@Sara Rafiey, what you mentioned is true if this were to have happened in Europe or North America, both of which have different sets of values and norms from those practiced in East Asia and Southeast Asia. This PRC medical drama will have many, if not most, viewers from East Asia and the Chinese diasporas nodding their heads.

As viewers of the drama, we recognize that, in hindsight, Lu Da Dong deserved priority in receiving the donor's organ. In real life, however, corruption within organizations often undermines Western ethics of justice and righteousness.
Surgeon Lin Yi seeks permission to work outside to earn more money for his nephew's treatment, which is realistic in a capitalistic society that the PRC has become. But the previous case of the doctors giving in to the hysterical woman with twins to try saving one of her fetuses and supposedly helping her to seek financial assistance from other organizations clashes with the fantasy that every patient's demand will be fulfilled regardless of the patient's ability to pay for the services. I'd like to know which countries offer this luxury so we can immigrate there. If the fantasy is to be sustained in the screenplay, then even every medical procedure to save Lin Yi's nephew won't incur any medical expense for him to worry about.
Ep 5-6 are disturbing for Chinese diasporas and those who grew up with traditional Chinese values, which were politically eradicated during the Cultural Revolution, but, considering its setting, they uphold the ideals of the CCP.
there have always been many gay dramas from Japan, I believe they have the highest even amongst all, they produce…
@BTSZNNOGDAISHUNJSHRizz Really? Please recommend Japanese drama series that lean more towards gay than BL. One of the streaming platforms from East Asia labeled this as both 'gay' and 'BL', not exclusively 'gay'. For those who have read the original novel, is it gay or BL?
Does anyone know if there is a function on this platform to block posts or comments with profanity from appearing when a registered user views the comment section?
Nowadays Chines BLs are better than Thai BLs in many aspect.
While I prefer only Chinese, Taiwanese, and Korean series because they are more relatable to me, judging from availability on paid platforms, Thai specialty series are very successful, employing the right tropes for their audiences.
It’s Sichuan accent Mandarin. I saw that the female lead mentioned it in her farewell post about the drama on…
It's not Cantonese, but some form of Mandarin blend. @Xm1012 thanks for the post. I have a hard time understanding it, too! Also, one of the mother character is so greedy of money, and that person is in the period just right when the Cultural Revolution was ending. She should have been sent for re-education, if the scriptwriter would have wished for more historical accuracy.
Could anyone figure out how Tunnel Cleaner Guo's deaf and mute wife found out about the hostel where her husband lives? After episode 18, I am enthused with the Zhuang Zhuang character. I hope East Asian people see this and follow her straightforward communication style, which is enjoyed primarily in the West.
I think they probably used a Hong Kong company to distribute the show to avoid censorship restrictions so thats…
Also saw inadvertently that Love:X the dating reality show has Chinese producers although it is made with Thai actors and actresses and marketed as a Thai content. (I usually don't watch Thai content for personal aesthetics).
Thank you for the info. So, is it true that if a production is distributed in Hong Kong, even perhaps Macau, then…
Great to hear. That means we will hopefully get more CN BL genre content so East Asia will not be cluttered with Thai BL productions. Also more Cantonese dubbed content will make it accessible to overseas Chinese consumers. :)
