enjoying, it now feels like the romance should be the natural progression of events, especially b/c Qi Jiu/Wenxian has kind of been pining for her since he was a kid🫣. At this point, if the writers keep avoiding it, it kinda feels like they are detracting from what could be a beautiful story.

Lol - I, too, keep thinking about his other characters when watching him in this show, most especially Park’s Marriage Contract. A lot of the scenes with him and Aera & him and Seong Mi are reminiscent of the romance he had in that show with the maid that time traveled.
