When I first watched it's clips in 2024, I didn’t like it at all, but after watching ZYR in 2 dramas : generation to generation and ashes to crown , I decided to watch this drama as I really liked him in the 2 dramas , and now I feel this drama isn’t too bad !! In fact I like it now !! Maybe my taste changed !

Overall I liked the drama , for a one time watch it was good , about the ending I personally didn't dislike it , however it defeated the meaning of it's title " Royal Betrothal ". Wedding ceremony didn't happen , Where's the Betrothal?
They should have just named it The Emperor and the Scholar , I think previously it was named so

Yes , I loved it too ! It should have an average rating Between 8 and 8.5 at least , 7.8 is less imo. These Fandom wars really !!!! They don't understand that by lowering the rating bcoz of some billing reasons they are ending in mutual destruction. It’s stupidity!!

I loved both the leads , villains , supporting casts , set , all the music/songs and color palette 🔥🔥

I was really excited to watch it but AI doesn’t look good.

I have not much problem with AI but what made me watch Chinese dramas are their arts , the beautiful CGI , if they can't provide that , they will keep loosing their audiences , also AI is ok for short budget less known and less popular dramas , not for dramas like The Doll , which is one of the highly anticipated drama

I personally wasn't too disappointed with the ending (bcoz I didn't read the novel so I wasn't eager to watch the predestined ending)(but it's different for novel readers, they were expecting wedding and togetherness, though they were together at the end [at least none died] but no wedding)
but it definitely didn't justify it's name 'Royal Betrothal ' as no betrothal happened.
